How did average Americans react to Family Guy mocking Down Syndrom and Palin

The folks' reaction to the Palin/Family Guy dust-up From the OReilly Factor" The animated program "Family Guy" mocked Sarah Palin by using a character with Down Syndrome. The Factor asked pollster Frank Luntz to wire up a group of voters and show them the episode in question. "The reaction we got was shocking," Luntz said. "Democrats have a reputation for being more 'compassionate,' but they didn't find that offensive and the Republicans did. Where's the compassion? The demonization of Sarah Palin has worked."

TN gets mention in NY Times article about health care vote......

TN is mentioned in this article from the New York Times. It sounds like Tanner has declared his intention to stay with his no vote. Good for him! We must let Gordon know our feelings on this issue. Any health care reform that they vote for must include Stupak like "air tight" language. The Senate version, as Rep. Stupak says,  is unacceptable. He  may not be running for reelection but his legacy is at stake. Does he want to be welcomed back to TN with this as his  final vote. NO and let's remind him  of that. He is  still representing us.  I pray his noncommittal answer is not a code  for what can you do for me, Speaker Pelosi........

Wary Centrists Posing Challenge in Health Care Vote
New York Times
Analysts like Mr. Wasserman say Ms. Pelosi’s best chances for no-to-yes conversions rest with Democrats who are retiring, because they do not have to worry about their political fortunes. So far, there are only three: Representative John Tanner and Representative Bart Gordon, both of Tennessee, and Representative Brian Baird of Washington. Mr. Tanner has told colleagues he has no intention of switching his vote, said one Democratic lawmaker who has spoken with him. And in interviews on Friday, Mr. Gordon and Mr. Baird sounded decidedly noncommittal. Mr. Gordon said his constituents were “starting to get a little bit tired” of hearing about health care. He said he wanted to see “at least a partially bipartisan bill” — something that now seems impossible in the House, given that the lone Republican who voted in favor last time, Representative Anh Cao of Louisiana, has publicly changed his mind. Knoxville Rally against Planned Parenthood relocation

 Updates from: http://noknoxvilleabortion.org/home

Rally for Life a Success

This past Saturday, February 20th, more than one hundred people of all ages, races and religious affiliations came together to declare Knoxville as a City of Life, saying "YES" to Life and "NO" to Planned Parenthood.  The crowd gathered to hear speakers and offered prayer, all while enjoying one of the most beautiful days since last fall.

Bishop Richard Stika, of the Catholic Diocese of Knoxville, recently asked State Representative Joe Armstrong to support pro-lifer's efforts to stop Planned Parenthood's relocation to an East Knoxville medical facility.

Update on the condom distribution from Vancouver. Emergency shipments of extra condoms being shipped in

Parenting Freedom draws comparisons between the Olympic village and... Sodom and Gomorrah. From an MSNBC report: Cold days, warm nights, Village secrets
Inevitably, some athletes get beyond flirting. That's why the Vancouver organizers have laid in a stock of 100k condoms, which works out to 14 for each of the 7,000 athletes, coaches, trainers and officials housed in the Games' two villages.
Pro-Life With Christ tells the conversion story of former Olympic speed skater Kirstin Holum, now known as Sister Catherine Mary. She met a pro life group walking across American and credits them with her  experience. Instead of participating in the Olympics in Vancouver, she is in a convent where there is no TV.

Their bodies...their right..... their choice!!!! Right?????

An interesting bill is  working  its way through the TN legislature  entitled The Freedom from Coercion Act. Basically this bill would require the posting  in abortion facilities signage advising women/girls that they cannot be coerced into an abortion and that they have the force of law to protect them. There  is support/help  available . It also provides  the threat of penalties to providers who fail to post or participate in such coercion.

Is this needed?  Will it help? Yes.

Almost everyone knows of someone who was unduly pressured by some significant other be it a parent, boyfriend and even husband to abort or else. Sometimes it is physical violence or loss of support or residence. Would it help to know that the law is on your side and there is help available? Absolutely! Is the abortion industry a silent accomplice. I can tell you yes. Sometimes  they are not so silent.  They are trained like telemarketers. Ask Carol Everett or Abby Johnson! They will tell you that they are trained to find your worst fear and emphasize it.  Abortion is  an industry and darn profitable one.

Now I am finding it interesting that some supporters of the abortion industry are worried about this bill interfering with  the parent/child relationship, but vigorously support judicial bypass when minors want to get an abortion without their parents knowledge/consent.

Will watch this one!

Blackburn picked to represent Republicans at Summit Thursday

TN Marsha Blackburn, pro life advocate, has been selected to go to President Obama's health care summit on Thursday per Politico article.   We know she will remind him that ABORTION IS NOT HEALTH CARE!

