TN: PP sore loser on RFPs...sues sate over not being selected..

Boy PP sure does not like it when their brand is tarnished but they have only themselves to blame. Bad week for the PP PR machine. First Susan G. Komen drops them and then they decide to sue TN for actually looking at the Request for Proposals RFP's and deciding that other agencies could do a better job of serving Tennesseans. What if every organization decided to sue when they did not receive a grant??

Planned Parenthood of Middle and East TN along with PP of Memphis is suing the state of TN. Something they like to do when they don't get their way. Their beef appears to be that Title X monies was given to other sources to provide services to women and men and not automatically given to PP who enjoyed a  "sweetheart arrangement"  for the past several years. Foul, they cry...!!! It's all politics!! Nope PP is was all politics when you were given preferential treatment. Now when you have to apply ad show results and compete you come up short.

Click to enlarge but don't hold your breath....all the legal gobbledygook means they did not get the Title X money which went to county health departments and in Memphis to Christ Community Health Services. So Tennesseans are not going unserved....they are being better served. But watch out PP can be very vindictive when they don't get their own way.....

Having received millions and millions of tax dollars from Tennesseans over the past 40 years, Planned Parenthood is having a tough time adjusting to their new economic reality, said Brian Harris, president of Tennessee Right to Life.  “But as more and more Americans become aware of the abusive and criminal conduct being documented inside Planned Parenthood’s abortion facilities, many more of us are openly opposing public and private subsidy of this controversial organization,” said Harris.   “Their latest lawsuit is a desperate attempt to win back what they are losing from private donors and public tax payers.”

Memphis PP continues to whine via Commercial Appeal

This woman knows no shame. And why  the Commercial Appeal to continue to use her  to write op eds is a total mystery.

Wendi C. Thomas continues to shill for Planned Parenthood with an op ed decrying the loss of Title X funds to Christ Community Health Care ending with a plea  straight from PP prez Barry Chase  to donate $$ to PP giving them the website and to tell the county commissioners that you are upset and you vote .
She cries real tears because according to Barry Chase, the well paid, prez said that they had to do the following:
"Last week, Planned Parenthood was forced to put up this sign, in English and Spanish, in its waiting room:
"Attention: Shelby County has currently refused to fund our patients for family planning healthcare, which includes birth control and medical services. Please see the front desk staff for the cost of your services. Payment is expected at time of service."
As one commenter said: What a novel idea...paying for services...

CCHS is supposed to take over in early November and PP is claiming that their Title X money is already gone so they are  denying they are referring them early but putting up the sign is not really referring them   according to  Chase who said ..."they have television sets  and read the newspaper so they know that CCHS beat out PP."  Really?? Interesting concept for those who are unable to pay for their own bc services.

It is the Christ in Christ Community Health Services that  so annoys Ms. Thomas. She has nothing good to say about those "evangelicals" who oppose abortion and thinks it is only a matter of time before their faith does not allow for them to violate the law and not refer for abortions.

MemphisPP: refers to CCHS for mammograms

You recall that the well paid 'but I work hard for my $$' PP prez Cecile Richards said on national TV that PP does mammograms . She must have been in make up and missed the memo that PP does not do mammograms.

Enter youth led...Live Action who with their trusty telephone book called around to Planned Parenthood asking the M question. As in can I get a mammogram here... You may also recall that in Memphis Christ Community Health Services beat out PP of Memphis in getting the Title X family planning monies to which local PP prez Barry Chase said...that's not fair. We did not know the standards in the bid process. Of course PP is not used to having standards. But I digress...watch this quick video and Memphis enters at 1:52 saying we do not do mammograms but refers to Christ Community Health Services.....

Memphis: County Commission vote 9-4 with Christ Community over PP for Title X monies

in Tennessee

Commercial Appeal breaks this news. Shelby County Commission votes 9-4 for family planning contract with Christ Community. Wow, before it was 5-5.  Read back story here.
"It’s not clear that the issue is entirely over — Planned Parenthood has a pending bid protest with county government."
The contract focused on family planning, not abortion, but abortion was an underlying issue as commissioners debated in front of dozens of audience members.
“It is about abortion. That’s why so many people are here,” said Jeff Drzycimski, a Catholic deacon and one of several abortion opponents who spoke. “We want our tax dollars not to fund Planned Parenthood, not to fund the killing of children.”
Finally, Title X tax money is now out of Planned Parenthood's hands.  PP still has a 75K grant  from the Centers for Disease Control for HIV testing which was given to them by Shelby County Health Dept.

