Baltimore's declining population can be linked to high abortion rates

Diana Schaub is professor of political science at Loyola University Maryland and a member of the Hoover Institution's Task Force on the Virtues of a Free Society. She posts an article in the Baltimore Sun that is sure to cause some stir with its frankness. The article points out the "decline in population for six straight decades that has reduced the population by a third." Now the mayor of Baltimore wants to start a program to increase the population by 22,000 in 10 years. The article makes some stark observations, but the people have to stop burying their head in the sand first.

"The decline of marriage, particularly among African-Americans, is all too familiar. Not as well-known is that Maryland has a very high abortion rate (third highest among the states in 2005, the year that the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene stopped collecting abortion statistics). The breakdown by jurisdiction reveals that Baltimore City is driving those deadly numbers, and also that the abortion rate among African-American women is at least triple the white rate."

The fact filled but hard hitting article ends with a quote from a famous work of art.....

"For a model of commitment to life, we might start with the great speech given by Mama to her feckless son in Lorraine Hansberry's 1959 play "A Raisin in the Sun": "I'm waiting to hear how you be your father's son. Be the man he was. ... Your wife say she going to destroy your child. And I'm waiting to hear you talk like him and say we a people who give children life, not who destroys them."

March for Life 2012...youth....church.....LIFE

Thanks to the nice people at KY Right to Life and many people of faith who chartered three buses to Washington DC and allowing a stowaway...I got to go to the March for Life for the first time. I always wanted to go and could not find anyone that I could go along with so I always went to our Nashville version of March for Life which is also very good.

But there is nothing like being a part of 400,000 people standing for the sanctity of human life. The march itself was not that long. The weather was rainy but it could have been worse and the standing still for the speeches were not that bad either. I enjoyed people watching....and I saw something AMAZING.

I saw the CHURCH STAND UP. The crowd was huge, the youth were in splendid display and the church was very visible. The crowd was civil and polite and tidy especially considering the rain and mud. Signs that were disposed were done so in trash barrels. I did not see any protesters and no indication of the Occupy Wall Streets squatters.

Perhaps I was just imagining I was in DC for this event because.....looking for news reports on this largest annual march you find the following:

Bob Smietana who writes for the Tennessean and USA Today said that thousands were there. Thousands...as in 400 thousand? He did profile some pro life students from Hendersonville TN who attended but in true liberal fashion referred to them as anti abortion as opposed to pro life. That is part of the MSM PC speech book.

NY Times ignored the event as it has for the the past five years. Washington Post posted a brief mention in the online version and opinion page that made it seem like small potatoes and had more concern for what streets would be closed off. Broadcast news outlets also passed on reporting for this event. Maybe this is why people lack trust for the MSM.

"Peter M. Kirsanow, a member of the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights, last year described how the commission is forbidden from examining the abortion disparity. He wrote, "Nearly one out of every two black pregnancies ends in abortion. Blacks account for more than 40 percent of all abortions in America, a rate that dwarfs that of any other race. Why the silence? Are some lives less valuable than others?"

"The very least those who recognize the inherent worth of every person, who claim compassion, can do is stand with those too young, too small, too weak to raise a sign that declares, "I am human."

Watch this wonderful story...I had heard about this in the past, but this update shows that apparently the miracle baby Jamie is doing well. Several things are brought to mind as I read this. First, I had to think of the ridiculous tirade of Alan Colmes in his attempt to mock Rick Santorum for taking his baby who lived only a few hours home to grieve with his children. He quickly apologized via Twitter when public scorn shamed him.

The next thing I thought of was how smart these parents were and only through their method of grieving and affirming Jamie's life actually saved his life. Note that the only way they could get the doctor to come back and actually see that they were not out of their minds was to say they had come to terms with the death of Jamie and only wanted his further explanation. Note how both the mom and dad shed their shirts so the baby could feel and smell their flesh. The mom even nursed her baby......listening Alan????

Tragedy at sea points to tragedy of new reality between sexes

Everyone is hearing about the terrible tragedy at sea.... how the crew and captain of the
Costa Concordia, grounded off the coast of Tuscany, carrying over 4K passengers acted cowardly and pushed women and children aside to jump into lifeboats. When I first heard the story, I remembered that many crew members were probably entertainers, waiters, store clerks, cleaners etc who were not trained in evacuation techniques. This does not excuse their behavior but helps us understand it. But the terrible tapes of the captain acting with such cowardice toward his ship and passengers in his care brought other thoughts to mind.

Rich Lowry wrote an excellent piece in the National Review contrasting the character of the captain and crew of the Titanic in years past to what just happened. No doubt, chivalry and honor appear to be dead. This brought to mind a piece by Albert Mohler on the state of manhood today. One of the unintended consequences of the feminists movement seems to be the feminizing of our men. We see this in the workforce and hear comments about this from men. They want to be equal, well let them do the heavy lifting. So in times of panic and tragedy, the men have not been raised to care for the women and children first but to have a view of "every man for himself" attitude.

We share in the blame of this new reality.

Estrich on dogs and babies.....isn't her character test flawed??

I can thank the Tennessean newspaper for helping me cut down on caffeine. I am the type who wakes up slowly , but before my second cup is finished I am bolted wide awake by something I read in the Tennessean.

Today they had an opinion piece by Susan Estrich, the Democrat strategist and former campaign manager for Michael Dukakis. I could not find it online at the Tennessean but found the column online. I note the Tennessean made up their own headline of ....His dog will tell you a lot about a man.

It told a story about the late President Richard Nixon I had never heard....that he once fled his burning home leaving his dog behind. Then she told another story I had never heard ...that Romney tells of a family vacation years ago when they carried the family dog in a crate on top of the car for 12 hours. Now I must admit that this sounds strange since the family is not poor but they did have five children. So Susan goes on to suggest that you can tell a lot about the true character of a man who would treat his dog that way.

She then gushes over her three dogs.......

"I am the mother of three loving dogs: Judy Jarvis Estrich, Molly Isabel Estrich and Irving A. Estrich. Sometimes, being the worrywart that I am, I actually spend time thinking about how I would round up my dogs in the car in case there was a tsunami or a fire. It goes without saying that I would never leave without them."

