Pro Life thoughts in a pro choice world through the eyes of a convert.
I took early retirement after working in the social work and Human Resources fields but remain active by being involved in pro life education, lobbying and speaking .
Interesting article from LaShawn Barber that appeared in PJ Media. You almost can't make this stuff up.
" A story on
CNSNews goes into detail about an Obamacare regulation that took effect on August 1 that requires health care plans in the U. S. to provide tax-funded (or free, in liberal terminology) contraceptive methods that include sterilization for "for women with reproductive capacity. "
When you think of it, it almost boggles your mind. Pelosi's dodge is almost laughable if she wasn't in a position to shape public policy.
"In Oregon, a 15-year-old cannot obtain a driver’s license or legally drink alcohol, but she can ask a doctor to make her infertile. In Oregon, a 15-year-oldcannot consent to sex, but she can consent to a procedure that will ensure she won’t get pregnant. Ever.
CNSNews asked House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi about the regulation: “You mentioned the preventive services mandate. One of the services that health care plans have to offer free of charge are sterilizations. And I was wondering do you agree with the federal government mandating—” Pelosi said: “You know what, I told you before, let’s go to church and talk about our religion…Right here we’re talking about public policy as it affects women and we’re not, you know that this bill is—” CNSNews.com asked: “No, it has nothing to do with the religious views but do you—” Pelosi said: “No, it does.”
So now we are paying for minors to get sterilized without parental consent and Pelosi thinks we are talking about religion??
There is much consternation and press over the battle brewing with the Pro Life Democrats....12 of them fell under pressure from Obama and Pelosi . As my previous post touched on the battle that has landed in the courts and amazingly ACLU of OH sided with the pro life Susan B Anthony on the issue of free speech and their right to campaign on this issue. Susan B. Anthony is targeting those who threw their pro life credentials under the bus when the going got tough and voted for Obamacare. They tried to hide behind the sham fig leaf of an Executive Order.
TN Right to Life remains a non partisan single issue advocacy organization and despite rumors to the contrary do support true pro life Democrats. They know a thing or two about pressure to compromise on the issue of Life.
With all the chatter of those who caved, there is not much mention of those few who stood....one is here in TN. Lincoln Davis (D) represents the 4th district. He is running for reelection in a year when being an incumbent is a clear disadvantage. Lincoln, despite intense Washington pressure, maintains a 100% voting record for Life. Wow...that is no small accomplishment inside the beltway with a Democratic controlled Congress and White House. Many have fallen for empty promises and gotten trapped... just ask Bart Stupak.
Here's to one who stood for the sanctity of life under pressure-100% of the time. Thank you Lincoln Davis. Tested and not found wanting.....
Carter is clearly the underdog and has to do something to gain attention but I am not sure he picked the right subject. Reading the comments, Republicans are laughing at him and saying the only way to get Pelosi to resign is to elect Republicans and take her post away....the Dems are equally as mocking of Carter for this publicity stunt. However, no one on either side believes that if elected, he would not vote for Pelosi....not to worry, his chances are slim to none.
Democratic District 6 Congressional candidate Brett Carter is asking
U.S. House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi to step aside for the
good of Democratic candidates.
Carter, in an announcement made in Nashville on Thursday morning, said he sent a letter to Pelosi requesting her to step aside. “I think it is incumbent on Speaker Pelosi to step aside,” Carter said.
Citing a report in the Murfreesboro Daily News Journal,
where Carter was described to have an albatross around his neck in the
form of Pelosi, said the divisiveness she generates hamstrings his and
other Democratic candidates’ abilities to focus on the issues.
“I don’t believe my situation is unique,” Carter said. If elected, Carter said he would not cast his vote for Nancy Pelosi to be speaker.
It is this first vote that Carter said many of the public is focused on, rather than his qualifications as a candidate.
"It is time that we show Washington and time we show America that we are prepared to lead going forward," Carter said.
In
the release issued following Carter’s statement, he said Republicans
are pointing at Speaker Pelosi as the “embodiment of our problems” and
that Democrats can move forward with their agenda once they “take away
that weapon.”
“Ultimately, I believe it is not me who
should be saying this,” Carter said. “I’m going to be the kind of leader
that says what needs to be said.”
