Excutive Order is called symbolic by Planned Parenthood: Stupak wanted cover

 This pretty much tells it all. When Jill Stanek ends with Thanks Bart Stupak, you foolish man she sums up my sentiments. I wanted to believe he was a man of principle. As it turns out he was a politician. He surely knew that his executive order was not binding and that any challenge by PP would send it toppling....BHO is clever and knew just how to word it with a wink and a nod to PP who with their friends at ACLU would challenge it and  throw it out. Then BHO and Stupak could say oh well we tried.

The end result.....our tax money for abortions. I wonder where the Manhattan Declaration will come in here. Hard to see anything good coming out of today. Stupak even said that they did not need his vote to pass but he gave it to them anyway.

Planned Parenthood: Healthcare passage will "significantly increase access to reproductive health care"; exec order "a symbolic gesture"

Now it all comes out. It didn't take long for Planned Parenthood CEO Cecile Richards to revel in PP's financial gain from passage of healthcare in a Planned Parenthood statement just released. Note also Richards' dismissal of Obama's executive order....

For more than a year, PP has worked tirelessly for a health care reform bill that would fix our broken health care system, strengthen women's health, and achieve quality, affordable health care for all Americans.

Today, monumental progress was made toward achieving these goals with the passage of historic health care reform legislation by the U.S. House of Representatives, despite a symbolic gesture, in the form of an Executive Order, to anti-choice Congressman Bart Stupak (D-MI), which has diverted attention from the central goal of health care reform - controlling costs and extending coverage.
As a trusted health care provider to millions of women and families across the country, Planned Parenthood applauds the fact that this legislation would extend health care coverage, including family planning, to tens of millions of women and families, guarantee access to affordable life-saving screenings for cervical and breast cancer and other serious health problems, protect women against gender discrimination by private insurers, end the practice of dropping coverage because of pre-existing conditions, and significantly increase access to reproductive health care.
The proposal also includes a commonsense provision to expand family planning under Medicaid, which would significantly increase access to essential preventive health care for millions of women....
Nonetheless, we regret that a pro-choice president of a pro-choice nation was forced to sign an Executive Order that further codifies the proposed anti-choice language in the health care reform bill, originally proposed by Senator Ben Nelson of Nebraska.
What the president's executive order did not do is include the complete and total ban on private health insurance coverage for abortion that Congressman Bart Stupak (D-MI) had insisted upon. So while we regret that this proposed Executive Order has given the imprimatur of the president to Senator Nelson's language, it is critically important to note that it does not include the Stupak abortion ban.

Thanks, Bart Stupak, you foolish man.

WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Congressman Bart Stupak (D-Menominee) announced three airports in northern Michigan have received grants totaling $726,409 for airport maintenance and improvements. The funding was provided by the U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Aviation Administration.
“This federal funding will help these airports better provide critical services to communities in northern Michigan,” Stupak said. “I am pleased the FAA has made this investment in our local airports and the individuals and businesses they serve.”
Alpena County Regional Airport received a grant of $85,500 to acquire friction measuring equipment, specifically a decelermeter and tow vehicle, to replace equipment that has worn out.
Delta County Airport in Escanaba received a grant of $179,209 to install a 10 foot perimeter fence to enhance security and prevent wildlife from entering the airport.
The Chippewa County International Airport near Sault Ste. Marie received a grant of $461,700 to install lighted signs on Runway 16/34 and make repairs to the pavement to meet marking requirements and maintain structural integrity.
This funding is provided to the FAA through the regular federal appropriations process and is awarded through competitive grants.

First fallout: Pro-life group strips Stupak of "Defender of Life" award

 this is very sad....was Stupak naive or did he just cave and need cover? Krauthammer says it is a total cave...they had the votes without Stupak bloc but this gave him and the White House the semblence of cover....the clue to me is the lack of outrage from the pro aborts....they know that they can challenge this in the courts and get it thrown out and get what they want when Obama and Stupak say well....I did the best I could. Actually now he has lost the support of the pro life people and  the Dems.

