PPH of IA announces merger with AR/Eastern OK....

AR: The merger is on.... the notorious PP Heartland of IA with clinics in AR and Eastern OK.

"Planned Parenthood leaders say the merger will allow them to offer affordable, quality health care to everyone who needs it.  The organization offers services like adoption, sexual assault exams, male services, and LGBT care, and contraceptives. "
Where is the A word...they are so careful not to say it.  Are  they going to do all this by webcam?
"The merger will allow Planned Parenthood of the Heartland to acquire nearly 30 health care centers located throughout Nebraska, Iowa, Arkansas, and eastern Oklahoma.  Planned Parenthood of the Heartland is based in Des Moines."
This is designed to overcome the shortage of abortion providers in AR. Abortions are the lucrative part of the business model.

National Right to Life and AR Right to Life had their own press conference.

"PPH is best known outside the Midwest for its championing of webcam abortions, which it began offering web-cam abortions in 2008. Under the webcam system, an abortionist, maybe from a clinic in a large urban center, communicates with a woman at a remote location by means of a video conferencing system."

Jose Baez....think twice about a country that decides to kill its own citizens....is he pro life?

Jose Baez, defense attorney for Casey Anthony....

“I think that this case is a perfect example of why the death penalty does not work and why we all need to stop and look and think twice about a country that decides to kill its own citizens."

TN: Memphis PP prez can boast comp above ave even in hard times

A look at the numbers shows another reason why Planned Parenthood of Memphis is so desperate to keep the government $$ coming in.  According to their most recent  published 990  financial information , the Memphis abortion facility paid their top executive Barry Chase more than  $121K .  They reported a revenue of approximately 2.8 million ...28% of that is from govt. grants i.e.our tax $$.

A recent survey of the Non Profit Times shows the average compensation for executives of similarly sized non profits at approximately $96, 500.  What qualities does Chase bring to his  job that justify compensation significantly above average when compared with other non-profit organizations?  Could it be his ability to keep the government cash coming when other Planned Parenthood affiliates are losing theirs?

Webcam abortions to AR via merger?? Announcement expected today

Neighboring AR may be getting ready to introduce webcam abortions to their state. In a news conference today, it is expected that the merger of Planned Parenthood of Arkansas and Eastern Oklahoma with Des Moines, Iowa-based Planned Parenthood of the Heartland will be announced. This seems to be the direction that PP is taking.....having mega abortion centers. As you remember, the webcam abortions was introduced in IA. This is where a dr. sits before a computer in one location can use a computer to give her an abortion pill in another location via a webcam. I am so grateful that our state legislators in TN had the foresight to pass legislation against webcam abortions this past session because this is the new cash cow of PP.
In her email, June (of PP)did not address the procedure specifically, though she did say the merger was “about the future: The future of a woman and her family to access health care; the future of medicine delivery through technology and the quality services provided by Planned Parenthood."
“This merger is just a sign on the wall that they are not happy with the two clinics in Arkansas,” Arkansas Right to Life Executive Director Rose Mimms said today. “The bottom line is dollars. They want more."

TN: Unborn victims receive new respect in law

From TN Right to Life.....this is why it is important to elect pro life legislators....

Early on the morning of January 5, 2004, two men were driving their pickup truck past a woman walking up a Nashville street when she collapsed.  Antonio Dejesus Idelfonso and Eliseo Marcelino-Quintero immediately stopped to see if they had hit her and found Tracy Owen, a 32 year old pregnant woman, lying on the road crying for help. Idelfonso told police that he responded, "Here's your help," and shot her five times in the upper body. One of the bullets struck her preborn child.

Idelfonso and Marcelino-Quintero said that they killed Tracy because they thought they had struck her with their pickup truck and feared they would get in trouble.

At the time Deputy District Attorney, Tom Thurman, told The Tennessean that the state's law applied only to any unborn child able to live outside the mother's womb.

Thankfully, as of last Friday, crimes such as these in Tennessee will now fully recognize two victims, regardless of the age of the unborn child.

With enactment of Tennessee's 2011 expanded Unborn Victims of Violence Act, prosecutors will be able to bring charges against individuals such as Idelfonso and Marcelino-Quintero and give recognition to the humanity and life of unborn children assaulted or killed in the commission of a crime.

Together with our sponsors, pro-life state Senator Mae Beavers (R-Mt. Juliet) and pro-life state Representative Joshua Evans (R-Greenbrier), Tennessee Right to Life led the effort to expand this protection.

Highlights from pro life blogs......

MN Concerned Citizens for Life explains how state funded human cloning can become law in  their state on July 1st as the two yr. ban sunsets. Efforts to continue the ban were included in the omnibus bill that was recently vetoed by Gov. Dayton. Unless special language can be included in the final budget, MN can see legalization of  human cloning and at tax payers' expense. Testifying in favor of cloning and tax funding was the  U of MN.