Well.......Susan.....first of all it is fine for us to say what we would do in the event we were caught in a fire but we may not live up to our own wonderful expectations. I surely hope all your three dogs are together when your house catches on fire or obey your commands in an emergency.

BUT, what I further thought as I read you ridiculous tirade demeaning the Republicans is the time you went on national television to talk about your two abortions. Susan is a strong supporter of abortion rights and Planned Parenthood. She discussed her two abortions....the first, per Susan, was a child conceived in rape. We all agree that rape is a horrible act of violence against a woman. She did not mention what happened, if anything, to the perpetrator of the rape but she had an abortion. Here is a hard but true fact. That child was totally innocent and paid the price for the crime of the father with his/her life. The second abortion was because a dr. advised her that her baby had a terrible defect. Again.....so terrible to hear but , for Susan, the answer was not to carry to term and care for the child as long as he/she lived. The answer was abortion. How final.....how sad.

Susan waxes on how Judy, her oldest dog, prefers the front seat but really the back is safer...says we can tell a lot about the character of a man by the way he treats his dogs.

All this from a woman who wouldn't treat her dogs the way she treated her children.

Do pro life billboards help or hurt???

After Abortion has apost about a subject that is currently being discussed on the value ofbillboards on abortion. This personal post of a post abortive women says that achurch sign that abortion is murder kept her out of church for some time afterher abortion. She eventually went to church and finally joined a post abortionbible study that helped her find true freedom.

"Doesn't the world, and especially the Christians inthis world, think that, once we grieve and regret our abortions, evenprivately, that we alreadyknow exactly what it was that we've done??"

So it is interesting that this came across my desk because I have recently been in discussion on this very issue with a director of a PRC. She agrees with the sentiments of this post. I wrote to her all the reasons why I liked these signs. I saw them as a way to educate abortion vulnerable women especially in a state that does not require informed consent. I also felt it pricked the conscience of a society and in particular the church who do not care to get involved and ignore the 53 million babies being slaughtered in our country.

So after articulating all my reasons why such billboards are true and need to be out there, I read this post which caused me to pause and reconsider. I still like pro life billboards and have heard of testimonies of women going for an abortion who turned around after seeing one....BUT

Hospital refuses kidney transplant for mentally retarded child

In a society that has decided that quality of life trumps sanctity of human life, are we surprised that the medical profession has decided that those with disabilities do not deserve to have life saving treatments because they are considered less than perfect. We as a society will be judged on how we treat the weakest and most vulnerable among us. I would say we receive a failing grade. With Obamacare things like this will become routine. This is a hospital in Philadelphia....the city of brotherly love.

"In a post entitled Brick Walls, Chrissy Rivera, Amelia’s mother, writes that her daughter’s doctor had told them that she would need a kidney transplant in 6 months to a year. Rivera then describes how another doctor accompanied by a social worker told her and her husband, Joe — Amelia had fallen asleep in her stroller — that Amelia would not be “eligible” for a transplant even with a family donor because she is “..already brain damaged and mentally retarded.” Rivera recounts a very painful exchange that followed during which she said:
“So you mean to tell me that as a doctor, you are not recommending the transplant, and when her kidneys fail in six months to a year, you want me to let her die because she is mentally retarded? PP looks to friendly media outlets and can always count on the abortion supporting Tennessean to prop them up. This write up glorifies the PG 13 players (stands for Peer Guidance) that are recruited and trained by Planned Parenthood....the nation's largest promoter and provider of abortions. They were recently booked to do their "real life skits" at Rocketown, a Christian teen night spot. When the public objected strenuously,they were moved to a secular venue.

They are peddling their no boundaries skits to other venues such as the public schools and are ready and willing to bring their version of real life into the classroom but must have the invitation of the teacher and approval of the principal. Recently liberal NY school kicked PP out for telling students that abstinence includes oral sex.

"In the second skit, Joy Bhowmick, a senior at Martin Luther King Jr. Magnet High School, was disappointed by her new boyfriend’s lack of enthusiasm in the bedroom. “Sex equals love,” she told him, and she secretly told a friend that she was seeing another guy, too."

Planned Parenthood website suggests that the booking cost of $175.00 although they enjoy tax money and acknowledge financial support from private organizations as well. Check out the award winning educational venue from PPFA that directs your child to the local PP.

"The bishop of the Diocese of Scranton is publicly expressing his disapproval with the University of Scranton for allowing a former U.S. congresswoman who supported abortion access bills to speak on campus.

Marjorie Margolies, who represented a suburban Philadelphia congressional district from 1993-1995, is the keynote speaker for a Jan. 28 program for women who want to run for office.

Bishop Joseph. C. Bambera asked that the university withdraw the invitation to Mr. Margolies, and the university refused......

Despite the university's lack of endorsement of the personal views of the keynote speaker, as a Jesuit and Catholic university, the inclusion of Ms. Margolies in a University-sponsored program has created concern and confusion among members of the Christian faithful," Bishop Bambera said in the statement. "Thereby, in this instance, the university's charge as a Catholic institution of higher learning to permeate 'all university activities' with 'Catholic teaching and discipline' has been compromised."

1992: Steven Brigham, a few years out of medical school, voluntarily forfeits his Pennsylvania medical license to end an investigation into his Wyomissing clinic. The landlord had successfully sued him for concealing his plans to perform abortions.
1994: New York state takes Brigham's license for botching late-term abortions, one begun in Voorhees, calling him "undertrained" with "submarginal abilities."
1995: Florida revokes Brigham's license based on New York's action.
1996: New Jersey regulators try to revoke Brigham's license for botching bi-state abortions. An administrative judge reinstates the license.

June 2009: A clinic that will not divulge an address, Grace Medical Care, begins online advertising for "abortions up to 36 weeks." Other abortion providers ask New Jersey regulators to investigate, to no avail.
April 2010: The IRS places $234,536 in liens against Brigham for failing to pay payroll taxes from 2002 to 2006.

Dec. 28, 2011: Brigham is arrested and charged by Maryland with multiple counts of murder. He is accused of aborting viable fetuses.

