BBC shows on death seem to be popular...from natural death in hospice to assisted suicide

Are we fascinated with death....it appears in the UK they are...and we probably are as well.

The BBC is airing the final days of a man who is being cared for in a hospice facility. This is in response to the previous airing of documentary of a man  traveling to Switzerland to partake of  assisted suicide  at Dignitas. BTW, the owner of Digitas is reported to be quite wealthy for his efforts in running a modest apartment where he offers a lethal cocktail and disposal of remains usually by  cremation. People arguing against assisted suicide felt that this feature was nothing more than a cheer leading for the practice which is not yet legal in the UK. BBC also aired a special about a woman going to Dignitas to have an assisted suicide because she did not want to die of old age. Yikes....are we that narcissistic ??

Dignitas: offering companion suicides ...don't want to be alone, die with your ill spouse

Great article points out how the owner of the suicide hotel is making a fortune off others illness and grieving.

There’s a cushy living to be made out of assisted suicide. One man, Ludwig Minelli, is living proof of it: he is alleged to have done well out of his Dignitas clinic, where, for $10,000, someone who is terminally ill can be helped to die by their “loved one”.

The person who packs their bags for Dignitas (no need for a toothbrush: the whole procedure takes only a couple of hours) is likely to belong to the well-educated, articulate elite who are addicted to choice and who view assisted suicide as the ultimate consumer choice. They want to stage-manage their death as they have stage-managed every other aspect of their lives, from childbirth through marriage to divorce.

But the present law does have a big drawback. It prompts a certain elite to fly off to Zurich and line Ludwig Minelli’s pockets. That is a dismal prospect – all the more so now that he proposes to extend his clinic’s death services to the healthy partners accompanying their loved ones on their final journey. Perhaps he’ll make them a “two for the price of one” offer – but I wouldn’t count on it.

We are so PC....save the environment....forget the human

I don't understand.....if you take your loved one to be killed at the Dignitas ( the assisted suicide place in Zurich), don't you take the remains home  to be buried?  It cost about $10K for the death but does that include burial? The owners of Dignitas have been caught dumping their clients in  Lake Zurich. The Swiss are outraged...Zurich Church spokesman Nicolas Mori said "It is like getting rid of the rubbish, just getting it out of sight and out of mind, and we condemn it totally."
Not the killing mind you, that is legal but  the cost to the environment from the remains. Dignitas boss Ludwig Minelli now faces up to three years jail and a £3,000 fine for carrying out unauthorized burials. My what a confused world we live in.Read more:

Meanwhile across the pond...Good news from Canada on this issue: From Pro Life.org.uk

The Canadian Parliament has strongly defeated a bill that would have legalized assisted suicide and euthanasia. Bill C-384, a private member’s bill, was defeated by 228 votes to 59 on Wednesday 21 April. This defeat followed a similar attempt to legalize euthanasia in France last year which was also heavily defeated.