The Endangered Species Project

Excellent work by GA Right to Life in highlighting this important issue. It is not a coincidence that PP plants their abortion facilities in minority neighborhoods. Ryan Bomberger is featured in the ABC film, an African American man who heads this project. I heard him online tell his story of being the product of forcible rape. I love it when you look at a human face and then dare them to say, you should be dead because of the crime of your biological father. As Catherine Davis says, my people are dying......

ABC News brought more attention to this here.

Undercover Tape at WI Planned Parenthood Shows 10th Case of Child Sex Abuse Coverup

This is the second one from my home state. Notice they are very interested in who will pay for the abortion and when she says the boyfriend will pay they are very willing to cover for him. She even insulates that he would be very angry with me if I don't get this taken care of.  And our President wants to give 11 billion dollars to Community Health Centers like Planned Parenthood!

MILWAUKEE, February 23--New undercover footage shows staff at a Milwaukee, WI Planned Parenthood abortion clinic counseling a purportedly 14-year-old statutory rape victim not to tell anyone about her 31-year-old boyfriend and coaching her how to obtain an abortion without her parents' consent. The new video, seventh in a series from Live Action documenting similar behavior in 5 other states, comes amid recent controversy about Planned Parenthood's compliance with state laws regarding minors and abortion.

In the video, after hearing the girl is 14 and her boyfriend is "much older," the counselor says whether or not the situation will be reported by clinic workers "depends on the person you're disclosing that information to." When the girl says that her boyfriend is 31, the counselor tells her, "You don't have to say anything" about the statutory rape and instructs her, "Just give them the information that's needed." The counselor also confirms that the 31-year-old "boyfriend" will be paying for the abortion.

Kevin Pearce learns patience from Down Syndrome brother

Tom Brokow interviews the family of Kevin Pearce who many thought would win a gold in the snowboarding competition. He suffered a critical injury in practice months before the Games started. A good interview but what I caught was the highlighting of his Down Syndrome older brother David who his mother said that the "great gift of David in our life prepared me for this experience." How wonderful for a special needs child to be highlighted in this way especially when prenatal testing specifically for Down's Syndrom ends with a 95% abortion rate. Watch this heartwarming 5 minute video here. You will be glad you did.

Would you tweet about your abortion???

I must admit that I cannot fall in love with Twitter. I think we will all forget how to spell.  Also, it is strange that people feel the need to tell every thought on their mind at all moments of the day and night.  Usually  they are not all that interesting. I also heard there is a website called pleaserobme.com that broadcasts it out to the world when you tweet that you are away from home.  Some use it as a  tool to shock or as a subtle cry for help. Such is Angie,  who is in the process of tweeting  about her chemical abortion that is in process. Her tweets are full of TMI and vulgarity.  There is a certain magical power in  thinking that people you don't know and will never meet are following your sad life. It also says something about us as we follow this sick story. Like a car wreck....you can't turn away. Most will think she is such a mixed up person what kind of a mother would she make. Well she is a mother who made a choice and now this baby does not have a chance. I see this as a subtle cry for attention and help.
Another thought is these girls constantly talk about how badly they are treated by their BF's aka  boyfriends, yet they never consider not sleeping with them.  How sad

Update on resolution to honor ACLU chief Weinberg....it is on the table

Nashville Scenes, Jeff Woods, published this update last night.... "In the House, Republicans already have bumped the resolution from the consent calendar, where such measures are usually adopted unanimously. It's on tonight's House agenda for a separate up-or-down vote. Fireworks are likely." "Update: The House postponed voting on the resolution at the request of the sponsor, Rep. Brenda Gilmore, D-Nashville. There was no debate."
Commenter on the original post points out that when it was on the Senate side, Senator Beavers bumped it from the consent calendar to the regular calendar one time and when it came up again, she tried once more to bump it and was told to vote no or pass but you can't vote no on the consent calendar, you can only pass. Remember four passed, Beavers, Black, Tracy and Southerland.

We may see this come up again but as Humphrey on the Hill points out in his article , some Dems outside of the urban areas might feel uncomfortable defending their support.

TN Senate Idol Show: Hedy Weinberg More Popular Than Michael Jackson!

Interesting write up on the State senate voting to honor Hedy Weinberg, ACLU Director.....it is being considered today on the House floor.....what I think it interesting is the way Senator Haynes had to change it to get votes and the way this vote may be used against candidates running for office...

