Live Action calls out Knoxville News Sentinel Falsely Claims Knoxville, Planned Parenthood Doesn’t Do Abortions

Knoxville News Sentinel Falsely Claims Knoxville, Planned Parenthood Doesn’t Do Abortions

The Knoxville News Sentinel in their in-house editorial says:
Planned Parenthood, which offers abortion services in some locations across the country but not in Knoxville, had drawn complaints from some parents.
The problem with this statement is that it is factually incorrect. Screen shot from Planned Parenthood’s website (which you can see for yourself here) showing that their Knoxville, TN center aborts unborn children:

Susie, you conveniently left out what the PP knoxville website actually lists under Abortion Services:

Knoxville Health Center offers the following services:

abortion pill (medication abortion)
pre- and post-abortion patient education
post-abortion follow-up exams
referrals for abortion services
referrals for abortion-related counseling

While they offer the abortion pill, they do not perform surgical abortions. That is likely what the article was referring to.

PP does list it but the point of the article was that Knox News said PP of Knox does not do abortions. that is incorrect, they do the abortion pill which is a chemical abortion. The article points out that the fault lies with the reporter of Knox News who does not report correctly. the reporter acted like they did not do abortions...they do, chemical abortions.

Certainly Susie. But by leaving out what they actually list under "Abortion Services" and that they note abortion referrals in there, it is not apparnt how the reporter could have made the mistake.

That error aside, the article is a good one and speaks directly to the problem of out side groups coming into the public schools to teach sex ed.

We have a similar issue here where Christian-based groups are trying to get into our classrooms and teach their abstinence-only. Fortunately our schools have also banned this.
