Fletcher Armstrong: Saying PP is the one to talk to our kids about sex is like saying that Phillip Morris should be talking to them about smoking...

Fletcher Armstrong's blog  is following the parent's uprising against PP in Knox County, TN. ...good for them. Because of parent's objections to their sex ed presentation to high school students especially referring them to websites such as the one shown here, they were removed from presentations. Unfortunately because of the smut peddled by PP all outside presenters were banned including the excellent abstinence educators.  Bad move, school board. Also, they decided that the teachers and Health Dept. staffers would be the only ones educating the youth on this subject. Here are legitimate concerns. The Health Dept. and teachers often get their education and talking points straight from PP. Most are PP lite. There may be some responsible and good ones but the ones I have observed are indeed PP lite. One in my home county that was doing an excellent job was reprimanded for not doing the PP style of sex ed. and got frustrated and resigned.
Now back to the subject of appropriate education of high school students. Case in point, Fletcher points out the  website takecaredownthere.org. Now I did sex abuse investigations for several years and am not easily shocked but this was beyond the pale. If you can stand it watch the video on there entitled " I didn't even spew" and ask yourself if this is appropriate sex ed. After I watched it I said where is Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton on this......black dude on his knees servicing the white dude!!

Fletcher gets a good point in with his comment...."Pam Strickland wrote a column in the News Sentinel entitled “Somebody needs to talk to kids about sex.” Maybe she’s right about that. Somebody should talk to them about smoking, too, but it shouldn’t be Philip Morris."