TNSenate Idol Show: Hedy Weinberg More Popular Than Michael Jackson!
A resolution honoring Hedy Weinberg for serving 25 years as executive director of the American Civil Liberties Union in Tennessee has passed the state Senate after revisions intended to reduce controversy.
But the revised resolution, approved 26-0 in the Senate with four Republican senators abstaining and three members absent, has nonetheless drawn criticism. It is scheduled for a House floor vote Monday evening.
Sen. Joe Haynes, D-Nashville, sponsored the resolution with nine co-sponsors, all Democrats. He withdrew the original version (SJR708) after a Republican objected to it being included on a list of non-controversial items slated for passage with unanimous approval and replaced it with a second, revised version (SJR782).
"That's the only way I could get it passed," Haynes said of the watered-down version in an interview. "I think everybody over there (on the Republican side) was concerned about kickback from some of their people."
The revisions included deletion of references to the ACLU having "gay and straight" members - retained is a reference to having supporters who are "Democrats,
Republicans and Libertarians and religious and non-religious" - and a declaration of the ACLU's readiness to defend "the outcasts of society."
Also stripped from the original version was a paragraph hailing Weinberg's "brilliant direction" of the ACLU in opposing racial profiling and legislation to mandate that driver's license exam be conducted in English only while supporting efforts "to get Tennessee schools to end censorship of gay educational sites."
Traditionally, almost any congratulatory resolution has been approved automatically as a courtesy to the sponsoring legislator. A change in that attitude was reflected earlier with the Senate's rejection of a House-passed resolution honoring the late entertainer Michael Jackson.
(The historic roll call vote on the Michael Jackson resolution -- seven yes, seven no and everyone else dodging the issue as best they could -- is HERE.)
"Welcome to the Republican (controlled) General Assembly. That's the difference, in my opinion," said Haynes.
On the Senate floor, the revised resolution was approved without debate but apparently with considerable consternation on how to vote. Senate Speaker Ron Ramsey held the voting machine open for several moments, during which some members shifted their votes.
When the final vote was taken, there were zero no votes. The four abstaining, and thus declining to take a position, were Republican Sens. Mae Beavers of Mount Juliet, Diane Black of Gallatin, Jim Tracy of Shelbyville and Steve Southerland of Morristown. Black and Tracy are among six candidates seeking the GOP nomination for the 6th District Congressional seat.
Ramsey, who is running for the Republican gubernatorial nomination, voted for the resolution along with Senate Republican Leader Mark Norris of Collierville.
When the resolution came to the House, Rep. Glen Casada of College Grove, who is House Republican Caucus chairman, "bumped" it from the list of measures slated for unanimous approval and thus set up the Monday House floor vote.
Meanwhile, Senate approval of the resolution had attracted critical commentary. The blog "Pro-Life In Tennessee," for example, focused on Weinberg's support for a lawsuit that led to a Tennessee Supreme Court ruling widely criticized by anti-abortion activists.
Andy Sere, spokesman for the National Republican Congressional Committee, meanwhile, used the situation to attack Democratic Sen. Roy Herron of Dresden, who is running for the 8th District Congressional nomination and who voted yes on honoring the ACLU leader.
"Weinberg and her organization support removing God from the public square; banning the death penalty; restricting the 2nd Amendment right of Tennesseans to keep and bear arms; and allowing abortion-on-demand & gay marriage," said Sere in an emailed news release to reporters. "But Roy Herron voted to 'honor and commend' that agenda."

Haynes said he sponsored the resolution as a simple matter of taking note of an fellow Nashvillian's involvement in the public arena; not as a political statement. Typically, such resolutions with their flowery language are designed to be framed and hung in a place where family and friends can admire.

"I haven't always agreed with Hedy... like when she was for the Ku Klux Klan marching (at an event in Pulaski years ago)," Haynes said when asked why he pushed a resolution praising Weinberg. "But I respect her. But she believes in the Constitution and the Bill of Rights and has worked hard for 25 years for those principles."

Planned Parenthood Open House....bring the kids!

Planned Parenthood is trying hard to change their image from angry feminists to family friendly image. As this post shows their open house invites children and has face painting for them and of course they want teenagers there and giving away  movie passes and other prizes. This reminds me of PP getting young parents holding babies to come to the legislature when important votes come up. They wear badges that say Parents by Choice! One young woman came and was nursing a baby.  I find that amazing! It is like saying it's all about my wishes.....I wanted you so you are in my arms......wrong timing and you are out of here. I love this choice stuff.
I will never forget the woman who said to me that she chose abortion and it made her a better mother. I really wanted to ask her to which child but I bit my tongue because I thought that response would be mean.

Interesting catch from Big Blue Wave blogspot of Canada

That Planned Parenthood of Western New York plans an open house.
She writes:
And they want you to bring the kids!
Yes, little tikes, come and see where your preborn brothers and sisters spent their last moments on earth.

What a heartwarming reception!

The abortion clinics are always trying to eliminate the stigma of abortion by attempting to smother them with syrupy feel good family values.

It doesn't work. Everyone knows you kill prenatal human beings, Planned Parenthood.

AP IMPACT: Testing curbs some genetic diseases

This article should be read carefully. This is the very reason why I will not donate to March of Dimes.....yes, everyone wants to have healthy children and testing prior to conception if you have reason to feel you are passing on a terrible disease ,BUT what is happening with an almost  casual atmosphere is abortion when prenatal testing indicates a deformity. How many false positives are there? Are parents being frightened and given exaggerated claims of life for these children that encourages them to choose adoption. I can tell you the answer is yes. I have had many parents recount such tactics to me.