From Facebook Planned Parenthood of Memphis writes :
"Bad news from Planned Parenthood Greater Memphis Region - the Title X funding they've been receiving for years in order to provide low or no-cost family planning services has been awarded to Christ Community Health Centers - a religiously based provider that won't refer for abortion services OR dispense Emergency Contraception. Anyone feel like we're moving BACK in time? Are we really still arguing about whether women should have access to EC?!? "
Well since the women in Memphis will be served by an organization that has several locations and a reputation for excellence, PP should be satisfied. NO, they feel they should get the $$. They remain concerned that women who become pregnant may receive options counseling that do not prefer abortion services. Many of  these women may actually choose life and wouldn't that be awful. What they really are lamenting is the loss of foot traffic and income that allows them to push their profitable item....abortion. As CCHS stated, everyone knows that PP is where you go for abortions. Note, how PP objects to a religious based organization giving medical and family planning services to the poor. Here is  the mission statement of Christ Community....
Christ Community Health Services has focused on fulfilling the physical, spiritual and emotional needs of the poor, the uninsured and the homeless in Memphis since 1995. Through our strategically placed health care centers and outreach programs, we provide high-quality health care and other services to thousands of patients, caregivers, students and families each year. Our goal is to go where the need is greatest to provide quality services in the name of Jesus Christ.

Memphis Commercial Appeal: Christ Community Health Services...stay in your lane

Memphis Commercial Appeal's  columnist  Wendi C. Thomas uses her platform  to continue carrying  water for Planned Parenthood . You remember her "serious "  column,  such as the infamous duct tape one where she  suggested that Republicans wanted to duct tape women's legs together!?!

She continues  this lofty thinking to her latest column attacking Christ Community  Health Centers in Memphis, who scored higher than her beloved Planned Parenthood in the evaluation process according to independent reviews.

Christ Community operate six medical clinics, a mobile clinic for the homeless and three dental clinics compared to  Planned Parenthood's one. Remember  this is in reference to Title X monies for family planning and not one  cent , per Ms. Thomas is used for abortions.    Yet, it becomes all about abortions. She finds it truly "inexplicable" that anyone could score higher  than  Planned Parenthood who she considers THE  experts.

Planned Parenthood's CEO, Barry Chase, is incensed that Christ Community would give women facing unplanned pregnancies options to consider  other than abortion which to him is the only  $$ option.  Christ Community states that women know that Planned Parenthood is the place to go for abortions but just the idea that they might hear other options is for Chase and Thomas beyond the pale and reason  to be outraged.

While she starts off her column stating by saying...

"I have nothing but respect for the righteous work that Christ Community Health Services does. The workers live their faith by caring for the poor and are irreplaceable."
That seems to be as far as her calm side can go. As her column progresses her feelings  show a hardened side as she turns on those "righteous" people at  Christ Community who   MUST be replaced by the experts at Planned Parenthood.

Consider some of her closing comments. Can you hear the rage? I do note that she posts this at midnight. Maybe her reasonable clock had run out.

"Aside from mean-spirited political and short-sighted religious convictions, there is no reason to give this grant to Christ Community. "

"...there is no place for federal family-planning dollars to go to an evangelical, anti-choice health center. " ( Remember this is about family planning, not abortions, Wendi)
Put more simply, Christ Community should stay in in their lane.

Stay in their lane, Ms. Thomas??  Is that like saying sit in the back of the bus?   I thought they were irreplaceable a few paragraphs up?
Better hide the duct tape....your editors may want to use it on you.

Memphis PP whine continues......

 Whine  alert!

Barry Chase of PP Memphis says  ...IT'S JUST NOT FAIR .....from Commercial Appeal

"Planned Parenthood president and CEO Barry Chase complained about the process. "We just learned what the standards were for comparing the proposals this morning," he said Wednesday."
Ummmm you did not know about standards or you are just not used to caring about standards???  Standards ??? Are we are supposed  to have standards???

In a written statement, Planned Parenthood said it is better equipped for the task than is Christ Community. "This change disrupts the lives of the many women and girls who understand that at (Planned Parenthood) they will receive unbiased, accurate, nonjudgmental, nonreligious health care," the statement reads.
So you don't like people of faith providing care for people even though they do not proselytize?

Christ Community is a Memphis-based organization that operates six medical clinics, a mobile clinic for the homeless and three dental clinics.
PP has one facility......but hey they are better prepared????

CEO Burt Waller said the organization is nondenominational. "Everyone who we encounter, we want to experience the love, compassion, grace and mercy that Christ exhibited. That doesn't mean we expect them to believe what we believe."
He said the group already offers family planning.
Love, compassion, grace and mercy....gosh who would want that ??? At PP  a minor can get thrown under the bus by sexual predators with cash!! Perhaps Christ Community might actually obey the law!! What  a novel approach!!!

Memphis....its not fair and now wants 2nd chance at getting tax $$

Barry Chase CEO can't stop whining and complaining and stomping his feet until he gets his way.

Christ Community Health Services scored higher than Planned Parenthood  in their ability to supply the needed services for family planning and was  awarded the Title X money.  But fair is fair right? Not when it comes to PP.

They convinced the Shelby County Commision to hold off a final decision and give PP another chance to make its case. The vote to give them a 2nd chance was along party line 6-4 with Democrats siding with PP.

Tell us again Barry how you lose $$ on family planning!!

In response, Tennessee Right to Life called on (Governor) Haslam to keep his campaign promise not to fund Planned Parenthood if elected to office. ACTION: Contact the Shelby County Commission "