Mommy Life  takes exception  to a recent  comment  that ..." Catholicism/Christianity were most compatible with the Democrat Party because we should provide for the poor." She points out that providing and caring for the poor does not mean handing our money to the govt. for them to decide how to spend it but to provide personal "conservative/self-sacrificing/lifetime commitment." She points to conservative talk show host, Laura Ingraham,  who has proudly announced that she has adopted a third child.
"I'm thrilled to announce that I have adopted a new baby boy. Nikolai Peter (13 mo's) joins Maria (6) and Dmitri (3). We are blessed."

Parenting Freedom lists the reported abnormalities  that sentenced these babies to death by their mother...in the UK. Why is this important? The pro life community waged a 5 yr battle to get their Dept. of Health to reveal these statistics.
"Julia Millington, spokeswoman for the ProLife Alliance, said: 'This is a great victory for transparency and freedom of speech and we are delighted that full information about the justification for late abortions is now being made available in the same detail as it was in 2001."
Congratulations for staying after them.

The Culture Warrior links to an article in the WSJ touting  a new noninvasive blood test for pregnant women to find out as early as 9 weeks pregnancy if they are carrying a Down Syndrome child.  Instead of applauding this discovery, we should be very wary. Culture Warrior points out the following ...

"Scary stuff really, because this will make the eugenic screening of people with Down syndrome even easier to carry out...[S]ome members of the Down syndrome community have said they fear the new tests might prompt women to terminate their pregnancies based on faulty or incomplete information. Hold on, so are they saying that it’s okay to abort a baby as long as it definitely has Down syndrome?"

Culture Campaign reports a wonderful trend
" Russian lawmakers, worried about a falling birth rate, passed a law on Friday that abortion advertisements must carry a health warning." This report says that the new law that is expected to pass will require that abortion advertisements  to carry a health warning. " Maybe we can learn something from Russia.

The Anti Abortion Gang discusses posts on pro choice blogs on the choice of words between babies/fetus and loss due to miscarriage or abortion. Their  bottom line is the mother's wishes takes dominion over the right to life of the unborn and the terminology has no bearing.

The Abstinence Clearinghouse Blog applauds the decision of the Catholic  University of America in Washington D.C. to return to single sex dorms. They state that the "ethical challenges" of binge drinking and "hooking up" influenced this decision.  Amazingly, a George Washington law professor is suing them for sex discrimination.

Abortion in Washington  continues to put the heat on their  local NPR station for ..."False and Misleading Story on Vitae Caring Foundation." They have filed a formal complaint with the Washington News Council.

TN: Nashville PP glad they lost their $335K grant...it was such a drain!!

Oh this is rich. The Tennessean pushes an article that makes you laugh.

They profile a  28 yr.old college educated woman who works full time but comes to PP for her discounted/free birth control. She bemoans, along with the Tennessean,  that she will now have to go to the metro health dept. for the same services or pay more at PP. Shriek!!!!

PP, Jeff Teague, then says actually losing this funding is helpful to them and they had planned not to accept this anyway since it just is such a "drain" on them. Ya, right...that is why they spend big time lobbyist $$ fighting this tooth and nail. So he is just so sorry that women will now have to go to the Metro Health Dept. to get the same services instead of his place. His concern if for the women you see. Well then give up the abortion end of your business where the $$ is and run your place like a true non profit giving women health care services.  Hmmm...didn't think so.

He claims they had to dig into their educational budget to continue to fund the welcomed foot traffic that comes for free bc when the annual $335,000 grant ran out. Want to see an example of their wonderful educational services geared toward our teen and pre teen population. Go to ..."takecaredownthere.org/I didn't even spew....Viewer warning. Hey but this is for the kids right? PP is proud that this won an award "2009 Webby Award" for cutting  interactive work. Ugh!! So if they are proud, let's put an example up. Proud Tennessean, proud PP!! This is just one of the PP proud videos...again viewer alert!!

As always, we welcome your suggestions for additions to our Top Blogs (see tab on right side of home page)! Email Susie@jillstanek.com.
  • Women’s Rights without Frontiers, our newest blog addition, features a sobering video on the atrocity of forced abortion and sterilization in China – funded by the international community through UNFPA, the International Planned Parenthood Federation, and Marie Stopes International:

  • In honor of Fertility Awareness Month, Timmerie’s blog has a post on society’s search for alternatives to infertility via surrogacy, IVF, and egg donation – all fraught with moral and legal issues.
  • Suzy B calls out NY Democrat Rep. Louise Slaughter for “cross[ing] the line of decency” when she told a crowd of abortion supporters pro-lifers are “here to kill women,” and “You are allowed to have an abortion if you’ve been raped or it’s a matter of incest. However, you have to keep a receipt. Did you know that? It’s sort of like an old German Nazi movement: show me your papers.”
  • Star Studded Superstep discusses the convoluted strange rants and unbalanced claims made against Abby Johnson by Army of God member Rick Ellis.
  • ProWomanProLife links to the heartwarming story of a woman who, at age 18, placed her son for adoption only to have him find her through Facebook 36 years later to tell her what a wonderful life he has lived. PWPL aptly notes this woman “might have chosen abortion, and that would have been the end of the story.”
  • Pro-Life Action League discusses the 2010 film All Good Things, loosely based on the actual disappearance of Kathleen Durst. The film effectively weaves an underlying story of abortion, showing how it led to the deterioration of a marriage and a woman’s life.