And as Lerner points out does this devalue those born persons who are struggling with this disease. How big a step is it to "screen out " for gender and other preferences.

Eliminating disease is a noble goal but also "should give us pause," Lerner, the Columbia historian, wrote recently in the New England Journal of Medicine."If a society is so willing to screen aggressively to find these genes and then to potentially to have to abort the fetuses, what does that say about the value of the lives of those people living with the diseases?" he asked.

Diseases like familial dysautonomia and Tay-Sachs, which kill before school age, are easier cases. If one of those vanishes, "thank God," said Rabbi Ekstein of the Jewish testing group. "It gives me a very good feeling that we are a part of such life-saving efforts."

Vanishes how by killing them prior to birth???

AP IMPACT: Testing curbs some genetic diseases

By MARILYNN MARCHIONE
AP Medical Writer

Some of mankind's most devastating inherited diseases appear to be declining, and a few have nearly disappeared, because more people are using genetic testing to decide whether to have children.
Births of babies with cystic fibrosis, Tay-Sachs and other less familiar disorders seem to have dropped since testing came into wider use, The Associated Press found from interviews with numerous geneticists and other experts and a review of the limited research available.
Many of these diseases are little known and few statistics are kept. But their effects — ranging from blood disorders to muscle decline — can be disabling and often fatal during childhood.
Now, more women are being tested as part of routine prenatal care, and many end pregnancies when diseases are found. One study in California found that prenatal screening reduced by half the number of babies born with the severest form of cystic fibrosis because many parents chose abortion.

I saw this on Jill Stanek's website. How true. It says it all, doesn't it. I would say he nailed it. Ashes are a sign of repentance as we are all sinners. But we are not to be proud of our sins!  What if we gave up abortion for Lent. How many lives saved! 40 x 4000=160000!

Woman who threatened protester cancels abortion

What is surprising to me is the write up by  the newspaper which is very favorable.

By: Mark Stodghill, Duluth News Tribune

Mechelle Hall dabbed tears from her eyes Tuesday as she pleaded guilty to second-degree assault for brandishing a knife and threatening a woman who urged her not to get an abortion.

Yet, she revealed later, she never got it.

Hall, 26, of Superior, admitted her crime in a St. Louis County courtroom under questioning by county prosecutor Nathaniel Stumme. Public defender Laura Zimm told Judge David Johnson that, under terms of a plea agreement, Hall would receive probation and wouldn’t have to serve any jail time. It was a routine, perfunctory court hearing.

The surprise came when Hall was reached by phone at her Superior home Tuesday evening. She said she never had the planned abortion. Hall said she decided to keep the baby after being confronted by anti-abortion protesters Leah Winandy and her mother, Sarah, on Nov. 24. She said she was stressed out and they made her realize that she didn’t want to end the life she was carrying inside her.

Hall was asked if there was anything she’d like to say to the Winandys.

Thank you for being there,” she said. “If they weren’t there, I probably would have gone through with it and regretted it for the rest of my life. It probably would have gone the other way. I’m sincerely sorry for doing that to her.”

New Findings Cast Increasing Doubt on Schiavo’s Death

As one of my friends put it so well during this ordeal....since when in the United States do we starve someone to death??

Bobby Schindler writes of the latest finding of the New England Journal of Medicine ,Feb. 3, 2010 on findings of awareness in patients previously diagnosed with Persistent Vegetative State (PVS) .This was used as one of the deciding factors in whether Terri Schaivo should have food and water discontinued . These important findings are crucial to those fighting for the rights of the disabled loved ones and a call to action to protect them from careless legislation or the idea that a person with a disability must prove themselves worthy of life’s most ordinary needs: food and water.

Another officer confused about the interpretation of Bubble Zone

As Sidewalk Counselors and Prayer Warriors to pray outside of Planned Parenthood at in Chicago, they were subjected to yet another interpretation of the Bubble Zone law ,

Police officer returns and is confused about the Bubble Law....8 feet, 10 feet. She told me that the difference was insignificant. Holding her hands about 10 inches apart, she said “eight feet, ten feet, it’s this much.”

"Maybe she meant two baby feet, because that’s not two standard feet with 12 inches in each!"

Abortion, Ripplers and your home values

Ashli of  thesiclecell.blogspot.com highlights this story that discusses the demand for housing as it relates to the shortages of buyers versus sellers.

"There is a shortage of young people all over the country relative to the number of seniors in the future, so they'll all need to step up to meet the supply of homes for sale," says Myers.

"Since 1973 an entire generation of human beings, I call them the ripplers, has been wiped out." And we are practically stupid to think that the loss of this many people will have little or no effect on us morally, emotionally, socially, financially. Mary Shelley's message was a good one: mess with mother nature, get Frankenstein (in oh so many ways). So I contend that part of the reason your home value may be in question is due to the rippler effect. Remember that the next time you tell someone abortion isn't your issue."

