Pro Life thoughts in a pro choice world through the eyes of a convert.
I took early retirement after working in the social work and Human Resources fields but remain active by being involved in pro life education, lobbying and speaking .
Well I read Inconceivable and found it fascinating but to be honest it kind of swayed me away from IVF although I was skeptical to begin with. I can better understand the Catholic Church's admonishment from entering into it due to the unintended consequences of what starts out as a couple just wanting children. I am glad everyone is alright and the babies are here and I wish blessings on all involved.
Cross posted at Carolyn and Sean Savage's blog announcing the arrival of the twins.
They’re here!!
It is with overwhelming joy and tremendous gratitude that we announce the arrival of our two gorgeous girls.
Reagan Linda (6 lbs, 12 oz) and Isabella Jennifer, 6 lbs. 15 ozs, and were born on Thursday, August 11 at 5:31 pm and 5:35 pm. You can view photos and a special video here.
Our little miracles are beautiful and healthy, and we are eternally grateful to our partner Jennifer for her sacrifice and her gift to us. Jennifer, you carefully tended to them and safely shepherded them into this world. We don’t know how many thank you’s will ever be enough.
We thank God for these two blessings. Our appreciation extends around the world to family and friends and supporters like you who have sent in your prayers and warm wishes. You lifted us in our darkest hour and gave us courage and strength to never quit our dreams to grow our family.
It has been an inconceivable journey…and it continues. We hope that you’ll
continue to share it with us.
Inconceivable parents are conceiving again....twins this time through a surrogate, the same one that tried for them before.
If successful this will be their 4th and 5th child. I bought the book and read it and have read many posts on the concept of IVF and the Catholic Church's viewpoint on it. The couple in the book are Catholic and I must admit to mixed emotions on this. I admire them for carrying the mistaken implantation to term and not fighting for custody but wonder but there are so many unintended consequences to IVF that I am wondering if this technology is a blessing. In the book, they had used all the embryos left to try with the surrogate and failed with each one. It was over. They had three children....obviously they went back into IVF again. Now are they going to again give every embryo a chance for life. They did not address that but I would hope they would hold true to that. Those frozen embryos are life...
I just saw Carolyn and Sean Savage interviewed on an AM talk show and also viewed their story on another magazine show. Most of you have read of the amazing story of how two couples went to the same fertility clinic and through human error, Carolyn Savage was implanted with the embryo of another couple. She was told first and of course she could have chosen abortion. It was not their baby and she had medical issues that made her pregnancy high risk. She said they never for a minute considered abortion. "We value life too much and this was an opportunity to walk our talk." Challenges are a part of life" and that this brought them closer as a couple.Yes, they had to have perseverance and courage especially as Carolyn experienced medical issues during the pregnancy and was assigned to bed rest. But they knew the baby boy would have the opportunity for life.
As I watched the story unfold, I wondered why she would go to a fertility clinic and go through this when they had three other children, two boys and a girl. I never fully got my question answered except their desire for a 4th child. What happened to Carolyn and Sean embryos in the fertility clinic?? Because of Carolyn's medical issues, after delivering the wrongly implanted child via Cesarean section, she was advised by the doctors that she could not carry another pregnancy. They found a surrogate to attempt to carry for her but sadly the first implantation resulted in a miscarriage and the second attempt failed.
I admired Carolyn and Sean as I watched the story and thought how hard it must have been to carry for nine months knowing another couple would parent this child and then I thought of the women and sometimes men who make that selfless decision when they choose adoption. They could have taken the quick and easy way out but they too chose life.If you know a birth parent, thank them today for the gift of life. They too are heroes.
