Walters: Jobs most fascinating person of 2011...

Barbara Walters is a mother by adoption  and  pro choice. Where does she think those babies come from or is it a case of I have mine so now I don't really care? Walters hosts an annual show at this time of the year giving her opinion of the most fascinating people of the year. It is a mishmash of celebs, politico types and other news makers. Most of this year's nominees are infamous if not strange. But the most fascinating person of the year is the late Steve Jobs.

I find it interesting that she does not mention that he was adopted at birth and if his birth mother had considered him "products of conception" we would have not had the benefit of his wonderful mind and all the contributions he brought to us. No, she just does not mention that aspect. Steve was happy to be alive and not aborted as unplanned and unwanted.

60 minutes: Steve Jobs abandoned at birth because his birth mom choose adoption

  I was very  disappointed in the incorrect and negative language used on 60 minutes last night when talking about Steve Jobs. His birth mother and father did not "abandon" him. They made a loving and responsible adoption decision for him, putting his best interest first.
He was not " put up for adoption" but his birth parents made an adoption plan. His " real parents" were Clara and Paul Jobs. They did a good job explaining that  to him when asked that  he was chosen.
Too bad 60 minutes were so ignorant of adoption that they portrayed it that way. Birth mothers who choose life and make an adoption plan should not be denigrated but celebrated.

Jobs: Because his parents were Paul and Clara ...

So many articles about Steve Jobs and many of them contradict each other....born in  Green Bay or San Fransisco?

Those are minor things but I note that much ink is spilled over his birth parents. Did they regret the adoption plan since he turned out to be such a success? Did he ever meet them? I think the answer is no by all accounts although he did meet his biological sister as an adult and they were friends. But I can't help but notice very little is said about the parents that raised him. They are his parents by adoption yes...but his parents that nurtured and raised him.

All the press is on his biological parents. This article even calls his relationship with his birth parents "estranged" or  a "rift." I realize that it makes   a juicier story to explore who sired him but the reality is not as exciting. How about the fact that Jobs did not know his biological parents?  He never met them. There was no rift or estrangement that suggests that there was a relationship that later ruptured.  Men tend to be less inquisitive about these things by nature. He did not know them! His parents were Paul and Clara Jobs.  They raised him.  As this article states, of the secretive Jobs ...
"And on the rare occasions that he talked about his adoptive parents, he revealed a special admiration for them. He described his father as “a genius with his hands” and said that what he wanted for his own children was “to try to be as good a father to them as my father was to me.”
He just did not spend much time thinking about the people who had a biological attachment to him only.  Many adoptees feel this way. As I said,  men are much less curious about who sired them but even some women feel no need to search or dwell on it. They have parents who raised them and that is enough. Perhaps for Jobs that is the case as his private nature revealed when speaking of his parents....Paul and Clara. Not to take anything away from the birth mother who choose life and then made an adoption plan but he was raised by Paul and Clara.  Let's not give them short shift here...they are his parents and there is no estrangement or rift.

Steve Jobs....products of conception

While we love our I pads and I phones and mourn the passing of Steve Jobs....human being....genius.....did you know he was just "products of conception?"

  It started with two graduate students from the University of Wisconsin.  Joanne Schiebel  got pregnant from Syrian  Political Science professor Abdulfattah Jandali. Her parents did not approve of them marrying, they did not have the financial resources , and  she wanted to continue her education.
Yes, this was pre Roe Vs Wade but abortions were still being done. Joanne decided on an adoption plan for her pre born child. She felt strongly that she wanted her child to be well educated and selected a lawyer and his wife. But when Steve was born the selected couple declined because they really wanted a girl....remember this was before ultrasounds. So another couple got the call to  adopt the bouncing baby boy. Joanne  was skeptical at first because they did not have the education she was looking for. The husband was a machinist and the mother an accountant. But they promised they would provide this baby with the opportunity to go to college. They kept that promise working hard and sacrificing to send Steve to college but as we know he dropped out after one semester,  frustrated with the constraints of formal education.

  He benefited from a stable family and a strong father/son relationship.
As a boy, Jobs and his father would work on electronics in the family garage. Paul would show his son how to take apart and reconstruct electronics, a hobby which instilled confidence, tenacity, and mechanical prowess in young Jobs.
Much is being written about Jobs today. But for all his accomplishments let's remember some heroes in the background. Joanne Schiebel who did not think of her pre born child as just "products of conception." She choose life and made an adoption plan with his best interest in mind.

RIP.....Steve Jobs....products of conception

Jobs: A business man with more than profit on his mind

Steve Jobs says 'No Porn' for iPhone and iPad Apps
* By Randy Sly

* Catholic Online (www.catholic.org)
No unauthorized apps are allowed
" (W)e do believe we have a moral responsibility to keep porn off the iPhone...You know, there's a porn store for Android....You can download nothing but porn. You can download porn, your kids can download porn. That's a place we don't want to go - so we're not going to go there". (Steve Jobs)

Those who criticize Jobs for his refusal to allow his product to be used for porn under the guise of privacy etc are in the minority. We appreciate that Jobs is a business man who has more than profit on his mind. May his tribe increase.
