Phoenix Catholic Hospital inches closer to deadline to obey Bishop or drop their Catholic certification

Catholic Vote  updates us as Catholic Healthcare West  engages in Twitter/Facebook wars  with tweets and wall posts, a new way to communicate in this sound bite era....CHW is standing by their decision to perform an abortion and Bishop Olmstead has set a deadline (Dec. 17th)for ...
"CHW acknowledge that it falsely interpreted the Church’s ethical and religious directives, submit itself to review and certification that the hospital is in fact following those directives and agree to train its staff so they understand these directives."

The National Catholic Register has a more lengthy post that goes into more detail about this medically complicated case
"This is a very interesting case, canonically ... but for the moment let me just say how good it is to see a bishop being so diligent and forthright regarding this case."
While this ongoing battle was brewing, I read the great posts from Coming Home   as Dr. Nadal discusses this issue with a pediatric  cardiologist who disputes the Catholic position. These posts do not lend themselves to  twitter sound bites  but are well worth the read as the medical and faith based issues are dissected.