Former Clinton OB GYN who is now an abortionist thanks prayer warriors for free advertising

AR-based abortionist (and former OB/GYN to Hillary Clinton) William Harrison (pictured below left) 40 Days for Life participants thanking them for protesting because he thinks it will show people where they can get an abortion:

Harrison wrote an email to the organizers of the protest, saying they're more than welcome to demonstrate because it'll show their children and newcomers where to get an abortion.
WilliamHarrison-ABC News.jpg
"You know, we have a lot of new people in the area. And since we don't do any advertising, a lot of people don't know the services that we offer. So I am glad they're over there," said Harrison. And he admits he even joked around in the e-mail, telling them to look serious and to bring priests along, or else it'll deliver the wrong message.

Planned Parenthood Secretly Moving to East Knoxville

In December, Planned Parenthood of Middle and East Tennessee (PPMET) closed its Downtown West office, and temporarily shared office space with a local abortion doctor.  After the doctor's lease on his office was non-renewed by the hospital group who owned the building, ProCET learned that PPMET would be moving to a location on Cherry Street.  Subsequently, it was learned that PPMET had purchased a 4,000 sq ft medical building located at 710 N Cherry Street through a company established to disguise their true identity from the public.
According to the building's previous owner, neither he nor his broker were made aware of PPMET's true identity.  The seller has advised ProCET that the transaction was brokered by NAI Knoxville.  This past August, NAI was one of more than 50 commercial realtors in Knoxville who were notified about how PPMET might try to deceive an agent or seller.
ProCET is coordinating a response with leaders of the African-American community.  Stay tuned to find out how you can get involved.

Planned Parenthood Approved in Knox County Schools?

Are your children and grandchildren being taught radical views of teen sexuality by America's largest abortion provider?  If your students are in Knox County's public schools, the answer is - quite possibly.  In a newsletter released by Planned Parenthood of Middle and East Tennessee (PPMET), PPMET-Knoxville representative, Ginny Ramseyer Winter, claims Knox County School officials have approved five PPMET lesson plans for Lifetime Wellness classes.  According to Winter, PPMET's instructors are now available to all thirteen Knox County high schools.
This seems to coincide with a new initiative by Planned Parenthood of New York City, who recently announced their We're Going to the Principal's Office campaign, which is designed to persuade school principals to utilize Planned Parenthood's curriculum for sex ed training.
Parents are encouraged to learn more about Planned Parenthood's radical views on teen sexuality by visiting TeenWireTakeCareDownThere, or FYI:Educating Peers About Sex (NOTE: Access to this Facebook Group was closed to the public after this article appeared)WARNING: These websites contain graphic content.  To prevent Planned Parenthood from gaining access to your schools, contact your school administration, school board members and principals.

She wants to drop birth control out of airplanes

by Sarah Mirk
Feb. 18th
Portland Mecury

HERE'S AN UNUSUAL claim to fame: One in 10 Oregon women rely on Planned Parenthood for their reproductive health care needs. Per capita, that's more Planned Parenthood use than any other state in the nation. Last Sunday, February 14, Planned Parenthood cut the ribbon on their new $12 million NE Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard headquarters in Portland with the help of national Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards and Regional President David Greenberg.
MERCURY: If you could write the national health care bill, what would it look like?
CECILE RICHARDS: We would make sure reproductive health care is considered part of basic health care, which it is for every woman. In an ideal world, women would be able to get every kind of reproductive health care they need—including abortion services.
So would that mean free birth control for people at all income levels?
RICHARDS: I think investing in family planning is the smartest investment the federal government can make, so I think they should just be dropping it out of airplanes and it should be free for every woman. It's incredible that the US still leads the western industrialized nations in unintended pregnancy, and especially in teen pregnancy.

Opinion: Right to die or right to kill? The difference is not subtle

Excellent article and food for thought.....abortion leads to euthanasia .....if this is being debated in Canada our neighbor we are not far behind.......

"If we do nothing, we will have no one to blame but ourselves when the doctor steps around the curtain and, with a mischievous gleam in his eye, says, “Oh, Mr. Duren, you’re not looking well today. I have just the thing for you.”

By Marty Duren
Thursday, February 18, 2010

(ABP) -- Grandma might not get run over by a reindeer, but if influential Canadian doctors have their way, she may end up just as dead.
Canadian physicians are now ready to debate the merits of euthanasia according to Gaétan Barrette, president of the Federation of Quebec Medical Specialists and the Quebec College of Physicians. Testifying before the Quebec government's legislative committee on the “right to die with dignity,” Barrette reported that euthanasia is already being practiced in the province.
Barrette “asked for the province to develop clear policies on how doctors can bring about a patient's death, stating that currently doctors believe they could be charged with murder for giving a ‘palliative sedative’ to a patient before they have reached the point of death,” according to a report February 16, 2010, on lifesitenews.com.

