Labor Unions should be pro life

 
The cousin of John Riffe who is well known in the organized labor movement.....started organizing labor unions to protect mine workers and eventually became the VP of the Congress of Industrial Organizations (CIO) when it merged with theAFL to form the AFL-CI....author of this article Woodrow Wilcox. He correctly points out that the values they fought for should be applied to the unborn by the unions.

"Respect and value for the lives of the workers was a central theme of the labor union organizing movement.  Respect and value for the lives of unborn babies should be another central theme of the labor union movement today."

"The cause to value the lives of workers and the cause to value the lives of the unborn are allied causes. Each demands respect for human life. That is why I am against giving any labor union political money to any candidate who supports the abortion on demand industry which makes billions of dollars per year to disrespect human life. Coal miners should be protected to have the best chance of leaving a mine safely. And, unborn babies should have the best chance possible to leave their mother’s body safely. Please, join with me to demand that labor union leaders and labor union political money support only candidates who support the protection of workers’ lives and unborn babies’ lives."

TN Congressional 6th district candidate gives non answer on issue of life

Brett  Carter is running as a Democrat for the TN Congressional 6th District against pro life Diane Black on the Republican ticket. Knowing that he is wanting to represent a pro life district he tries the usual two step around the issue of abortion. It is pretty weak answer. Note he cannot say he is pro life but says he is anti abortion  and then gives the opt out that everyone wants to see fewer abortions. Pretty evasive answer.  The article headline says Carter addresses,economic and moral issues at the meeting. I don't think so...when asked about gay marriage, he does not answer but gives this non answer on the issue of life. He is going to have to do better than that......

"Carter was asked about his stance on moral issues, specifically gay marriage and abortion. While he did not address the former, Carter said he is an anti-abortion Democrat.

He said he believes that people, regardless of political affiliation, want to see fewer abortions regardless of the overall differences in opinion, and that’s how he would approach the issue.

However, Carter said he did not intend to allow irreconcilable viewpoints on moral issues to distract him from his focus on the economy.

“I’m not going to be someone who goes to Washington and makes that the principal focus,” Carter said."

Well I would ask Mr. Carter if you are "anti abortion" will your first vote be for pro abortion Pelosi??

Australia" ads for assisted suicide airs on late night TV

A "hard hitting" pro-euthanasia campaign will soon appear on television screens and billboards across Australia.

Dr Philip Nitschke, an advocate of assisted suicide, said the campaign was an Australian first and it was hoped to provoke private introspection as well as a public debate.

"I think its about time we saw increasing pressure being put on the political process to stop sidelining this issue," Dr Nitschke told AAP on Tuesday.

"... If we can engage in some mainstream activities in terms of getting a broad public movement of support, then politicians won't feel as though they are acting in a bizarre way if they were to engage with this issue."

The ads will air on late-night television from Sunday starting in Brisbane with Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide to follow.

Related billboards will also go up "in prominent places around Australia" in a total $60,000 advertising spend.

Dr Nitschke said he was inspired by the ABC Television's spoof marketing program The Gruen Transfer, which recently aired two fake advertisements making a fictional call for mandatory euthanasia.

"We turned it over to the company The Works following their pretty stunning episode in the Gruen Transfer," Dr Nitschke said.

"We were so impressed by what they did we asked them what they thought (about a serious campaign).

"I watched them filming yesterday and I was pretty taken with it ... It's a hard hitting message."

The advertisement portrays an elderly, terminally ill man looking back on the decisions he had made.

Dr Nitschke said he would emphasise how a person had freedom of choice through their life, but not at the end of it.

"He ends up staring into the camera and that message is addressed to politicians - `Why won't you give me this choice?`," Dr Nitschke said.

The campaign was mostly funded by a bequest sent to Dr Nitschke's group Exit International from India.

He said Exit International would undertake related advertising, and also work towards establishing a branch, in India.

"If people want to take strong exception, and rant about it, in a sense that is not necessarily going to do us any harm," Dr Nitschke also said.

"It will get a broader group of people considering the issue and, by and large, the more it is discussed the more common sense prevails."

ACLU has jumped the shark on this one....Right to life for terrorists but not babies!

 I had my second cup of coffee and felt wide awake when I read the headline....

KNIGHT: ACLU says 'Right to life . . . most fundamental of all rights' ...... a conversion?? a misprint......no schizophrenia! Then I read the next line......but only if you are a terrorist....not a baby!

The article in the Washington Times points out the hypocrisy of the ACLU in their latest lawsuit.

 "The American Civil Liberties Union has discovered the right to life. Seriously. The ardently pro-abortion organization declares in its Aug. 30 lawsuit against the Obama administration that the CIA's plan for targeted killings of terrorists violates the terrorists' rights. "The right to life is the most fundamental of all rights," says ACLU lawyer Arthur Spitzer in the complaint, filed in U.S. District Court in Washington."

