NARAL: Alarm email sent out ...may have to cancel 28 abortions in DC...raised $25K..... but not enough

NARAL  sent out a broadcast email with many  tidbits but this caught my eye.

Urgent!!....email....immediate attention needed.........

As  the shutdown of tax payer funding for abortions  in DC went into effect ... 28 women  had appointments  on the books for "abortion care." Panic.... 28 babies lives were about to be saved.

To the rescue....the abortion industry sent out a clarion call and raised $25,000 so these 28 babies will be no more. Whew, that was close!
Why did these champions of women not just do the deed for free?

Nice return though .....we need 28 abortions to go through....raise $25,000. They  then take a swipe at their Commander in Chief who never met an abortion he did not approve of....

"POTUS to Boehmer..."I will give you D.C. abortion. I am not happy about it.” :(

It's an impressive net $$$$, but it still falls far short of the $62,000 that D.C. Medicaid paid out to fund abortions in D.C. for just a few months.
$62,000 in just a few months....your tax money at work.

McWherter says he is personally pro life but supports "choice" but not with tax $$

A post online today outlining a speech given by gubernatorial candidate for TN, Mike McWherter in Nashville hosted by Jewish groups at the Akiva School.

"McWherter fielded several questions from the audience, and one was about abortion. He took a pro-choice stand but opposed public funding of abortions.
"That is one of the most difficult choices any woman faces in her lifetime, and when she is facing that choice I think we should give them all the support we possibly can," he said.
"I am personally against abortion. My faith leads me that way. I am never going to commit state tax dollars to support abortions. But I believe in the end that has to be the choice of the woman, and her doctor, and her family and, very hopefully, her clergy."
When the questioner asked if that meant someone who is poor could not receive government assistance, McWherter replied, "I will never support using tax dollars to fund abortion."

Students for Life: UNC says students can opt out of abortion coverage but it is not what it seems

On Thursday, August 12th, Students for LIfe of America (SFLA) received a response from the University of North Carolina Board of Governors in reaction to the SFLA grassroots campaign against the UNC System’s forced student abortion health care policy.
In response to this national controversy, the UNC System has announced that they will allow students opposed to abortion to “opt-out” of paying for abortion coverage.

The announcement by the UNC System shows the impact grassroots activism can have in effecting national case. However, it is not a victory. The UNC System is still considering abortion to be heath care. Abortion is not health care neither for the preborn child or his mother. Abortion should be removed from the UNC System completely.

In addition, there is another issue of national significance that has yet to be addressed. Federal grant money is directed to accredited colleges and universities from U.S. taxpayers through the Federal Student Aid Program. Student eligibility for federal grants is determined by the difference in the student’s ability to pay and the total “cost of attendance” for the school. This amount equals the student’s eligibility for federal funds. As stated by the UNC System, the cost of their abortion health care plan, if the student chooses to keep abortion in their plan, is added to the student’s “cost of attendance” calculation. This in turn, increases the student’s need for federal funds. Because of this increase in need, additional federal funds could be directed to the student to help cover this increase in cost.

This is using federal taxpayer money for abortion health care. This issue needs be addressed by the UNC Board of Governors.

The Obamacare Abortion Lie Is Up ...three out of five states checked planned to pay for abortions with tax dollars

PA, NM, and now MD.... As soon as NRTL finds them and publishes them...it hits the fan and then the back tracking. No longer it is not true...but whoops how did that happen. The Hyde Amendment which has to be renewed annually and only pertains to medicaid the worthless EO is not even classified as a fig. Lie exposed and now the backtracking and roll back by the states. So mad are the pro aborts...hey this is why we put up with the sham EO but to think you are really going to do it....well we will just see about that. You were supposed to be our guy! Pro lifers will keep checking....stay tuned. Great wrap up from NRO

From NRO
[Kathryn Jean Lopez]