Carleton College in Candada continues to discriminate against pro life speech

Carleton University Pro-Life Group May be Kicked Off Campus

The pro-life students involved with the pro-life organization at Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada have faced attacks on their free speech rights for years and now the organization faces a new one.
This week, the former Canadian Federation of Students national deputy chair Shelly Melanson proposed a referendum question to the Carleton University Students’ Association (CUSA) which is creating a firestorm of controversy. The proposed question involves censoring certain groups, specifically pro-life organizations.
The referendum asks: “Are you in favor of banning groups such as Lifeline, the Genocide Awareness Project, Campaign for Life Coalition and other organizations that use inaccurate information and violent images to discourage women from exploring all options in the event of pregnancy from Carleton University?”
The question has been added to CUSA’s Write of Referenda for 2012, which indicates that the referenda will be held concurrently with the 2012 General Elections.
“Carleton Lifeline has already been decertified as a university club,” said Taylor Hyatt, co-president of Lifeline, the pro-life student group. “What this referenda question amounts to is an attempt to not only censor pro-life students, but ostensibly have them evicted from Carleton’s campus. Is Carleton University and CUSA going to start removing students for doing pro-life activities?”
Carleton Lifeline was decertified and defunded by CUSA in December of 2010, several months after five pro-life students were arrested on campus by police officers summoned by campus security for attempting to erect a graphic display, the Genocide Awareness Project.
Former Lifeline president Ruth (Lobo) Shaw, who was arrested at Carleton in 2010 for engaging in free speech about abortion, commented, “Carleton University and the student union have already made every attempt to silence students who attempt to have a discussion about abortion. They’ve already handcuffed Carleton students and put them in paddy wagons once. Is Ms. Melanson advocating for this to be standard university procedure when faced with dissenting views?”
Brandon Wallingford, the CUSA Arts and Social Sciences Councillor, decried the question as an infringement upon freedom of speech and noted that pro-life students were not the only group targeted.
“It is disturbing that there are those who wish to ban opposing points of view instead of engaging in the type of mature discussion that universities used to be famous for,” said Wallingford. “Instead, we have individuals showing a callous disregard for the rights of those who disagree with them, as is indicated by their attempt at further censoring and banning other student groups on campus including my club, the Firearms Association of Carleton University. These attacks on the rights of Carleton students, whether they be pro-life students or students who enjoy sport shooting, are disgusting and a violation of their fundamental freedoms of expression and association.”
Trespassing charges that had been pressed against pro-life students at Carleton University for putting up a pro-life displayed banned by the administration of their own college campus were withdrawn in November.
On October 4, 2010, Carleton University had members of Lifeline handcuffed, arrested, charged and fined with trespassing for attempting to display an exhibit that the University administration deemed disturbing and offensive due to the graphic nature of the display. In November 2010, Carleton University’s administration provided Lifeline with an ultimatum regarding the expression of their opinions and threatened further arrests.
The University deemed the pro-life display to be “offensive” and directed the Ottawa Police Service to arrest and charge four Carleton University tuition-paying students and a Queen’s University student with trespassing. The charges were scheduled to proceed to trial.
The Crown stated that the basis for withdrawing the trespass charges is that the issues dealing with the relationship between a university and its students was already being dealt with in Lobo et al. v. Carleton University et al., the civil action brought by two Carleton Lifeline members, Ruth (Lobo) Shaw and John McLeod, against Carleton University and members of its administration.
In July, the Ontario Superior Court heard a motion brought by Carleton University which sought to strike Carleton Lifeline’s Statement of Claim, the document initiating the lawsuit. Had the university been successful, this would have ended the suit. In a split decision, Justice Toscano Roccamo ordered that the action could continue but ordered Carleton Lifeline to make several amendments to its Statement of Claim.
In a subsequent decision regarding costs of the motion to strike, Justice Toscano Roccamo ordered the students to pay Carleton University’s legal costs in the amount of $18,400.87 plus applicable taxes. Carleton University had asked that the students pay $21, 467.68 in legal fees.
“We are pleased that the Crown has decided to withdraw these unjust charges” said Ruth (Lobo) Shaw, former president of Carleton Lifeline. “We have always maintained that we had the right to exhibit the Genocide Awareness Project on campus and that our arrest was unlawful. The withdrawal of these unjust charges is confirmation of that fact.”
Despite the withdrawal of the charges, the civil action against Carleton University is ongoing.
“Although we no longer need to defend ourselves against the trespassing charges, a lot of work still needs to be done to move our lawsuit against Carleton University along and to clarify the legal rights of students to campus free speech and expression,” said John McLeod, current president of Carleton Lifeline.
Kristan Hawkins, the president of the U.S.-based Students for Life of America, says her group strongly supports the Carleton pro-life club in its lawsuit.
“Students for Life of America stands behind Carleton Lifeline today in their lawsuit against Carleton University. The discrimination and persecution they have faced for their pro-life beliefs is unbelievable. Carleton Lifeline has been heroic in their courage in the face of this discrimination and has led the way in exposing the disgusting hypocrisy of their Administration,” she told LifeNews.com.
Carleton University had attempted to get a court to dismiss the lawsuit the pro-life student group at Carleton University brought over the decision by the Carleton University student association to uphold a decision it made last year to kick out the pro-life group. Carleton Lifeline lost its club status in November 2010 because of the student association’s policy against discrimination, which mandates that student clubs respect the so-called right to abortion. Without officially recognized status, the pro-life club won’t receive funding or access to space.

Recent study shows why the US needs more regulation of IVF clinics. Since the use of these clinics to conceive is paid out of pocket from the consumer there is a strong motivation for transferring several embryos. A single transfer can cost approximately $10K. The doctors are motivated to do as the client demands rather than lose a customer and they all want to tout their success rates.

One of the unintended consequences of multiple transfers is the temptation to selectively reduce (fancy word for picking out one of your offspring to abort). Sometimes it is based on the gender of the offspring and sometimes the perceived health and sometimes it is pure location (the one that the abortion instrument reaches first.) The motivation of the couple may be pure in the beginning but the slippery slope into abortion and destruction of the left over embryos is rapid. The more I learn about IVF clinics the more I think they should go away or at least be tightly regulated. I read the book Inconceivable by Sean and Carolyn Savage and by the end of the book, I could understand why the Catholic Church is opposed to IVF.

