TN: traffic stop brings to light Muslim / state burial laws for miscarried 15 wk old baby …confuses police/community

There was a strange story in the Nashville news yesterday regarding a routine traffic stop made by a police officer for a license tag violation. The car was driven by two Muslim men with Saudi driver's licenses. They advised they were transporting a deceased child in their trunk for proper Muslim burial. The officer asked to see the body, but the men said that it would against their faith to disrupt the body. Confused, the officer made the decision to let them go on. He then reported it to his chief who  thought that he should have insisted on seeing the body.  The chief put out an alert for the car and it was carried on all the news channels.

The police chief decided to further investigate and contact nearby mosques.. There was a mosque south of Nashville that had a member whose wife had miscarried a baby  at 15 weeks gestation in Bowling Green KY. With proper documentation from the KY coroner, he was transporting  the remains for proper burial at their mosque cemetery.   The men tried to explain that to the officer but there was a problem communicating due to the language barrier. So the news outlets  ran an update on the story. What is interesting is the verbiage used to describe the remains of the baby miscarried at 15 weeks gestation. One reporter  commented that there  typically is not a birth or death certificate issued for a miscarriage, nor is there a burial of the remains.

Years ago I was part of a pro life demonstration at a nearby college. Two Muslim women came up and  talked to me. They discussed how their faith was firmly against abortion and it was strictly prohibited. When they walked away one of the leaders of the demonstration made the comment that the Muslims will soon outnumber us because they are strictly pro life and we permit abortion. Interesting point. I also have been in Muslim countries and know their faith demands burial of the remains within 24 hours of the death. Obviously the Muslims considered a miscarriage at 15 weeks gestation a person that deserves proper burial and not medical waste. Think about it.

As the news outlets updated the story, only  one changed the wording to fetus. The rest continued to say baby, child or son. Another interesting point. Maybe we can learn something from them.

Media ignores Nashville flood - why?

Nice write up from Mommy Life.com

I am so proud of TN....we are picking ourselves up and getting back on our feet with little to no help from Washington....we are not called the Volunteer state for nothing. We are helping one another. No one is demanding that they receive this or that or blaming anyone for what happened. And yes we are being ignored by the media and the powers that be.

nashville_0504.jpgIf I lived in Tennessee I'd be feeling pretty abandoned by my country be now. To think of all the clamor the followed Katrina, the Bush-bashing and howling of victims. How dignified the people of Tennessee seem, how heartless our Glorious Leader who has not even mentioned the 500 year flood that is turning out to be one of the most expensive natural disasters in our history.
The Big 0 hasn't even mentioned it. I guess there's no political advantage to be had. But I've been to Nashville. There are black people there too.
Meanwhile, the media are grinding out story after story trying desperately to humanize our latest terrorist. Something tells me they wouldn't be doing this for the middle-aged white man they - the media - first decided was the culprit, suggesting he was probably a Tea Party member angry about the passage of health care.
Yeah, because that would be so like the Tea Party, wouldn't it? Not like the cavalcade of car bombs now commonplace in the Mideast.
Anyway, here is a surprising perspective from Newsweek - Why the Media Ignored the Nashville Flood:
As you may have heard, torrential downpours in the southeast flooded the Tennessee capital of Nashville over the weekend, lifting the Cumberland River 13 feet above flood stage, causing an estimated $1 billion in damage, and killing more than 30 people. It could wind up being one of the most expensive natural disasters in U.S. history. Or, on second thought, maybe you didn't hear. . .
Andrew Roman has some interesting analysis and you can read the entire article at Newsweek, or cut to the chase for his conclusion:
If I sound like I'm condoning the media's inattention here, I'm not. My explanation is meant as a criticism. Given audience demands--especially at a time when traditional media companies aren't doing so well--it's impossible to avoid the stories with the most buzz and the strongest narratives. Nor should we. But urgency should be at least as important. In this case, the most urgent aspects of the oil spill and the Times Square attack had already been covered to death; the culprit was already caught, the containment was already underway. And yet we still kept rehashing each of those stories--and fighting about politics--while thousands of homes and business were destroyed and dozens of people died. That matters. Media silence means public ignorance, and public ignorance means fewer charitable donations, slower aid, and less political pressure. If that's not reason enough to cover the flood--to do our jobs--I don't know what is.

Did this event really happen?? Dinosaur media hints that it did!

The liberal Tennessean printed a picture of the Pro Life Women's Day on the Hill ,not to cover the event mind you ......but mentioned it in a lengthy article about Ron Ramsey running for governor. They mentioned he was at Pro Life Women's Day on the Hill because..... per the article his attraction is on social issues.....kind of a left handed compliment on their slant of his candidacy.....
as the only social issues they deem worthy are the far left issues like abortion on demand.

How I long for the days when newspapers were worth the cheap paper they were printed on. We only get the weekend edition because my husband likes the Sudoku puzzles.  I can look over the whole paper before my first cup of coffee is finished. There is nothing in there I already did not know....I complain. Maybe Ms. Cheap is worth reading and you enjoy the puzzles  but with the garbage disposal taking over the need to wrap up coffee grounds and no pets to do their business on why do we even bother with this I ask? I guess to see events like Pro Life Women's Day on the Hill getting a slight mention in an article about a candidate for governor. They call it the Dinosaur media.  I'll say.

Bogus Lie to Media and they bought it– Claims Prayer Service With Coffin Was a Violent Threat

Politico and other news outlets picked this up and tried to show that the presence of the coffin was a threat...I am sure they have never participated in peaceful prayer vigils but the coffin is symbolic of the  death of pre born babies.

First Things
Remember as you read this: There is nothing the democratic-media complex will not do to lie about the tea party patriots or to prop up these horrid leftists who are transforming our country into some kind of quasi-socialist state.
On Sunday night several members of the St. Louis Tea Party Coalition held a prayer vigil at Russ Carnahan’s office for the millions of babies that will be slaughtered under the democrat’s pro-abortion health care bill. We also prayed for the handicapped and the elderly who will be turned away as they face the death panels created by this bill. And, as we stood outside his office in the rain, we prayed for our country and for the democrats in Washington DC who were stealing away our freedom at that very moment.
We brought a coffin with us to represent the millions of Americans who will suffer from inadequate treatment and perish under Obamacare.
