Well I am not a huge PETA fan because I think they are over the top but I do have to give them credit for creativity in getting their message across. But an animal is not a child (human being) with a soul.
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- An animal rights group is now tying its latest advertising campaign to Sunday's slaying of abortion provider Dr. George Tiller.
The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals is launching a billboard campaign that's bound to ignite new controversy.
At first glance, the PETA billboards might make you think the issue was abortion, but the ads are actually promoting animal rights and vegetarianism. In this case, the terms "pro-life" and "pro-choice" are referring to whether or not you choose to eat meat.
"PETA has often made controversial comparisons and will continue to do so because it's really important to get what goes on behind the scenes of animal suffering into the forefront," PETA's Holly Beal said."The right-to-life issue is at an all-time high right now, and we want people to look at an animal's rights, and each time they sit down to eat, they can stop animal suffering by what they choose to eat."
Critics said comparing eating meat to aborting a child is going too far.
"While this might leave a bad taste in people's mouths, animal suffering should as well, too," Beal said.
PETA said they intend to have the new billboards posted soon in Wichita. Kansas City may also get some of the ads, if the budget allows.