At issue is the difference between palliative sedation (the use of drugs to ease pain near the end of life) resulting in death from an accidental overdose and euthanasia, which is the purposeful ending of a patient’s life. Some Canadian physicians see this debate on par with the abortion debate of decades ago.
In 1979, C. Everett Koop and Francis Schaeffer published their monumental work, Whatever Happened to the Human Race?, warning that the legalization of abortion would inexorably lead to euthanasia. The authors state, “How did the concept of euthanasia get such a head start in the seventies? We must keep referring back to abortion -- because it is the Supreme Court decision on abortion (1973's Roe v. Wade) that stated that ‘only viable human beings who have the capability for meaningful life may, but need not, be protected by the state.’ That statement could be a death warrant for many in a few years.”

After delay, House honors young anti-abortion orator

Dispatch Politics Thursday,
February 18, 2010 3:20
AM By Jim Siegel

The word abortion was not uttered yesterday as the controversy ended over honoring a young woman in the Ohio House for winning an oratory contest sponsored by National Right to Life. Elizabeth Trisler, a 19-year-old from Shelby County, was given honorary resolutions on the floors of both the House and Senate for her accomplishment, less than a week after Speaker Armond Budish, D-Beachwood, reversed an initial decision to deny her the presentation. "I am happy that we were able to present the award to Ms. Trisler," Budish said. "There are no written rules or guidance as to which resolutions get presented on the floor. (House Minority Leader William Batchelder) and I will be talking about how to proceed in the future."

Saying the content was too divisive for what is usually a feel-good ceremony honoring sports teams and individual accomplishments, Budish originally had said that although Trisler could get a resolution, Rep. John Adams, R-Sidney, could not present it on the House floor. The decision drew fire from House Republicans, Ohio Right to Life and the American Civil Liberties Union of Ohio, which each accused the speaker of trying to silence someone who shared a different view on abortion.  Budish, who favors abortion rights, changed his position on the resolution last Thursday. "Through her remarkable efforts, she has set an example worthy of emulation," Adams said before presenting Trisler with the resolution.

Although Trisler was honored for her oratory skills, she also understands brevity. She said nothing in the Senate, and in the House said: "I'd like to say thank you to everyone who has made this possible. I'm extremely humbled, and I hope to see you all in the future." When she finished in the House, Republicans quickly jumped to their feet to give her a standing ovation. About half of House Democrats also rose, though more slowly. With the spotlight on abortion, Senate Republicans did not waste the moment. Soon after presenting Trisler with a resolution, the Senate voted 21-9 for a resolution urging Congress to oppose any legislation that would increase access or funding for abortion.

TN Legislators voted to honor Hedy Weinberg ACLU head. Update !!!

Update 2-18-10!!
My what a difference a day makes.... it seems that the original resolution highlighted below was pulled off the consent calendar and replaced with this resolution. At first blush it looks like the same resolution but......someone has advised them to take out the references to her specific advocacy on certain issues that would be "hot button" to their constituents .....issues she is proud  enough of to highlight but in order to get votes needed....eliminated from the glaring view of the voters. This new and improved ??version was quickly voted on yesterday in the senate with a 26-0-4. It has now been placed on the House Calendar for Monday , the 22nd. Read both resolutions and see if how you want your Rep voting for you on this one. You can find contact info. for your rep here. As one rep. just told me....well we voted for a resolution to honor Michael Jackson, what next???

TN legislators of the liberal persuasion snuck one by with this resolution and little benign cooperation from the other side .

Today  the state senate  voted to honor the head of the TN ACLU! She was recently profiled by ultra liberal Tennessean editorial page director Dwight Lewis. Amazingly enough she was even nominated to be considered as Tennessean of the Year....an honor she did not receive. In this article, Lewis asked her what she was most proud of...... she  answered as follows:

"In the early '90s, there was a case out of East Tennessee, the frozen embryo case that dealt with who was going to have custody. The judge, I think it was Justice (Cissy) Daughtrey, issued an opinion ruling there was a right to privacy as it pertains to procreation. Recognizing that, ACLU decided that this was a good time to really try to expand and protect reproductive freedom rights for women in Tennessee. So, what we did was to look at what we understood had long been a problem with some of the provisions in the Tennessee abortion statute that were fairly burdensome restrictions on women's ability to access abortion services.

We decided it was best to challenge those provisions. We went to Planned Parenthood and asked them to join in with us, and we ... filed a lawsuit challenging several restrictions in the Tennessee abortion statute. It took a good six years, but it was a monumental decision that the Tennessee Supreme Court, in fact, issued and it was the first time the court dealt with the abortion issue. And what they said in their opinion was that there is a right to privacy that pertains to abortion. That was a very exciting decision because we were expanding rights for women in Tennessee."

