Former exec of Komen calls PP a bully who broke and agreement....

 Karen Handel the executive who resigned and then refused a severance package with a silence clause tells us that PP broke an agreement with Komen. Surprised...of course not. PP plays hardball and knows no shame....

"This past December, the president of Komen, Liz Thompson, met with the president of Planned Parenthood, Cecile Richards, to discuss the decision, according to Handel. “There was an open and candid conversation about the controversy and the effect on Komen. There was a gentle ladies’ agreement, if you will, that no one was going to go to the press about this,” Handel said. In the agreement, she said, Komen offered to continue funding current grants, but not future ones.

“We wanted a smooth transition,” she continued. “What happened is nothing short of a disgrace. Cecile Richards put this issue in the press. There was a coordinated effort to get sites like moveon.org and change.org involved. There was an orchestrated, premeditated attempt to put this issue in the press. Talk about betrayal by Planned Parenthood—against an organization that took up for it for years.”

Handel calls PP a bully....so Komen now has returned to the abusive partner.

Karen Handel VP of Komen resigns over Komen's   walk back  and the real news is that she is refusing a severance package that would contain a silence clause. So we can expect some more news on Komen's retreat back into the arms of the PP mafia.

Komen fox trot brings full awareness of the partnership with abortion industry...bullied back into submission??

The Komen decision and retreat or not a retreat was the news on the blogosphere all yesterday. The MSM pretty much decided it was a full fledged retreat bowing under the intense bullying of the abortion industry and friends.  Jill Stanek had some inside baseball until her source dried up. Whether it was a retreat or a nuanced way to get the bullies off their back remains to be seen. 

I would say they have now made both sides angry. The abortion industry is happy because they have shown that they play hardball which is no surprise.  They want to scare off anyone who might be thinking of jumping off their abortion ship. We either sue you into the ground  or beat you to a pulp. Kind of like the abusive husband that forces you to stay with him out of fear of being beaten or killed.


But I agree that one thing has been accomplished. If there was anyone out there who was pro life and did not know of the unholy alliance between Susan G. Komen and Planned Parenthood they sure do now. And it also brought out that Planned Parenthood does not do mammograms but for all that $$ hands out brochures about breast self exams and does a topical exam. They refer you to health depts etc.  for further service is there is an issue detected. As I had said before this is something I learned at a women's luncheon years ago. This is worth giving 680,000/yr??? That's a lot of brochures.  Better to give the money to free mammography  mobiles across the country. This heightened publicity also brought new attention to the link between cancer and abortion something the industry that profits from abortion would not like you to know.


So Komen may have danced out of the way of the bully for now and it remains to be seen if this is a word game only and no new grants will be given to the abortion bully but the Komen branding has taken a hit and trust may have been lost of both sides of this argument. 

Case in point, when you decide to break up with the bully, you have to be willing to go the distance. Once he abuses you back into submission, the exit remains blocked. Run as though your life depends  on it.

 I have been heartbroken about this and I am not even Baptist. I am happy that they acknowledged their mistake and are taking steps to correct it.

We made a mistake.
As part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, B&H Publishing Group released to several mass market retailers a Cancer Awareness Bible as a way to place God's Word into the hands of those suffering through breast cancer. As part of the project, B&H agreed to donate $1 from the sale of each Bible to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation for breast health education, screening and treatment programs.
As this project has developed, we realized it was a mistake.
When our leadership discovered the overwhelming concern that some of Komen's affiliates were giving funds to Planned Parenthood, we began the arduous process of withdrawing this Bible from the market. Though we have assurances that Komen's funds are used only for breast cancer screening and awareness, it is not in keeping with LifeWay's core values to have even an indirect relationship with Planned Parenthood.
B&H's mission to advance the gospel through distribution of God's Word is unchanged, so we will continue to seek innovative ways that are in keeping with LifeWay's core values.

Lifeway publishes Bible that benefits Komen who donate to PP....

 Update: 
 I am still awaiting my response  but Moral Outcry reports receiving this response via email:

but will not have any ongoing relationship.

Please join us in prayer that those suffering from breast cancer will be comforted by these Bibles."

Moral Outcry reports  that a new Bible is on the market with a link to Komen giving  5% of the purchase  to Komen. 

"The publisher," B&H Publishing is known for the Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB), a relatively new and solid Bible translation. B&H is a division of Lifeway Resources.  Lifeway is a  resource from the Southern Baptist Convention, generally a strong supporter of the right to life." 

It is also being sold at Walmart.  This is surprising to many of us in TN. Nashville is the corporate home for Lifeway and B&H publishing. We have many Lifeway outlets here. The Southern Baptists have always been strong on their pro life convictions.

Is this ignorance on their part of the history of Susan G. Komen  partnering with Planned Parenthood? It seems unlikely. Would they put commercial interest over core principles??

I have called B&H publishing who acknowledge that they published this for outlets such as Walmart and make a point to tell me that Lifeway stores do not sell this product. Yes, they are owned by Lifeway.  As to the decision to partner with Komen who will receive 5% of the purchase....that's when they take my name and number and say someone will get back to me. I await their call and/or response to my email with the same question. Lifeway of course simply state they do not sell it and refer me to B&H.
It took a little research on the Komen website but when I did a search for Lifeway...this came up.

Komen ...cannot control where $$ to PP goes

The Free Thinker which bills itself as the voice of atheism since 1881...needs to put on their thinking cap.

They  are annoyed that the bishop of OH has come out publicly against contributing to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure because they give money to Planned Parenthood and are not closing the door to the possible use of funds to support embryonic stem cell research.  This is old news to the pro life movement. We have known about Susan G. for sometime. What I find interesting is that despite their PR spin about the funds are just for breast exams etc. and the old fire wall excuse of no funds find it's way elsewhere with the nation's largest promoter of abortions, this little gaffe....caught my eye. You know what a gaffe is...when someone in the PR dept. slips up and accidentally lets the truth out . 

First it admits it cannot control the flow of funds once the cash arrives at PP and then they repeat the inaccurate claim that PP does mammograms. PP has been called on that one.They  may do a topical exam and hand you a brochure but if  a mammo is indicated they refer you out. They don't have mammography equipment nor do they have trained staff. As I have said previously, the topical exam is one that anyone can be trained to do. I attended  a women's luncheon and the guest speaker trained us.

"Currently, Planned Parenthood is the largest provider of abortions in the United States, but it also offers offer free breast exams and mammograms, considered key to early detection of breast cancer. While Susan G Komen for the Cure said it intends its contributions to go toward these exams, it cannot control how funds are allocated at Planned Parenthood."

What a shock....