Bart Stupak's announcement that he and other self-labeled "pro-life" Democrats will vote in favor of Healthcare reform legislation with the addition of an Executive Order from the White House to address concerns about abortion funding, Susan B. "This Wednesday night is our 3rd annual Campaign for Life Gala, where we were planning to honor Congressman Stupak for his efforts to keep abortion-funding out of health care reform. Most importantly, pro-abortion Representatives have admitted the executive order is meaningless."
Last night, Rep. DeGette told The Huffington Post, "If there was an executive order saying they weren't going to use federal funds in the bill to pay for abortions that would be fine with me."
Today, Rep. Wasserman Schultz admitted to Fox News' Megyn Kelly that "an executive order cannot change the law."
The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops pointed out today that "only a change in the law enacted by Congress, not an executive order, can begin to address this very serious problem in the legislation."

Tanner and Davis to vote NO on Healthcare....

 Lincoln Davis is a true pro life Dem. however, Tanner is reported to vote no to give cover to Herron who is running as a Dem. for his seat as Tanner is retiring. Herron will try to run as a pro life Dem. which he most certainly is NOT. This must mean that they don't need Tanner who would have given in if need be. This is a sad day for our country and our state.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Tennessee Democratic Rep. John Tanner says he decided against supporting President Barack Obama's health care overhaul bill over the expected cost.

Tanner said in a statement Sunday that he doesn't think the bill adequately addresses the "long-term trend of rising health care costs."

The measure seeks to extend coverage to 32 million uninsured people and the Congressional Budget Office estimates the proposal would cost $940 billion over 10 years.

Fellow Democratic Rep. Lincoln Davis has not said how he will vote on the latest version of the bill after voting against the previous measure.

Last week, fellow Democratic Rep. Bart Gordon said he had changed his mind would support the bill.

It's our vote.....you still work for us! NYT reports rumors of jobs for votes

Representative Jason Chaffetz, a freshman Republican from Utah, raised the possibility that some lawmakers were “trading votes for jobs.” He cited a report that Representative Bart Gordon, Democrat of Tennessee, had been promised a job as NASA administrator and that another Tennessee Democrat, Representative John Tanner, wanted an appointment as ambassador to NATO in exchange for his vote.
The two men said the assertions were false. “That offer was never made, and I would not accept it,” said Mr. Gordon, the chairman of the House Science and Technology Committee, who announced Thursday that he would support the bill. Mr. Tanner, who has not announced his position on the bill, said it was a sad day when such charges were repeated in the House chamber. “To take an unsubstantiated, untrue total fabrication and to repeat it on this floor is, in my judgment, an affront to this institution,” he said.

It is not too late for both men to represent their constituents and vote against this bill.

Had I not been watching the CBC today, I would not have learned that abortion saves the lives of babies in the third world (thank you Rosemary Barton and Carole McNeil). I am pro choice, and I think that statement is ridiculous. Why is the opposition bringing this up on an almost daily basis? Other than their motive of reducing the world's population of poor people (neo lib social engineering), they are relentlessly trying to ignite a divisive debate in Canada because they believe that they can emerge victorious from this scorched earth strategy.

Where this strategy is failing is that they are trying to ignite a debate on abortions in Canada by demanding the tax payer funding of abortions outside Canada. You don't have to be pro life to disagree with funding foreign abortions, and I have yet to meet a Canadian who wanted their tax dollars spent for that purpose. And yet every day it seems that I turn on my television, some CBC journalist or opposition politician is demanding that the Canadian tax payer fund foreign abortions. Then the pundits on that side of the aisle use the fact that the opposition chose to introduce this debate as evidence that Canadian people are actually talking about this!

When these insane demands were first made by Ignatieff a month ago, I ran a poll on this issue.

But at least one pro-choice liberal hasn't completely let go of Sanger's ideas.


In a 2009 interview with the New York Times, Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg was asked about the court decision that led to the Hyde Amendment, which bans the use of taxpayer funds for abortion. Ginsburg said, "Frankly I had thought that at the time Roe (v. Wade) was decided, there was concern about population growth and particularly growth in populations that we don't want to have too many of."

