A Democratic House candidate from Tennessee is suggesting that the national party pulled funds from his race because he said he wouldn't vote for Nancy Pelosi as speaker of the House.
Roy Herron, who’s running to replace the retiring Rep. John Tanner (D), said Monday that he wouldn’t vote for the Pelosi or House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) for speaker. The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee later in the day said they would stop funneling money into the race.

Herron is one of several Democrats who have said they wouldn't back Pelosi. Rep. Bobby Bright (Ala.) has campaigned on the idea that he would not vote for Pelosi for speaker again, and Peter DeFazio (Ore.) suggested there may be a Democratic leadership shakeup if there's an electoral wipeout.
Herron may not even get a chance to vote against Pelosi for speaker, as he is facing an uphill battle against Stephen Fincher for the northwest Tennessee seat. On Tuesday, Herron said Fincher would be a “rubber stamp for his Washington bosses” and would eschew bipartisanship. The Democrat said “we need new leadership in Washington – not Nancy Pelosi or the Republican Leader John Boehner of Ohio either.”
“Because both have let these deficits soar and have let our people down,” he said.

"This morning, The Jackson Sun [a local paper] reported for the first
time what I’ve repeatedly told citizens: I will not vote for Nancy
Pelosi for House speaker," Herron said in a statement Tuesday. "If the
DCCC pulling ads is the price of independence and following my
conscience, so be it. That’s the kind of congressman I’ll be.”
The DCCC did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Herron is one of several Democrats who have said they wouldn't back Pelosi. Rep.
