TX: abuse, failure to protect, forced abortion .....all this in Austin, TX not China

Wow, there is so many things wrong with this story, you hardly know where to begin. This occurred in Austin TX where a 15 year old girl was living in the care of a step grandmother (who was her official guardian) and the boyfriend of the grandmother,  a registered sex offender, having served time for offenses against a 13 year old girl.  For some reason, she was not in the care of her biological mother.

In 2011 she pens an essay at school, describing  sexual abuse in her home changing the names as the teacher instructed. The teacher confers with the principal, which is appropriate,  but what happened next caused them to be indicted. They did not report this to the Dept. of Children's Services or other appropriate agency.  They contact the very people  the minor  alleges is guilty of the abuse and failure to protect. They make her apologize for "lying." How outrageous! The teacher and especially the two principals involved disobeyed the law mandating reporting of suspected abuse.

The following year she becomes pregnant. The story says it is by a teen age boyfriend,  but given the fact that she was living with an abuser, there is no evidence to support that.  The guardian try to force her to abort but she wants to carry to term and parent. She reaches out to her biological mother for support.  The mother sues to regain custody and this is where it gets even more outrageous. The mother reaches out to a pro life law firm.  They file a petition to have the minor placed in the care of her mother or state protective custody.   The judge listens to the girl in private chambers and she recounts the abusive situation that she is living in. He rules against her and returns her to the abusive home and they force her to abort. What?? So in Austin TX, a minor can be forced to abort against her wishes!! TN has a law in effect that says that no one can be forced to abort against their wishes regardless of the age. 

Given that she  was so adamant that about not aborting, that she and her mother retain lawyers to try to stop the abortion, what excuse does the abortionist have for performing this abortion? I find it hard to believe  that they did not know she was being forced  into this.  Is this China? No, this happened in Austin TX where Wendy Davis  gained overnight  sensation for filibustering against banning abortions after the fifth month!

Can it get any worse....yes it can. After she is  forced to abort and returned to the abusive situation, she is tied to the bed,  raped,  and witnessed her guardian being murdered. 
There is lots of outrage over what happened to her and that is understandable. There is another victim here and that is the baby  who died  due to the failure of so many people. Who do you go to sue for that?

TN: Sign saves baby's life...victim of past forced abortion celebrates this save....

This weekend I helped with the TN state oratory contest as a room moderator. I always enjoy listening to the teens original speeches on the life issue. Another volunteer in attendance was  Judy Charest. I have heard her testimony many times but each time I hear something else that stands out.  

Judy's heartbreaking testimony is of being forced as a 16 year old in 1972  to under a late  salt saline solution abortion by her step father is very moving .  She describes that her life following the forced abortion spiraled out of control and was self destructive in many ways. After years of therapy she wanted to do something to honor  the life of the son  she lost on that fateful day.  Read her  amazing  story here.


Never active in pro life  matters previously she found TN Right to Life by surfing the Internet and emailed a question that ended up being answered by the president of TN RTL. This led to a meeting and subsequent discussions and the end resulted in a plan of action for her to become involved...in a public way that could honor the brief life of her son she named David and  give him a voice.

She decided to lobby with TN RTL for a bill mandating  every abortion facility post a sign  in the waiting area  advising that it was illegal in TN for  anyone,  regardless of age,  to be forced to have an abortion against her will. This has always been the law but women and girls are not informed of this since informed consent is not a law in TN. Post abortive women have stated  they have been forced to make an abortion decision by their boyfriends, parents or husbands.  The abortion industry fought against this simple act of informing women of their rights  showing how prevalent it is and potentially cuts into their profits.

It certainly was a bold step to share what had been a family secret before legislators and committee members but with each step Judy became bolder and stronger. The bill became law in  2010.  Judy became vigilant in walking into abortion mills to see if the sign was properly displayed. One such facility under observation was the Women's Center in Nashville that is located just three doors down from a pregnancy resource center.   So what good does one sign do??

Just last week a young girl was brought to the Women's Center to have an abortion against her will by her mother. She thought she had no rights as a minor but saw the sign informing her of her rights under the law. She got up and ran out of the center to speak the the people praying outside. She wanted help and they directed her to the pregnancy resource center up the street. There she was able to receive and see a free ultrasound  of her baby boy. She was also able to find out about resources available to her in choosing life for her baby. 


Judy had the honor of reporting that this one sign resulted in giving this baby boy  a voice.....and through him  her son's  voice will be heard.

WI: Badger state votes down bill banning forced abortions....

 Update: Good news today out of WI...the bill passed. Yesterday the Dems blocked it but today was a different story. Congrats to the pro life legislators.  Good for WI and abortion vulnerable girls/women.