In Western Europe, where some countries pay for in-vitro fertilization, or IVF, many authorities recommend a single embryo transfer for women under 37 and a maximum of two embryos for women 37 to 40. For women over 40, three is often the limit by law.

The U.K. has tougher policies. Transferring three embryos in women under 40 is banned. And if doctors transfer more than three embryos, they must explain their actions to the fertility regulator. In 2010, about 65 percent of embryo transfers involved two embryos and 4 percent used three. The rest were single embryos.

Announcing 2nd Annual “Ask Them What They Mean by ‘Choice’” Blog Day, January 22

Our response last year to NARAL’s “Blog for Choice Day” was frankly spectacular.
The plan was simple.
Every year NARAL uses the anniversary of the infamous Roe v. Wade decision to try to talk up “choice.”
But last year pro-lifers banded together on our blogs, their blogs, Facebook, and Twitter to cut through their ambiguous chatter with the disquieting question, “What do you mean when you say, ‘choice’?”
In all, 99 pro-life bloggers and countless activists overwhelmed 90 pro-abortion bloggers to the point NARAL had to abandon its Twitter hashtag #BlogforChoiceDay mid-morning because we took it over.
The idea is simple. On January 22, any time you read pro-aborts spouting obscure “choice” rhetoric on a blog, website, Facebook, or Twitter, call them out on it. Ask them to explain what the “choice” euphemism means. Tweeters plan to use their #Tweet4Choice hashtag.
If you are a blogger, plan on posting about “choice” on January 22. Email me the name and url of your blog, and I will post you as a participant.

PG 13 ( stands for Peer Guidance in Planned Parenthood speak) teen actors recruited and trained by Planned Parenthood to do their skits at the club on Monday night, January 9th.

The Mission Statement

Why would a club founded on Christian principles with a board of pro life citizens want to give credibility to an organization that has wiped out a third of their generation and advocates for behavior that is contrary to respect and dignity of the youth? Planned Parenthood topics tout their anything goes lifestyle advocating for condom use and their sexual advice that is X rated. Fascinating article in Salon from a profiteer of abortion.... she is proud of her material benefits and staunchly defends abortion rights with some amazing comments.

Recently, Merle Hoffman gave a copy of her forthcoming memoir, “Intimate Wars,” to Sister Dorothy, a regular protester stationed outside Choices, the Queens, N.Y., abortion clinic that Hoffman founded.
“You know, it’s so honest,” Sister Dorothy told Hoffman after reading it, “but sometimes Satan cloaks himself in truth.”

She denounces the pro choice movement for their timidity....

The problem is that the pro-choice movement is uncomfortable with itself. I’ve always said that, and I’ve always believed that,” she says. “We’re not comfortable with the banner we’re under,” meaning that abortion is still largely a taboo even among pro-choice women. Part of the problem is that the natural constituency of pro-choice values is still largely silent. “You know how many women have had abortions?” Hoffman says. “Abortion is as American as apple pie. I think it’s one in three. But we’ll go on TV and say, ‘I just had my tits done or had a bikini wax,’ but not had an abortion. If you could see that constituency rise up at one point in time — but they don’t, because there’s this cloud.”

She has convinced herself that society hates abortion because they are anti woman. As she sees it, [the] " act of abortion positions women at their most powerful..." Wow....is she really meaning that the act of killing gives woman power? Probably, since Roe Vs. Wade basically says that a woman has dominion over the life in the womb. To live or die....such power and power can be a strong aphrodisiac.

She also writes about her own abortion, which occurred after she’d been running the clinic for several years, in similar terms. “With my choice I was fighting for the right of all women to define abortion as an act of love: love for the family one already has, and just as important, love for oneself. I was fighting to reclaim abortion as a mother’s act. It was an act of solidarity as significant as any other I had committed.” Years later, after the death of her husband, she adopted a daughter from Russia.

Talk about schizophrenic thinking....she aborts one child and adopts another and calls the abortion which she acknowledges" stops a beating heart" an act of love. I think Sister Dorothy comment is spot on.

“but sometimes Satan cloaks himself in truth.”

I have a feeling that Sister Dorothy's persistent prayerful presence may be the catalyst for this woman to come out of the industry much like Abby Johnson and others.

Homeless man arrested for setting fire at abortion facility in FL

So glad they caught the man who appears to be responsible for setting the fire at the Pensacola abortion facility. He is reported to be a homeless man who has a long record of felony convictions in several states including TN . He was riding in a stolen vehicle when he was apprehended.

The story tries to label him as being part of a pro life group but there is no evidence to that. He said he intentionally started the fire because he was "had a strong disbelief" in abortion. He set the fire in the middle of the night and stayed around long enough to make sure the blaze was going and then went to the shed behind a restaurant where he slept.

The story notes that the clinic was the site of almost daily "protests" of people carrying "Bibles, crosses and signs" but admit there was no violence associated with these "protests." They probably are referring to the 40 Days for Life that just concluded. They state that this man who does not sound mentally stable was "fueled by watching a young woman enter the clinic while he looked on with "protesters."

The affidavit shows that Rogers has felony convictions in Alabama, Tennessee and Missouri for burglary and in Mississippi for grand larceny.

More tax $$ more abortions....fewer adoptions. This headline sums up Planned Parenthood's own report.

The annual report for fiscal year 2008-2009 does not include abortion or adoption figures, but a PPFA Fact Sheet posted on its Web site and said to be current as of September 2010, states that 324,008 abortions were performed at Planned Parenthood clinics around the country in 2008.
According to PPFA’s annual report for fiscal year 2007-2008, in 2007 Planned Parenthood’s “adoption referrals to other agencies” totaled 4,912. In Fiscal Year 2010 that number was 841, a decrease of 82.8 percent.
The PPFA Fact Sheet states that adoption is included in 1 percent of services in 2008 (primary care and “other services” are included in that 1 percent), or 2,405 adoption referrals.