She is most proud  common sense regulations around abortion voted into law by duly elected bi partisan members of the legislature were struck down as unconstitutional and the activist judges found that our state constitution written in the 1800's held a right to abortion!

So....NO INFORMED CONSENT BEFORE ABORTION
NO  48  HOUR WAITING PERIOD
NO HOSPITALIZATION REQUIREMENT FOR SECOND TRIMESTER ABORTIONS.

The public proclamation states in part........that she endeavors to ensure that the voiceless, receive the protections guaranteed them by our founding fathers; and........throughout her estimable career, Ms. Weinberg has sought to ensure  the constitutional rights of all Tennesseans.
How many voices have been silenced for eternity, Ms Weinberg? How many women and men have been eternally wounded because they were vulnerable and received no or incomplete information or chance to reflect on their decision. How many women have been  harmed physically due to not receiving proper medical care in  abortion facilities that remain uninspected and  with no regulations  imposed on them. The abortion industry may smile on you but shame on the TN legislators who did.

Police investigate BBC broadcaster's claims that he killed his partner

I once heard someone from Hospice discuss this issue...basically he said that they have the ability to keep someone pain free until natural death so the claims that assisted suicide is necessary is bogus...as a Christian we accept that God decides when death comes and we are not to interfere. This is another example of someone who knows better than God but judging from his comments he is not a believer.

Ray Gosling, a BBC broadcaster, told Inside Out that he had smothered his lover in hospital
Police are to investigate claims made by a BBC broadcaster that he killed a former partner who was terminally ill.
Ray Gosling told the East Midlands' Inside Out programme, broadcast last night, that he had agreed to smother his lover, who was living with Aids, if his suffering became too intense.
Gosling said that his partner had been in hospital in "terrible pain" when a doctor told him there was nothing more that could be done.
He said that he asked the doctor to leave them alone and then, "I picked up the pillow and smothered him until he was dead".

Pro-abortion license plates approved for VA but with a surprising twist!!

Updated: Tuesday, 16 Feb 2010, 4:26 PM EST

AP: Published : Wednesday, 17 Feb 2010, 12:25 AM EST

RICHMOND, Va. - The House and Senate have passed bills to create an abortion-rights license plate, but the GOP-controlled House balked at sending proceeds to an organization that performs the procedures.
The Senate voted 26-8 to create the "Trust Women/Respect Choice" plates. After the first 1,000 plates are sold, $15 from each $25 plate would go to Planned Parenthood. The House voted 77-22 for the plate, but it diverted the proceeds to an unused fund that supports women with unplanned pregnancies.
This is so rich......the funds will go to help women in unplanned pregnancy....not to kill their babies but  for The Virginia Pregnant Women Support Fund  which was created in 2007 to "support women and families who are facing unplanned pregnancy" and is managed by the Board of Health. A brainchild of Senator Phil Puckett (D-38, Tazewell) and Delegate Ward Armstrong (D-10, Martinsville), the overarching goals of the fund are to provide funding for ultrasound machines, parenting programs, domestic violence/sexual assault education, vocational/academic support, and free home visits by nurses.

As required by law, Planned Parenthood has presold more than 350 of the plates. What! In TN you need to presell 1500 plates before they will begin production.

If the funds don't go to Planned Parenthood, supporters warned it could set up a constitutional challenge because Virginia last year passed a "Choose Life" plate and courts have said states can't favor one viewpoint over another.
What's their problem...they get their plate and get to help women, I thought that is what they were all about.

Why shouldn't she respond?? Trig is off limits periodsays Sarah

 Responding to everything !!!
Ben Smith
Politico
Picture from Boston.com

Politico kind of mocks here for responding to this latest attack but why shouldn't she respond when they attack her children especially mocking her special needs child. What mother wouldn't? When is enough enough!!

The bawdy Fox cartoon "Family Guy" features a mentally disabled girl whose mother is governor of Alaska, and Palin, naturally, responds:
People are asking me to comment on yesterday’s Fox show that felt like another kick in the gut. Bristol was one who asked what I thought of the show that mocked her baby brother, Trig (and/or others with special needs), in an episode yesterday. Instead of answering, I asked her what she thought. Here is her conscientious reply, which is a much more restrained and gracious statement than I want to make about an issue that begs the question, “when is enough enough?”:

“When you’re the son or daughter of a public figure, you have to develop thick skin. My siblings and I all have that, but insults directed at our youngest brother hurt too much for us to remain silent. People with special needs face challenges that many of us will never confront, and yet they are some of the kindest and most loving people you’ll ever meet. Their lives are difficult enough as it is, so why would anyone want to make their lives more difficult by mocking them? As a culture, shouldn’t we be more compassionate to innocent people – especially those who are less fortunate? Shouldn’t we be willing to say that some things just are not funny? Are there any limits to what some people will do or say in regards to my little brother or others in the special needs community? If the writers of a particularly pathetic cartoon show thought they were being clever in mocking my brother and my family yesterday, they failed. All they proved is that they’re heartless jerks. - Bristol Palin”

Pro-life statement from Yahoo! Sports?