The message of the advertisement was ominous, one that should send shivers down the spine of a civilized nation. "More than 2,000,000 babies will be born in America this year," the ad read. "Within 15 years, 738,386 will be dead, crippled, tubercular, mentally deficient, delinquent, maladjusted 'problem children'… The First Key to Strong National Health [is] BIRTH CONTROL."

This call to pre-emptively rid America of the diseased and maladjusted, according to the March 31, 1941, issue of Time magazine, was sponsored by the National Committee of Planned Parenthood on behalf of Margaret Sanger's Birth Control Federation of America. Sanger, who founded Planned Parenthood in 1916, was a proponent of eugenics, the belief that humankind would benefit if the "unfit" didn't reproduce while the "fit" procreated profusely.

Sanger's philosophy and the foundations of Planned Parenthood matter now that the pro-abortion organization has located a clinic in East Knoxville, an area with a heavy concentration of African-Americans. Pastor Cecil Clark of True Vine Baptist Church, a black congregation, summed up the suspicions of many: "I think (Planned Parenthood) target(s) black neighborhoods and black women, Hispanics and poor people."

Statistics from the Tennessee Department of Health support Clark's concerns. In 2008, nonwhite babies were aborted nearly four times more often than white children in Tennessee. In fact, more abortions were performed on nonwhites than whites - 6,986 vs. 6,876 - even though white females between the ages of 10 and 44 outnumbered nonwhites by more than 830,000. In Knox County, nonwhites suffered abortion at twice the rate of whites.

With signs cropping up that call black children an "endangered species" and Web sites decrying a "black genocide," Planned Parenthood continues Sanger's practice of locating clinics in nonwhite neighborhoods. As Pastor Johnny Watson of Bethel AME Church said, "Seventy percent of their clinics are in minority neighborhoods, and that alone should tell you something."

Girl Scouts Ties with Planned Parenthood Extensive and Long-Standing

     (NEW YORK – C-FAM)  The scandal surrounding the Girl Scout’s distribution of an International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) sex guide at the UN Beijing +15 Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) continues to grow. Some Scout mothers in St. Louis intend to ask the St. Louis Girl Scouts to pull out of the national organization.

     The Girl Scouts continue to deny they had any involvement in the distribution of the brochure and have offered various responses at different times. They claim they did not “hand out” the brochure, though they were never charged with handing it out. They claim they did not look in the trash or otherwise “sanitize the room” before they used it and say another group could have left it. And they have said the brochure was simply not in the room.

     As to their claim that the brochure might have been left in the room by a previous organizational user, the Friday Fax looked into the question of who used the room prior to the Girl Scouts at 4:00 pm on March 1. The National Association of Colored People (NAACP) used the room at 10 am for a meeting on climate change. The UN used the room at noon for an orientation meeting on the Commission on the Status of Women, which was starting that day. At 2:00 pm a European poverty group held a panel on counterterrorism.

     One of the consistent responses from Girl Scout leaders is that the Girl Scouts have no connection to Planned Parenthood. This, however, was not the first time the Girl Scouts have teamed up with Planned Parenthood to hand out sex guides. For 14 years, the Girl Scouts co-sponsored a conference in Waco, Texas with Planned Parenthood on sex education. At the 2004 Waco conference, a sex book titled “It’s Perfectly Normal” was handed out to 700 grade-school girls. That guide celebrates masturbation and explicit drawings of couples having sex and a boy putting on a condom, as well as listing the top nine reasons to have an abortion. The subsequent brouhaha started a cookie boycott and was covered by the national media.

     Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA) CEO Kathy Cloninger admitted subsequently on NBC’s Today Show that, “… we partner with many organizations.  We have relationships with our church communities, with YWCAs, and with Planned Parenthood organizations across the country, to bring information-based sex education programs to girls.”

ACLU: Not so silent partner to abortion industry

What a shock....the ACLU is opposing advising women of what the current law says about their rights. We certainly don't want to put any stigma on abortion even if it means advising women of their right to say no to abortion.  Since it already the law why would ACLU be opposed to posting what their rights are under the law. I thought they were all about rights....of yes, this is the proud organization that sued our state to take away informed consent and waiting periods following informed consent. The abortion industry's best friend....ACLU. Follow the money....and watch for their friends in the legislature to have their talking points ready.