Despite scandals being unveiled in Planned Parenthood clinics and states working vigorously to defund them they manage to do well. It helps to have an ideologue in the White House.

Mother refuses abortion and receives a life saving heart transplant

Sweet story out of Chattanooga of faith and respect for human life. A young woman, Miracle McIntosh, had one child and was pregnant for a second time and also had a serious heart condition.

"McIntosh was diagnosed with postpartum cardiomyopathy in 2008 while carrying Zoei. It is a rare disorder in which a weakened heart is diagnosed within the final month of pregnancy or within five months after delivery, according to the U.S. National Library of Medicine's website."

The doctors recommended abortion but the mother refused.....

"I felt like God didn't bless me with a baby to abort her," said Miracle McIntosh.

It took faith but Miracle did deliver a baby girl and three years later received a heart transplant.

"She is determined and she has her faith in God. It's not in her hands anymore."

Young 16 year old girl is raped by 3 strange men and carries her baby girl to term. The baby is adopted at birth. Now this was 77 years ago and confidential adoption was the only option back then. The birth mother did receive updates on his birth daughter until the adoption agency changed management and then there was no more information.

When the birth mother was 94 years old, she was discovered by a biological grandson and went on to have a wonderful reunion. The baby reported that she grew up knowing she was adopted and had a happy life. She married and had six children including one son who became an astronaut and flew on four space missions.

So all I could think of was those who say that the only solution for rape is abortion. Just think of the generations that would have been wiped out. The birth mother felt nothing but love for the child who was conceived under such terrible circumstances. The child grew up in a happy and stable home.

Oh the blogs are a buzzing over the insensitive and telling comments by Alan Colmes criticizing Rick Santorum and his family for grieving the death of their child who lived after birth for only two hours.

I looked up to see if Colmes had any children and could not find that he did. Maybe that is why he does not understand that the death of a child is a big deal and the entire family who awaited the birth of Gabriel needed some closure. Colmes supports abortion on demand....kill and destroy the remains....out of sight out of mind. He was rightfully called out by Rich Lowry and obviously felt the heat because he tweeted that he apologized to Rick and Karen Santorum for his remarks and they graciously accepted his apology. Colmes used to be a comedian before he became a commentator. Not funny Colmes...

Watch a video of a recent debate on a college campus on the issue of should a doctor, provide or refer for abortion. The debaters are Stephanie Gray (Canadian Centre for Bioethical Reform) and Jovan Morales (Atheist Community of University of Ottawa);Sponsored by University of Ottawa Students for Life and University of Ottawa Medical Students for Life.It is always good to listen to an excellent debater such as Stephanie but I find it interesting that when she uses a portion of her time to show a video which she warns is graphic in part, there is an outburst of profanity from a male member of the audience. Sometimes the truth is just overwhelming.

Barbara Walters is a mother by adoption and pro choice. Where does she think those babies come from or is it a case of I have mine so now I don't really care? Walters hosts an annual show at this time of the year giving her opinion of the most fascinating people of the year. It is a mishmash of celebs, politico types and other news makers. Most of this year's nominees are infamous if not strange. But the most fascinating person of the year is the late Steve Jobs.

I find it interesting that she does not mention that he was adopted at birth and if his birth mother had considered him "products of conception" we would have not had the benefit of his wonderful mind and all the contributions he brought to us. No, she just does not mention that aspect. Steve was happy to be alive and not aborted as unplanned and unwanted.

Options counseling at Planned Parenthood means counseling for abortion. Why would they counsel you to options that do not make money? They don't! So don't let them give you the double talk that they support options other than abortions. Those that have left the industry tell us they were trained as sales people. They were to pick up on your hesitation or objections and then press with standard talking points. I remember Carol Everett who owned abortion mills in Houston saying ....we looked for their most vulnerable spot and then pressed on that point exaggerating it to make the only option .....abortion. She was paid a commission on each abortion. Do you think they pay counselors to refer for adoption or parenting. Read this analysis derived from their own reporting.
And who supports PP....we do with our tax money. 46% of their support comes from govt. funding. 2012 should be the year we end that.

Life is a wonderful gift we need to saveand preserve. Two years ago my family learned about a little girl named Karene,who lived in Armenia acountry east of Turkey.She had Spina Bifida, a handicap that causes her to be paralyzed from the waistdown. We decided that God was telling us to bring this girl into our family. Wedid all the paper work, background checks, passports, and visas needed for theadoption. We waited for over two years to obtain permission to depart for Armenia.Last winter we received word that Karene had been battling an infection sinceher fourth birthday in November. Finally in February we received word that sheprobably wasn’t going to make it. On February 28, my mother and I flew to Armeniato be with her in the last few minutes of her life. When we arrived at thehospital, we found Karene in a bare dirty little room. It also did not seemlike a hospital room because she had no IV; no monitors, no vital signs taken,and no medications. Not only was there not a place to wash your hands we laterlearned that this entire medical facility had no hot water.

Despite the inadequate medical care duringher many surgeries, suffering from malnutrition, and a general lack of care orconcern from the medical personnel, Karene held on to life . We spent the nexttwo weeks finishing paper work to adopt. After that, we had over twenty-fourhours of flight on a commercial airline before we arrived in America.

Now, eight months later, three of thosespent in Vanderbilt having eight surgeries Karene is flourishing in a new lifewith a new family.

Howis it possible that a child with so many disabilities survives coming so closeto the brink of death? God- Matt10:29 says, “Not even a sparrow, worth only half a penny; can fall to theground without your Father knowing it.” If God know s when a sparrow falls tothe ground wouldn’t he care more for a soul than a bird? Karene is God’screation, regardless of her unwanted ness, no matter what her handicaps are sheis a masterpiece of God. Life is precious because it’s a gift from God. He gaveKarene life and when it would seem that it was over he gave it back again.

Freedom of choice is something that sets the wonderful nation ofAmerica apart from others. People having the right to chose where they work,how they dress, how they worship, and what they enjoy to take part in makes ourunique country thrive. But who draws the line between having freedom and onebeing free to do whatever he or she wants? Does the government have theauthority to decide who lives and who dies?

