Catholics blogs push for hierarchies to remain true to church doctrine

These two Catholic blogs show the extent of the pressure within the Church over the life issue. Good for these people holding the line and keeping their theological feet to the fire. As for Sister Keehan and CHA they probably are just getting the message that they were used but still are not ready to accept it. Sister Keehan shown in pix received one of Obama's pens upon the passage of Obamacare. She may be wondering if the pen was worth it.

Catholic Vote notes that Catholic Healthcare Association and notably Sr. Carol Keehan, who publicly supported Obamacare's passage is expressing "concern over the narrow scope of the conscience exception in the mandate." She is still denying that abortifacients are covered. CV points out her flawed thinking is at odds  with Church doctrine.

Lisa Graas writes an open letter to the Archbishop Joseph Kurtz of the Archdiocese of Louisville opposing the proposed merger of Catholic, Jewish and University hospital systems in Louisville and other Kentucky cities pointing out that he dean the faculty of U of L states that they "will continue to perform abortions while also having privileges at the hospital."

Sr Keehan and CHA now endorse protective legislation they insisted was not necessary

Amazing example of hypocrisy....no saying I was wrong or mislead or any such excuse now the infamous Sister Keehan and CHA endorse a piece of legislation banning abortion funding from Obamacare even though they supported the original legislation that they insisted already prevented it. Watch out sister Obama may ask for his pen back....
"The Catholic Health Association has endorsed legislation to restrict federal funding of abortion in the health care law passed last year despite its belief that the legislation already prevents it.
In a Jan. 24 letter to Rep. Joseph R. Pitts (R-Penn.), Catholic Health Association president and CEO Sr. Carol Keehan offered support for the Protect Life Act, H.R. 358. She praised the congressman’s efforts to “ensure the protection of the unborn and of providers’ conscience rights.”
President Obama gave Sr. Keehan a presidential pen he used to sign the final legislation.

She abandoned the sanctity of human life for a souvenir pen .... why is she not excommunicated?

Writing in the Huffington Post, the President of Planned Parenthood lauds the Sr.Keenan, who in a critical time of the debate threw her  support to the Health care bill. She and a few others broke with with the Bishops and contacted members of congress , claiming to represent thousands of sisters and helped  to assuage the consciences of the representatives in order to win their vote. So now abortion is acceptable to the sisters! What a sad day for the Church and I hope you remember this face the next time you get a letter asking for donations for this organization. If they will sell out pre born babies for a pen and a "shout out" from the president of the nation's largest provider of abortions, they do not need our support. Please explain why she is not excommunicated!

From Catholic Vote Action.org

The last pen he used, reports Daniel Foster, will be given to Sister Carol Keehan, president and CEO of the Catholic Health Association.
Sr. Keehan, as most of you know, was a staunch ally of the Democrat efforts to push through their health care reform. She issued press releases on behalf of her organization asking representatives in Congress to pass the legislation, even without including abortion funding fixes (which they did). She met with Obama personally several days before the final vote in Congress, she contacted individual congressmen and assuaged their conscience that they could vote for the bill as-is, etc.