Douglas Johnson from the National Right to Life Committee points out this afternoon that the federally funded Maryland high-risk pool was going to use federal funds for abortion coverage in their new Pre-existing Condition Insurance Plan (PCIP), too. Just like in Pennsylvania and New Mexico. (National Right to Life Committee has looked through five states' documentation, and an abortion-funding siren has gone off in three of them.) After NRLC, NR, the House Republican leader, and others highlighted this from the Pennsylvania and New Mexico plans this week, the Department of Health and Human Services finally issued a release yesterday assuring that they will, in fact, issue guidelines forbidding abortion coverage in the Obamacare federally funded PCIP state programs. And today, the National Women's Law Center, among others, are upset with the administration for saying they'll do such a thing. Which means the lie is up: Obamcare never prohibited abortion funding. It's a matter of administrative discretion. The Obama administration and other Democrats have been hawking the myths that a) there is some kind of global Hyde amendment that forbids all federally funded abortions and b) the executive order solves all problems. If a and b were true, how were any state plans approved that were covering abortions? The truth of the matter is that news today that Maryland was planning on funding abortions in their high-risk pool is but the tip of the iceberg. Don't be surprised if another story drops. And if it's not a high-risk pool. And the administration will have to provide a new myth or actually act — as HHS is saying it plans to — to prohibit that which is not currently prohibited. But don't expect them to admit they've been lying to us all this time.

PA, NM and Kenya.

PA and NM and Kenya....what do they all have in common. Obama wants to support abortion using our tax money. I already blogged about PA setting up high risk pools using tax money to pay for abortions and now New Mexico From  NRO
"In New Mexico, the new $37 million high-risk pool began enrolling individuals on July 1. They will start receiving benefits in August, including elective-abortion services, according to the state insurance department's website. Once a deductible is paid, 80 percent of the elective abortion is covered."
Now what's this about Kenya ? Well, in violation of the Siljander Amendment which carries civil and criminal penalties, Obama is funneling monies to NGO's that are rallying for the change in the constitution to include abortions.

Now the Obama administration is doing a double take and a quick soft shoe. First they said abortion is not in there and when proven wrong....they quickly pulled out the language proving their untruthfulness or incompetence...  take your pick. So now they are correcting the language stating their support for funding of abortion.
This makes NARAL  furious and they sent out a email blast demanding the pro choicers  remind this pro choice president who brought him to the dance.

Help us fight back. Tell President Obama that the abortion-coverage ban was not part of the agreement on health reform.

PA:tax payer abortion under Obama Care.....this is just the start

Well Mr. President what about that Executive Order...

Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) - The Obama administration has officially approved the first instance of taxpayer funded abortions under the new national government-run health care program. This is the kind of abortion funding the pro-life movement warned about when Congress considered the bill.
The Obama Administration will give Pennsylvania $160 million to set up a new "high-risk" insurance program under a provision of the federal health care legislation enacted in March.
It has quietly approved a plan submitted by an appointee of pro-abortion Governor Edward Rendell under which the new program will cover any abortion that is legal in Pennsylvania.

The high-risk pool program is one of the new programs created by the sweeping health care legislation, Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, President Obama signed into law on March 23. The law authorizes $5 billion in federal funds for the program, which will cover as many as 400,000 people when it is implemented nationwide.

"The Obama Administration will give Pennsylvania $160 million in federal tax funds, which we've discovered will pay for insurance plans that cover any legal abortion," said Douglas Johnson, legislative director for the National Right to Life Committee.

Johnson told LifeNews.com: "This is just the first proof of the phoniness of President Obama's assurances that federal funds would not subsidize abortion -- but it will not be the last."

We are the first!!!! TN House passes bill to remove tax funded abortion from state mandated exchanges in new Healthcare legislation

Rep. Matthew Hill did a great job of presenting this bill on the floor of the House last night.  Opponents  used their usual tactics of getting off topic  and presenting confusing and misleading amendments such as Rep Camper who wanted to attach an amendment that added vasectomy to the language and Rep. Odom who wanted to say that this bill would prevent women from having abortions to save their life...but the prize goes to Rep. Richardson who had to be called out of order when she asked Rep. Hill if he was a married man...she asked him if he knew what an IUD was  and do you know how the ring works and certain birth control pills. It was interesting to hear her say that abortion destroys a child after conception  which she said "some believe  to be when life begins." She is a strong supporter of the abortion industry but she recently was given a page out of  a public school biology textbook that states that life begins at conception.