Abortion is considered to be carried out as a result ofthe pregnant woman’s choice. Instead of allowing a family who cannot bearchildren of their own to adopt the living baby within them, many women, end thelife of the child out of selfishness and lack of respect for human life. Eventhough many may argue that it is the woman’s choice, abortion is wrong.

Life is a gift from GodHimself. One without life is dead. A heart without a beating rhythm is dead.This is why our country holds the right to life. It is through life that thingsare accomplished, begun, and transformed. America, which once stood as the landof opportunity, freedom, and as one nation under God, has been drasticallychanged into a culture of death It is not the parent’s decision if the childlives or dies.

Only Godhas the authority to decide the final days of one’s existence. Innocence issomething that this nation has done away with. People of all ages are pushed todo something they do not want to do, or have never thought of doing. By robbingthose who are too young to stand up for themselves of their right to life, weare literally robbing from our nation’s future. The innocent, harmless, unbornlives within the womb should not be the target of our selfishness,irresponsibility, or pride.

Whether in the womb or not, the terrible act of abortion ismurder because it is the slaying of a human life, which is a gift from God, andit should never be taken for granted.

Accepting Abundance and Coming Home discuss a Minnesota high school pep rally “practical joke” which involved students who were blindfolded and then kissed passionately – by their parents.
Big Blue Wave posts about a study in which researchers tried to determine whether injecting potassium chloride into the hearts of preborn children effectively speeds up abortion time. Death by painful heart attack or death by dismemberment – a hideous “choice.”

Culture Campaign reports on a disturbing study which shows that young teens engaging in group sex do so largely because of partner coercion as well as pornography. Researchers say “group sex is much more prevalent among young people than is commonly believed, and that has implications for parents, educators, and health care providers.”
The Family Research Council has information on a domestic study of child sex trafficking by state. Is your state among the least likely to protect minors?
Live Action points out the outrageous claims abortion proponents are making against Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker because of his decision to re-route breast cancer prevention funds from Planned Parenthood to county health departments. Naturally, pro-choicers are claiming his decision will “kill women.”
Minnesota Citizens Concerned for Life writes that the University of Minnesota has won an award for its successful – and dishonest – campaign against legislation that would have prohibited human cloning.

NJ nurses reach settlement: will not be forced to assist in abortions

12 NJ nurses with religious objections to abortions stand their ground and accomplish their goal of standing on principle and keeping their jobs. Good for them.

Under the agreement, 12 nurses in the same-day surgery unit of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey can remain in their current positions and not be compelled to assist in any part of an abortion procedure. The nurses must only help in a life-threatening emergency if no other non-objecting staff members are available and only until which time one can be brought in to relieve them, according to the agreement.

Some commenters showed their displeasure pointing out that most of the objectors were foreign born and working here on visas. Commenter suggests that they should obey our laws or choose another profession. Well, as nurses they are to assist in healing and caring for life....not ending life intentionally which is what abortion does. So it is legal.... so was slavery at one time. Good for the foreign born nurses taking a stand for life. They are leading by example. May their numbers increase.

Racpan Vinoya and two other nurse plaintiffs attended court Thursday. All but four nurses in their unit had signed on to the lawsuit filed Oct. 31 after they said they were notified in writing the previous month that the hospital’s new policy would require same-day surgery unit nurses to assist in abortions.

This is what is meant by not cooperating with an "intrinsic evil." Same day surgeries do elective abortions and the only time the mother's life is in danger is when the abortion goes poorly. A successful abortion only demands the life of the offspring.

The ACLU, which was not party to the suit, said it was concerned about a growing number of similar cases around the country as what the organization sees as an effort to use religion to discriminate in a health care context.

Of course the ACLU would oppose this. They are busy trying to make sure that nothing interferes with abortion. These nurses are trained to heal not destroy. The ACLU have different views when it comes to defending religious beliefs when it comes to those who volunteer to serve in the military but do not want to be deployed to defend the country. In this case religious views are upheld by them.

The ACLU of Southern California (2007) represents Calvin Chee Keong Lee, a Buddhist-Taoist conscientious objector who enlisted in the U.S. Army shortly after arriving in the United States from Malaysia. Currently stationed in Ft. Irwin, California and scheduled for imminent deployment to Iraq, Lee sought discharge from the Army based on his religious beliefs, which compel him not to kill or cause injury to others. When he enlisted, Lee believed that he would be able to remain in his civilian construction job.

Mom lies at 45 degree angle for 3 mos. to prevent miscarriage

Neat story out of the UK of a woman who spent three mos. in a tilted bed to prevent miscarriage. She literally was in a bed tilted at 45 degree angle to keep her baby from falling out. Donna had a weak cervix from one birth and suffered two miscarriages. The baby arrived 6 weeks early at 4 lbs. but is doing well.

Donna said: "I'm thrilled to have Amelia. But there will always be a place in my heart for the babies I never knew."

Lawsuit claims newborn left without care as dr. decided he had no chance at life.....

Tennessean article reports that local dr. delivered a baby and failed to provide proper care for the baby determining without consultation that the baby boy had no chance at life. Although he eventually survived, the lawsuit states he has brain damage.

"According to the lawsuit filed Wednesday against Dr. John W. O’Donnell III in Robertson County Circuit Court, Marlin was born early June 13, 2009, with irregular gasping breaths and heart rate, and a nurse noted that he “made a small cry at delivery and had movement of arms and legs.”
“The baby was fighting for his life and Dr. O’Donnell decided on his own — without any consultation from anyone else — that the baby had no chance of living,” the lawsuit states.
Marlin was put in a plastic bin and left on a counter “until the family could decide what to do with the body,” but a nurse who passed the area noticed he was gasping for breath a few hours later, according to the lawsuit.
Marlin received resuscitation therapy and was transferred from NorthCrest Medical Center in Springfield to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, where he remained for three months receiving specialized care, according to the lawsuit."

While we are cautioned that this is an allegation at this point and there is no indication of an abortion attempt, it gave me a chilling reminder of the live birth abortions being done at Christ Hospital in IL that was exposed by nurse, Jill Stanek, and her battle against the then State Senator Barack Obama who defended the practice of leaving babies who survived abortions on shelves to die.