Pro life comment from  Nancy W: "Bet PP would take issue with the first paragraph. ;) Don’t you have to be “human” to be a member of a team?"

As with all curling teams, Team Canada features five members. Well, six, if you really want to get technical with it.

Alternate Kristie Moore, 30, is 5½ months pregnant, making her just the second athlete ever known to be with child during Olympic competition. Ninety years ago, Swedish figure skater Magda Julin won a gold medal at the Antwerp Games while in her first trimester.
Though she is showing (as evidenced in the picture above), Moore says that her pregnancy has not affected her ability to deliver rocks ... yet. "[In] the eighth month or so, that might be an issue," she said.

Moore found out about her pregnancy weeks before team officials invited her to join Team Canada as an alternate. When she divulged her secret, the team was more than supportive. Said team leader Cheryl Bernard, "she is young and fit. There's no reason we'll have any problems, and she'll be out there."

Barring unforeseen problems with the other four members of the team, it's unlikely Moore will see any Olympic action. During competition her role as an alternate is much like a backup quarterback in football: She'll be called on if needed. Moore has said that although she'd like to get out on the ice, doing so would mean having to play at the expense of someone else's injury.

Team Canada is the gold-medal favorite in the women's curling event, which begins Tuesday and runs through Friday of next week. Even if Moore doesn't play, she will receive any medal Canada wins.

How to win a pro abortion argument

This is my mentor Scott Klusendorf. Everyone should know the sled argument and be able to articulate it.

Will someone please think about the children ?

Trent Horn of Justice for All writes a thought provoking article  about the plot of  the excellent movie The Boy in the Striped Pajamas  of parents living near extermination camps during World War II and shielding the truth from their own children while having no concern for the people being killed in these camps.  This is in response to the critics complaining that pro lifers are insensitive to having graphic images in areas where they can be viewed by born children.

"But . . . is this any less morally perverse than the fact that most people in America today are more concerned about children seeing images of abortion than by the thousands of children being killed by abortion every year in their own neighborhoods?"

Commercial Appeal's editorial does puff peice on Planned Parenthood highlighting services they don't even advertise

Chris Peck: Honest talk on sex is way overdue
Commercial Appeal in Memphis .....
Feb. 14th

This editorial  is a ppp, puff propaganda piece for Planned Parenthood...I suggest you refresh your memory about Memphis Planned Parenthood by watching the video at the bottom of this post.
After watching this video see what Planned Parenthood calls sex education. Look up this website sponsored by Planned Parenthood.  Fair warning....this is disgusting especially considering that our tax money pays for this  in the name of sex education. But wait, it gets better....

He quotes Carr from Planned Parenthood.....''Contraception and prenatal care are most of what we do,'' explained Joan Carr, director of community relations for Planned Parenthood of Greater Memphis.

Really!  I looked at the website for PP in Memphis and if prenatal care is large part of their services why do they not even list it on  their services page?   I know when one legislator in Nashville asked Jeff Teague, Director of PP in middle and East TN what prenatal care  they offer, he said they give samples of prenatal vitamins!!
Peck further makes the astonishing statement  that one of their services is how to nurture  a healthy baby!
"But most of the clinic's work is devoted to helping poor women and very young women, including high school girls, get honest information about how to prevent pregnancy, how to avoid sexually transmitted diseases and how to nurture a healthy baby" ...

Again, their  own website doesn't even list nurturing a healthy baby or parenting  as one of their services.Read their own list from their website here.

IMPORTANT PRO-LIFE LEGISLATION INTRODUCED

This is from the Legislative update from TN Eagle Forum....Bobbie Patray.

FREEDOM FROM COERCION ACT:
SB 3812 by *Johnson ( *HB 3301 by *Lynn)
Abortion - As introduced, enacts the "Freedom from Coercion Act."
This very important piece of legislation is being sponsored by
Tennessee Right to Life
. We know that many women, if not forced, are coerced, into having abortions and that is just wrong.  Among other provisions, this bill requires that a notice be posted in clinics, or other facilities that perform abortions notifying the patients that it is against law for them to be coerced to have an abortion against their will and that they have the right to contact law enforcement to receive protection. The patient will be informed that an abortion cannot be performed on her unless she provides her freely given, voluntary and informed consent.

CRIMES AGAINST THE UNBORN CHILD:
*HB 3495 by *Evans ( SB 3699 by *Black)
Criminal Offenses - As introduced, specifies that when a defendant commits a homicide or assault against a pregnant woman, the woman's fetus, regardless of viability, is also considered a victim of the offense.
This is an issue that we have long been interested in and twice in years gone by have sponsored bills that would hold criminals responsible for killing an unborn baby in an assault against a pregnant woman. Note – this has nothing to do with abortion, but criminal assault.