In contrast, Rep. Hill was articulate and when he ended his presentation reminding his colleagues that someone said we should not be cold to children's    hopes and future and there is nothing colder than being dead.....he stated he is a married man with a son at home.....oh yes, you can ask me about devices then I can talk about Caleb......(it was Richardson that asked him if he was a married man).....at the end of the day what this bill is about is tax funding for abortions.
Go to this link  and scroll over to 3:35:11 to hear Rep. Richardson and then Rep. Hill's wonderful wrap up.
Thank you Rep. Hill

Tennessee Right to Life Applauds Removal of Abortion Coverage in State Exchange

(Nashville)  In a dramatic show of opposition to tax-payer funding of abortion, a strong bi-partisan majority of pro-life House members  passed HB 2681 which strictly limits the use of public funds in health exchanges mandated by the new federal health plan.

The language was passed 70-23 and states: "No health care plan required to be established in this state through an exchange pursuant to federal health care reform legislation enacted by the 111th Congress shall offer coverage for abortion services."

The state's leading pro-life organization applauded the bill's lopsided passage.

"Tennessee is a strongly pro-life state," said Brian Harris, president of Tennessee Right to Life.  "Following years of a pro-abortion minority squelching the voices of the majority, our legislators have boldly expressed our state's commitment to life," Harris said. "We thank each pro-life member for their leadership and their courage."

Right to Life singled out the bill's sponsor, pro-life state Representative Matthew Hill (R-Jonesborough) for praise. "Regardless of the attacks brought by pro-abortion activists, Rep. Hill remained focused on the mission of protecting unborn children and providing real help and alternatives to women and families in need," Harris said.

The Senate companion, SB 2686, will be heard in the Commerce committee on Wednesday where pro-life advocates hold a strong majority.

Bill advancing for TN to opt out of paying for abortion services in state health exchange

Good for Matthew Hill....being a pro life advocate.....I recently decided to review the fine print on my own policy under BCBS of TN. I purchase my own insurance on the open market. I was able to lower my premimums by selecting an insurance that carved out maternity benefits as there is no possibility of needing them....but I discovered that abortion was covered...so I called my rep....if I don't need maternity benefits there is no way abortion is ever going to be needed and I wanted to opt out not only to save more money but because I don't want to support abortion in any way....not possible I was told. This is not a "carve out" option.

Tennessee would opt out of using state tax money to pay for abortion services in state health care exchanges under legislation passed on a voice vote by the House Commerce Committee on Tuesday.
The bill is sponsored in the House by state Rep. Matthew Hill, R-Jonesborough.
Health exchanges were included in the health care reform bill passed by Congress and signed into law by President Barack Obama. House Speaker Emeritus Jimmy Naifeh, D-Covington, asked Hill for an explanation of the bill and pointed out abortion restrictions were already in the health care reform bill.

“The state has to take action on it to opt ourselves out of it so our tax money isn’t used for (abortion),” Hill told Naifeh.
“You obviously feel like this is necessary in spite of what they have in the bill, therefore you wouldn’t have had it here I assume?” Naifeh asked Hill.
“That is correct,” Hill said.
According to the state’s Fiscal Review Office, Obama issued an executive order ensuring the health care reform bill “be consistent” with longstanding restrictions on the use of federal funds for abortions.

“The provisions in the bill should not put the state in jeopardy of losing federal funds or result in sanctions imposed against the state for not meeting mandated federal regulation requirements. ... Currently, the TennCare (Medicaid) program reimburses for abortions in the cases of rape or incest as required by current federal law,” the office pointed out.

State Rep. Eric Swafford, R-Pikeville, asked Hill if his bill was a “preemptive strike” for what could happen with health care reform.
“I think it is partially that as well as also an option given to each individual state by the federal (health care reform) legislation,” Hill answered.

State Rep. Brenda Gilmore, D-Nashville, noted Hill’s legislation had broader language prohibiting coverage for abortion services under “any health care plan” related to federal reform legislation.

“It seems that this legislation, because of what has been done at the federal level, I think is premature and probably not necessary,” she told Hill.

“I would respectfully disagree with that,” Hill responded. “I feel it is extremely necessary because ... we can continue to ensure our Tennessee tax money does not go to fund abortions at the federal level.”

Hill’s legislation now moves on to the House Calendar and Rules Committee for consideration and a subsequent House floor vote.
