Inconceivable: Sean and Carolyn Savage... medical mix up implants wrong embryo ...we value life too much to consider abortion

I just saw Carolyn and Sean Savage interviewed on an AM talk show and also viewed their story on another magazine show. Most of you have read of the amazing story of how two couples went to the same fertility clinic and through human error, Carolyn Savage  was implanted with the embryo of another couple. She was told first and of course she could have chosen abortion.  It was not their baby and she had medical issues that made her pregnancy high risk.  She said they never for a minute considered abortion. "We value life too much and this was an opportunity to walk our talk." Challenges are a part of life" and that this brought  them closer as a couple.Yes, they had to have perseverance and courage especially as Carolyn experienced medical issues during the pregnancy and was assigned to bed rest. But they knew the baby boy would have the opportunity for life.

As I watched  the story unfold, I wondered why she would go to a fertility clinic and go through this when they had three other children, two boys and a girl. I never fully got my question answered except their desire for a 4th child. What happened to Carolyn and Sean embryos in the fertility clinic?? Because of Carolyn's medical issues, after delivering the wrongly implanted child via Cesarean section, she was advised by the doctors that she could not carry another pregnancy.  They found a surrogate to attempt to carry for her but sadly the first implantation resulted in a miscarriage and the second attempt failed.

I admired Carolyn and Sean as I watched the story and thought how hard it must have been  to carry for nine months knowing another couple would parent this child and then I  thought of the women and sometimes men who make that selfless decision when they choose adoption. They could have taken the quick and easy way out but they too chose life. If you know a birth parent, thank them today for the gift of life. They too are heroes.