  • Wesley J. Smith shares snippets of his current Weekly Standard article on the coupling of organ donation with euthanasia in Belgium: Coupling organ donation with euthanasia turns a new and dangerous corner by giving the larger society an explicit stake in the deaths of people with seriously disabling or terminal conditions….
[It] creates a strong emotional inducement to suicide, particularly for people who are culturally devalued and depressed and, indeed, who might worry that they are a burden on loved ones and society.
People in such an anguished mental state could easily come to believe (or be persuaded) that asking for euthanasia and organ donation would give a meaning to their deaths that their lives could never have.
  • John Smeaton happily reports the British Medical Association has affirmed the supposedly impartial Lord Falconer’s Commission on Assisted Dying is actually stacked with supporters of euthanasia and assisted suicide, and is partially funded by well-known fantasy author and high-profile assisted suicide campaigner Sir Terry Pratchett. Smeaton states: This motion will help to counter-act the inevitable media propaganda in favour of legalising assisted suicide which will almost certainly follow once Lord Falconer’s fake “commission” issues its report.

Study of pro aborts dilemma...ending stigma of abortion

RH Reality Check  has a post about reducing the stigma surrounding abortions....not only for those who have had abortions, but for those in the industry and supporters/activists. While Ms. Magazine suggests having celebs show public support for abortion and becoming spokespeople for the act, RH Reality asks who will support abortion when there’s so much stigma associated with the procedure?" It is one  thing for a celeb to cast support for PP but notice they always talk about the non abortion part of their business model ...not the A word. It is another thing for them to advocate for abortion.
RH  Reality Check then goes on to recommend a "scholarly" study of the stigma surrounding abortion... so I read it. Gosh I sure hope our  tax $$ did not pay for this but it probably did. Lots of footnotes and initials behind the names who contributed to this abstract but it  had no surprises and as the old ad  said...where's the beef?

I will give you the cliff notes version....
  1. There is a stigma surrounding abortion for those who have had abortions, industry workers and activists.
  2. Why?...because abortion violates a fundamental ideal of womanhood as  the  nurturer of life.
  3. With advances in technology,  we see the humanity of the preborn like never before and lifesaving  care of preterm infants and fetal surgery have made the blob of tissue argument sound ridiculous.
  4. Legal restrictions add to the stigma. People basically do feel that if it is legal it must be okay.  Any legal requirements of waiting periods, mandated ultrasounds, informed consent, restricting late term abortions imply doing something wrong.  They see  the moral stigma as another issue that is "intertwined" pointing out that when abortion was legalized, the cultural/moral  stigma did not automatically go away. That yucky  morality stuff....
  5. Abortion is viewed as dirty and unhealthy
  6. Those pesky pro lifers use stigma as a powerful tool
So what to do....
  1. Abortion needs to come out of the closet . Normalize it  as in "I had an Abortion" T shirts or point out how many women have had abortions...1 out of every 4 by age 40 will have had an abortion. Make it seem mainstream.
  2. Use entertainment the way the gay movement has done  (every sitcom has a sympathetic  gay character.) Sitcoms around abortion....now that's a tough one.
  3. Abortion should be viewed as just another medical procedure. Look at how cancer has been destigmatized ( I guess the  babies are the cancer.)
  4. Learn how to talk about abortion and stop using good/bad words. Stop arguing about  abortions in the cases of rape and incest (hear that  TN Sen. Herron  ) and stop saying how most abortions are done in the first trimester. If abortion is destigmatized the reason and the stage of pregnancy is unimportant. So stop with the safe, legal and rare stuff. Worked for Clinton but that is old hat now.
  5. We have to find ways to train more providers...this is a mainstream medical procedure  remember. The Society of Family Planning and the National Abortion Federation support "cutting edge" (no pun intended, I guess) and  gives  prizes for those who train to become abortionists. They don't say what the prizes are.
  6. Finally, the work of researching abortion stigma must continue even though some abortion supporters think this might cause more stigma, we look forward to more studies and more funding for this work. Ahem! I'll bet you do!

Thoughtful comment rings true...better than the story

Time   had a piece about new  KS  regulations for abortion shops  shutting down two clinics and PP only surviving at the 11th hour. The piece is not newsworthy but as is the case some of  the comments were better than the story.

One from Gregory Butkof of CT struck me as interesting...

"That's one too many.  We constantly hear that women in Saudi Arabia aren't allowed to drive.  This doesn't make sense to us.  But when in Iraq, I was asked by an Iraqi why American women kill their unborn babies.

I really believe that abortion is our national crime.  The sooner it is ended, the better."

Note from  SCA: As someone who travels to Africa annually I can tell you they wonder the same about us.  They usually ask why we kill our babies and we are not even hungry... if they are starving to death, they give the last food to their children but you are not even hungry and you kill your babies in the womb. I have yet to answer their question.