Okay, I know this is Pro Life in TN but I always watch what is going on in my home state  of WI. 

E gads, now the WI state Dems have just voted down a bill  that would have prevented  coerced abortions and required that a dr. be physically present to administer the abortion drug that has killed 14 American women so far. So are they saying they are okay with forced abortions and the safety of the woman taking RU486 can be shrugged off in favor of profit !!!

"RU 486  and its companion drug are administered between the fifth and ninth weeks of pregnancy, after pregnancy has been confirmed and the process typically involves three trips to a doctor. About half of the women abort while at the doctor’s office, with another 26 percent having an abortion within the next 20 hours at any location at home or in public. The remainder either have an abortion in the coming weeks or none at all of the drug fails to work — making it so a surgical abortion is required.
Through April, the FDA reports 2,207 adverse events related to the use of RU 486, including 14 deaths, 612 hospitalizations, 58 ectopic pregnancies, 339 blood transfusions, and 256 cases of infections in the United States alone. A European drug manufacturer has publicly stated that 28 women have died worldwide after using RU 486/mifepristone."

So legislators you are fine with coerced abortions for women/girls....how pro choice is that?? And you are so entwined with the abortion industry that you are willing to sacrifice  the women to this dangerous drug??  Perhaps this brings new meaning to the Badger state...

Sleeping with the enemy

 This  story caught my eye and what a sad story it is. This lady writes a pro choice blog but her story this time is personal. She reveals that she is going through a divorce as her husband has found another.....but to add insult to injury to make himself look less guilty, he divulges secrets about her that falls under the category of "it is non of their business "to family and friends. Isn't that what happens in the divorce process, in an effort to make yourself look less guilty you throw out all the dirt you can manufacture on the other party to justify your actions.  And what is equally sad is that the person you trusted with your secrets now has become the enemy who holds "classified information" about you.

But I digress......in this case her departing husband outed her on the fact that as a teenager she had an abortion which was forced on her by an hysterical mother. Every mother of a teen girl can relate. But even though she now devotes her life to writing a pro choice blog,  her post tells of the long term psychological consequences of this action even though it was forced upon her.

"To this day, I have PTSD and severe depression. When I turned eighteen, I moved away from her, and never spoke to her again. After an eleven-year estrangement, she died, while I was six months pregnant with my third child."

"Coercion and Forced abortions happen everyday." 

Today I will pray for Bella for healing. Healing from the betrayal and the loss. As she faces betrayal of her husband and the loss of a marriage, it reminds her of the loss of so many years ago and the betrayal at the hands of her mother who was supposed  to protect her in her hour of need. May she come to forgive her mother and her estranged husband so she can go on with her life free of bitterness.

Pharmacist in NY charged with secretly causing a miscarriage of girlfriend

Sayre police on Wednesday charged Orbin Eeli Tercero, 38, with criminal homicide of an unborn child, first-degree murder of an unborn child, aggra vated assault of an unborn child, aggravated assault, hindering apprehension or prosecution, and tampering with or fabricating physical evidence.  

Tercero, of Williamson Terrace, was arrested Thursday by state police in Bath as a fugitive from justice. He was arraigned in Bath Village Court and remanded to Steuben County Jail, pending a hearing on extradition to Pennsylvania. The charges are based on the following events, according to police: 

The victim, a 36-year-old woman from Sayre and a pharmacist at a Wegmans Market, said she had a two-year physical relationship with Tercero, also a Wegmans pharmacist. Tercero was engaged to another woman at the time. The victim, whose name is being withheld by this newspaper, told Tercero she was pregnant in mid-January. Tercero told the woman he could use the drug misoprostol to induce a miscarriage. The victim told Tercero she would get an abortion instead. The victim, however, made a Feb. 24 appointment for an abortion but changed her mind. She called Tercero to tell him she would keep the baby. In late February, on the victim's birthday, Tercero visited her at home and used misoprostol he allegedly stole from Wegmans pharmacy to cause the miscarriage. Without her knowing it, Tercero put one pill in her vagina, one in her juice and one in her water. She was 13 weeks pregnant at the time. When the victim began to miscarry, she found a partially dissolved misoprostol tablet among the discharge. Tercero drove the victim to Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, where she miscarried. Jo Natale, director of media relations at Wegmans, said Tercero is a former employee. She would not say when his employment ended. "He was not assigned to a single store; rather, he floated and worked at all of the stores in our Southern Tier division at one point or another," Natale said. That division includes Corning, Elmira, Hornell, Ithaca, Johnson City and Geneseo, she said. Natale would not comment on whether the drug misoprostol requires a prescription
