Standing at the Rea Sea and trusting God.....faith tested and remaining strong

David and Kathy
With her usual optimism and strong faith in God, Kathy Hardin, White House, TN is facing her latest challenge……cancer. Diagnosed with breast cancer a year and a half ago and now in her leg, pelvis and spine, she continues her normal routine in a wheelchair. Kathy has homeschooled all nine of her children, with six still in the process. She also finds time to tutor a friend’s child.

Kathy and her husband David have resided in White House over 20 years. Their entire family is active in many activities putting their faith to work in everyday life.

Five years ago, the Hardins undertook a step of faith when they worked and fund raised to adopt a young child from Armenia who suffers from spina bifida. Before the adoption could be completed, 3 year old Karene became critically ill. She was in need of surgery, but developed meningitis and lost over 20 pounds.

On faith, Kathy flew to Armenia and completed the adoption in record time. What occurred next was nothing short of a miracle. Karene’s medical needs could not be met in the hospital that lacked basic necessities. Kathy flew home on a commercial flight with her critically ill child and Vanderbilt hospital completed the needed surgery and care. Karene is now 8 and an active member of the family giving her mom tips in how to careen her wheel chair.

Kathy and David have always been the first to help others, whether it is feeding the homeless or hosting orphans. Now her friends are helping them. David is currently on an unpaid leave of absence from his job to care for Kathy. A  Facebook page called Help Kathy Hardin has been set up detailing ways to help them.

In typical form Kathy sees this through her faith lens as another miracle.

“What is a miracle is the chance to bring glory to God. So if I am healed then He gets the glory for the miracle. If I am not healed then I have the opportunity to show that I serve a God that I can have total trust in to have it all under control.”