TN: Not one murder but two....pregnant woman murdered

While police continue searching for their killer, the recent murders of Brittany Caroline Eldridge and her unborn child could be the first cases prosecuted under Tennessee's recently expanded Unborn Victims of Violence Act. As passed in May, HB 498 / SB 633 establishes that unborn children at any age of gestational development may be legally considered victims of assault or homicide. Previous Tennessee statute only recognized unborn victims after the age of viability, generally considered to be 24-25 weeks.

Local newspaper accounts had reported that the Knox County District Attorney's office was "waiting on an autopsy to verify whether or not the infant was viable in order to ascertain if there would be one or two homicide prosecutions."

Tennessee's new law, however, is very plain and specifically states that when a defendant "commits a homicide or assault against a pregnant woman, the woman's fetus, regardless of viability, is also considered a victim of the offense."

Sponsored by Rep. Joshua Evans (R-Greenbrier) and Sen. Mae Beavers (R-Mt Juliet), the policy change was signed into law by Governor Haslam and took effect on July 1 as Public Chapter 408. As such, Tennessee joined 26 other states which define the killing of an unborn child at any stage of gestation as a form of homicide.

Studies conducted about violence against pregnant women including those conducted in Maryland, Illinois and New York found that homicide is the leading cause of death among pregnant women. The growing violence against pregnant women prompted Tennessee legislators to consider the legislation that would recognize the lives of unborn children assaulted or killed in the commission of a crime as well as that of the mother.

Timmerie’s Blog reports that the world’s largest distributor of poinsettias, Paul Ecke Ranch of San Diego, is a large supporter of Planned Parenthood. Timmerie suggests you check the tag to avoid indirectly supporting PP.
Wesley J. Smith decries a San Francisco Chronicle article which hypes hope in embryonic stem cell research despite evidence to the contrary, ignoring the success of adult stem cell research. Smith states the general public is generally uninformed on the issue, which does a disservice to suffering people and their families.

Secular Pro-Life has a guest post which points out some inconsistencies in pro-choice mantras. One abortion apologist mourned the fact that some women, due to natural disaster, might have missed their abortion appointments, claiming, “My heart breaks for any woman who… will now have to carry to term.”This doesn’t line up with the usual fearmongering about women resorting to “coat hanger” abortions if they can’t get them elsewhere.
Pro-Life Wisconsin reports on a committee hearing for the WI bill banning telemed abortions.
Suzy B reports that another pro-life state – this time, Texas – has been trampled by the Obama administration. In this case, the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services denied funds due to the state’s defunding of abortion providers.
ProLifeNZ describes the function of the perinatal hospice movement, stating that while abortion is touted as the best way to deal with a terminal prenatal diagnosis, “… there is no scientific evidence to support the presumption that terminating such a pregnancy is easier on the mother psychologically.”

ProWomanProLife is happy with a balanced National Post article about Canadian abortion protestor Linda Gibbons (pictured right), who has spent nearly 8 years in jail for violating bubble zone laws. The piece notes the tolerance of the Occupy Toronto protestors’ civil disobedience, contrasting this with the difference in treatment of pro-lifers.
Moral Outcry reflects on the national publicity generated by their story on the Komen Breast Cancer Awareness Bible, produced by B&H Publishing, which is now being removed from bookseller shelves:This press emergence has done many things. The first and most important thing is that it’s made this little-known fact of the Komen-Planned Parenthood ties a nationally known one. That’s huge because really there is no reason for Komen to give its money to abortion providers, no matter what it says the money is to be used for, when there are so many health clinics and other systems that could use that money and also provide mammograms without taking life in the next room.
Additionally, Komen continues to ignore the research that shows a link between abortion and increased breast cancer risk. So having this in the national news is a positive thing because it takes this out of the recesses of the back rooms and sets it on a national stage so everyone can examine it.
The Passionate Pro-Lifer is not impressed with Planned Parenthood’s newest outreach to our children: distributing sexual health advice via text message. PPL asks:A number of questions come to mind…. Will [they] know the age of the child that is seeking [their] sexual advice? [Are they] familiar with the physical, emotional and spiritual risks associated with sexual activity in young teens and even middle school children? Or will [they] be… abortion and sexual activity recruiter[s]?”

This story out of Australia tells of a 42 yr. old woman who dies from a late term abortion committed by Dr. Mark Shulberg in Victoria. This clinic has had egregious violations in the past.

It is the fourth investigation involving the clinic in six years.
Anaesthetist James Latham Peters allegedly infected more than 50 women with hepatitis C at the same clinic in 2008 and 2009.

The surgery's owner, Dr Mark Schulberg, was in 2009 found guilty of unprofessional conduct for failing to gain legal consent to perform a late-term abortion on an intellectually disabled woman.

And earlier this year it was revealed that a 40-year-old woman was left fighting for her life in the Box Hill Hospital after Dr Schulberg performed a late-term abortion surgery on her.

The Health Dept. said they will investigate again!!!! Dr. Schulberg is unavailable for comment since he is on holiday!!!

Abortioneers blog support Duggars "choice"

The Abortioneer's Blog sticks up for the Duggars stating that if we are pro choice, we have to respect their choice. Good for them. They also do not go off too much about the photos of the deceased daughter at the funeral....too much. They don't like them mind you, because they may make someone else feel shame over a miscarriage or abortion. Grieve over your miscarriage ....I get. Miscarriage and abortion are not the same thing. Abortion is intentional...miscarriage is not. The post is not mean spirited but there is a concern that the visual image of the daughter might trigger something......maybe that this is a baby...a real person...a human and that is damaging to the "abortion is no big deal" crowd.

I fear the a woman who is looking at her life and considering her choices is going to feel shamed into a choice she doesn’t want to make by these images. The photos are true. It is a human being, a boy or girl...if this causes someone considering abortion to make a different choice......that is good. The truth is always in good taste. Certainly you would not want the woman to make such an important and life altering decision based upon a lie

It is not tacky to have photos or videos of a baby lost to miscarriage.....just like it is not tacky to view the remains of a deceased loved one that is born. Those photos were of the foot and hand...how is this tacky??It was done with taste. If the Duggars wished for these to be private, shame on the person who released them.