Carter took no questions after the announcement, leaving for speaking engagements in Cookeville.
Planned Parenthood Names Pelosi “Champion of Women’s Health”
from Suzy B.org
Thursday night, as reported by Lifenews, Planned Parenthood threw a party-featuring 300 cheering high school students and college students where Cecile Richards presented Nancy Pelosi with the “Champion of Women’s Health” award.
Since “Women’s Health" is primarily a euphemism for abortion, I’m actually inclined, for once, to agree with Planned Parenthood. Pelosi certainly is their champion!
Her efforts to ram health care that includes taxpayer funding of abortion down the throats of Americans, for which she is being rewarded, practically make her the abortion queen. Or maybe Cecile Richards is the queen? Pelosi can be abortion princess.
Another thing Pelosi is the champion of : hypocrisy. The prime example of this being her blatant actions and words against life while still, bizarrely, claiming to be a faithful Catholic.
Pelosi has earned her title. We’ll let her keep it, but let’s do everything we can to take away her power.
Despite global warming, hell might be freezing over, because the very liberal Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, is apparently encouraging the Catholic clergy to campaign for immigration reform from the pulpit during Sunday mass! Wow.
Speaking at the Catholic Community Conference in Washington, Mrs. Pelosi said, "Cardinals, the Archbishops, the Bishops, that come to me and say, 'We want you to pass immigration reform,' [I say] I want you to speak about it from the pulpit. I want you to instruct... the people [that] oppose immigration reform and are sitting in those pews... that this is a manifestation of our living the Gospels."
Amen?
For decades, liberal Americans have been hammering conservatives about the alleged "wall of separation" between church and state. Many on the left fervently believe that Thomas Jefferson and James Madison wanted no exposure of spirituality in the public arena and no political discourse disguised as religious instruction. If a church does that, it could lose its tax-exempt status.
But now, apparently, everything has changed, and it's "say amen, say hallelujah" to a new immigration law. Building on the speaker's newfound strategy, I guess we can expect preachers to be commenting on government spending, drilling for oil, and a VAT tax as well. I, for one, am looking forward to this. Father Smith's mustard seed sermon is used up, and I can't wait for the good padre to tackle cap and trade.
But the most stunning thing about Nancy Pelosi's point-of-view on political sermons is that it's coming from Nancy Pelosi. Remember, she's a Catholic who is stridently pro-choice. In fact, if the speaker lived in Rhode Island, she might have been told what Congressman Patrick Kennedy was told by the Archbishop: You can't receive the sacraments until you obey church teaching on abortion.
The group Americans United for Separation of Church and State says the speaker is "fundamentally misguided." They put forth that the clergy should not be politicizing church services, at least not on the tax free dime.
But Mrs. Pelosi does not seem to be swayed. Emboldened by Roger Cardinal Mahoney of Los Angeles who has made "humane" treatment for illegal immigrants his signature issue, the speaker is hell-bent on converting the Sunday faithful to her side, separation or no separation.
Of course, the church-state issue has been greatly distorted in this country. The Constitution is crystal clear: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof." Therefore, cultural signs of spirituality, such as crosses and Stars of David, are perfectly permissible in public places as long as authorities don't force Americans to believe in what they stand for. Also, there are plenty of issues that cross political and moral boundaries like abortion, and, yes, how to treat illegal immigrants. Certainly, religious leaders have a right to address them in moral terms.
So, Nancy Pelosi is partially correct. Moral issues should be addressed by the clergy, and if they are relevant to current legislation, so be it. But you can't cherry pick your issues, Madame Speaker, and the Gospels are quite clear about the sanctity of life... are they not?

Imagine the gall and hypocrisy....... Pelosi does not want anyone preaching the pro life message from the pulpit but tells a Catholic conference they should preach about immigration reform from the pulpit. She calls is a manifestation of our living the gospel! But the killing of pre born children in the womb is off limits according to her pro abortion agenda..... Will they listen to her or challenge her? That's what I want to see.
Pelosi Says
She's Told Catholic Cardinals, Archbishops and Bishops They Must Tell
Catholics Immigration Reform is a 'Manifestation of Our Living the