One of the more popular posts on this blog is of a child that born in TN at 34 weeks gestation that lived just a short time. The funeral service was truly a celebration of life and beautiful. This picture is on their public Facebook page.

The percentage of male children born in Armenia has risen significantly due to an increase in female foeticide, the United Nations Population Fund said on Monday.
More than 7,000 Armenian women have had selective abortions over the past five years, according to a new study carried out by the UN Population Fund with the Armenian health ministry and the Institute of Perinatology.
The gender ratio of births is 110-120 boys to 100 girls, higher than the accepted norm of 102-106 boys to 100 girls, the study said.The trend could cause demographic problems for the small ex-Soviet state, UN Population Fund official Garik Hayrapetyan told a news conference in Yerevan.
“In ten to 20 years, we will face a deficit of women — that means, of potential mothers,” Hayrapetyan said.
Selective abortion is a problem in countries like China and India.
But it has also reached “worrying proportions” in Caucasus states Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia, the Council of Europe’s Parliamentary Assembly said in a resolution on gender selection in October.
The resolution said that pressure on women to have selective abortions should be seen as “a form of psychological violence”.

Abortion industry filled with workers with secrets

The Abortion industry is confused and/or schizophrenic .....on the one hand, they want to be proud of their abortions or at the very least de stigmatize it by calling it normal. On the other hand those who "labor" in the field are secretive and do so anonymously. Why would they do that? I suspect regardless of their brashness they are filled with shame and brokenness.

"When I worked at an abortion clinic I remember the days when we had down time and would open up to each other about our lives. We talked about things that probably don't get brought up in most work places. We shared stories of intimate partner violence, birth control failures, family stressors, masturbation techniques, drug use, and even our own abortions. There was an implicit understanding that we could trust each other and respect each other's experiences. I loved it, and I doubt I'll ever find at a job again."

They ask...

"What about as social workers or other direct service providers?"

I have worked as a social worker. Most people are proud of their work either paid or volunteer. They take their children to work, talk about it at home. How sad to be a part of an industry that is filled with shame and regret. From those who have found the courage to come out of the industry, they acknowledge this shame. I pray for those who feel trapped in this industry. I pray for them to have the courage and support to walk away from the culture of death.

Live Action describes a supposedly humorous web phenomenon which shares people’s “Texts from Last Night.” Casual sex, drunkenness, and abortion are all common topics of the site – a sad revelation on college/youth culture.

Abstinence Clearinghouse links to an article on the need for continued parental vigilance regarding sex education programs in school. They share a quote from a mother’s conversation with her child’s teacher in the 90′s, demonstrating how radical and inappropriate teaching has been going on for years:When I asked her about modesty, she told me that is something she tries to get the kids over as quick as possible.
My daughter brought home the curriculum from the class and I was appalled. There were several pages of vocabulary they would have to know, including every perversion I had ever heard of and some that I never heard of.
The definition they had for virgin was someone who had never had the opportunity to have sex. The list included polygamy but not monogamy. It even said that sometimes it is beneficial for a marriage if there is an affair.

Politically correct and confused??

MSM tells story of baby born by C section at 24 weeks gestation weighing just 9.5 ounces and fitting into the palm of the doctor's hand. Cared for in the ICU she is expected to go home on New Year's Eve.

Sweet little heartwarming story, but I note that in writing this the baby is fetus in the womb and baby outside the womb. So it it the location that determines the word used. Of course we know that fetus is Latin for young one or offspring. But for those who support abortion, words matter. If you call the fetus a baby it makes it harder to justify killing a baby. Saying terminating a pregnancy or fetus...it makes you feel better. Or does it? Words matter in the battle for hearts and minds.

I once called a reporter and asked about this and they said the paper had a style book that had pc language they were to use.

University of PA NextGenJournal article takes exception to the HHS Secretary's decision to block OTC sales of the Morning After Pill or Plan B to minors under 17. Some ofthe amazing points of view decry that the govt. does not trust young girls!!

Down on the Pharm blogger Karen Brauer posts a comment about trust and faith that clarifies the matter for NextGen author....

"Should we not be protecting our children from those who think it's OK for 11 year olds to have sex, and buy a drug entity which is 60 percent effective per use, which is associated with virilization of female fetuses, increased susceptibility to STDs, and osteoporosis, and is not studied in the pre-teen population?

The FDA has "proven" nothing about the safety and efficacy of levonorgestrel 1.5mg in pre-teens (or any other population). This is not the function of the FDA. It has ALSO largely abandoned the practice of analyzing evidence to establish sufficient safety and efficacy of medical entities for the market. The FDA is not succeeding at too much these days, except paper consumption.
In medical research, we accumulate evidence, but we do not provide proof. One should never trust the grandiose medical claims in which the word "proven" or "proof" is used.

We should also not be placing faith in the FDA, which has mishandled the HUGE shortages of medically vital drugs and chemotherapeutic agents. Lives have been lost and countless more are at risk because the drug supplies have become so unpredictable that rational adaptations and substitutions cannot be made in a timely manner. Our government has been exacerbating this problem while it diddles with the desires of people who want sexual access to the pediatric population."

Statement on 'Here's Hope Cancer Awareness Bible'

We made a mistake.
As part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, B&H Publishing Group released to several mass market retailers a Cancer Awareness Bible as a way to place God's Word into the hands of those suffering through breast cancer. As part of the project, B&H agreed to donate $1 from the sale of each Bible to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation for breast health education, screening and treatment programs.
As this project has developed, we realized it was a mistake.
When our leadership discovered the overwhelming concern that some of Komen's affiliates were giving funds to Planned Parenthood, we began the arduous process of withdrawing this Bible from the market. Though we have assurances that Komen's funds are used only for breast cancer screening and awareness, it is not in keeping with LifeWay's core values to have even an indirect relationship with Planned Parenthood.
B&H's mission to advance the gospel through distribution of God's Word is unchanged, so we will continue to seek innovative ways that are in keeping with LifeWay's core values.