"By the way, the ACLU's Reproductive Freedom Project page, which celebrates Roe v. Wade,excoriates abstinence-based sex education and hails President Obama's expansion of taxpayer-funded complicity in abortions, does not display the "right to life" phrase. It does have a "Tweet to close Gitmo!" button."

To this I say Tweet to close ACLU.....how ridiculous can they get. They have jumped the shark on this one.

MA:Abortion death trial delayed one week

 I heard the mother of Laura Smith speak and it was powerful. What stuck with me is that the mother saying that after the Dr. released the lifeless body to the ambulance,  he went into the next exam room and did the next abortion. Culture of death.....

BARNSTABLE — The trial of a doctor charged with manslaughter after a patient died following an abortion is scheduled to begin next week in Barnstable Superior Court.
The trial of Dr. Rapin Osathanondh was originally scheduled to being yesterday but was pushed back a week at the request of attorneys, reports the Cape Cod Times. Osathanondh is accused of negligence in the death of Laura Hope Smith(pictured left) 22, of Sandwich. According to documents in a wrongful death civil suit filed by Smith’s mother in 2008, Osathanondh is accused of failing to monitor Smith’s vital signs during and after the abortion procedure.
Osathanondh, whose primary practice was in Brookline, also practiced in Hyannis and lectured at the Harvard Medical School. He resigned his medical license in February 2008 and can no longer practice medicine in Massachusetts

As I reported here, the bill also specifically authorizes the federal funding of human cloning research. And that is a line in the sand we cannot allow to be crossed.  So, if H R 4808 is not amended, expect a concerted effort in the Congress to block it.  It will be an interesting Fall.

4th timester abortion: Woman leaves newborn to die in the trash

A restaurant manager accused of giving birth in a bathroom and leaving her newborn daughter to die in a trash bin allegedly told police she didn’t know she was pregnant. Breanna Gering was charged Tuesday with first-degree reckless homicide and concealing the death of a child. The Journal Times of Racine reports the 23-year-old Franklin woman was given a $50,000 cash bond and a $50,000 signature bond during her initial court appearance.

The complaint says Gering gave birth Aug. 16 at the Perkins in Racine. It alleges she asked a co-worker for three large trash bags and 10 towels. Gering allegedly put a garbage bag containing the infant, her clothing and soiled towels into a trash bin behind the Westgate Mall. Gering later went to a hospital. Doctors determined she had given birth, but she denied it at first. Authorities say the full-term baby was born alive, but died before police found her. Defense attorney Julius Kim calls it ‘a terrible tragedy’.”

No. The real tragedy is that you put me on that jury and I cannot in all good conscience vote to convict her — not as long as we have a majority on the Supreme Court, a majority in both houses of Congress, and a president of the United States of America who believe abortion not only is legal but a right. Lady Justice wants to call this “first-degree reckless homicide”? Save your sanctimony, sister. Most liberals would be OK with an abortion during her contractions. It took how long to get late-term abortion banned? And President Obama is OK with leaving to die babies who survive abortion.

It’s a fourth trimester abortion. Case dismissed. Jury nullification. Mind you, I have absolutely no use to this woman who killed a precious gift from God. In a humane society, she would be tried convicted and hanged the next day.

• ProWomanProLife reports NARAL gives MD an “A” in reproductive rights for late-term abortion, protecting abortionists from legal action, abortions on minors without parental notice, and lack of conscience laws for health care workers. I wonder if that “A” also includes the fact that “MD health officials have ordered two doctors to stop performing abortions after a woman was critically injured during a procedure last month.”
• Culture Campaign informs readers how China has welcomed an abstinence curriculum created by Focus on the Family. A former Chinese secretary general of media remarked, “Abstinence is good for keeping the families steady and bringing down the divorce rate. And it complies with China’s traditional morals.”

• Wesley J. Smith points out how the media romanticizes even murder/suicide situations and makes them into “ads” for assisted suicide. He also notes how the upcoming World Suicide Prevention Day on September 10 seems to send mixed messages.
  The world only seeks to prevent suicide unless one is terminally ill, disabled, elderly and “tired of life,” a disabled baby in the Netherlands/Belgium, or a person seeking “suicide tourism” in Switzerland.
• National Pro-Life Radio shines the light on an abstinence study, yet unreleased by HHS. Many speculate that the reason for the delay is because the results “[do] not support the [Obama] administration’s objective… of eliminating all abstinence-education funding.”

RIP:Joshua (Kulendran Mayandy)

Yesterday afternoon (September 6), Pastor Joshua (Kulendran Mayandy) passed away at the Brampton (Ontario) Civic Hospital.

We mourn his death, yet his death was not in vain.

The death of Joshua Mayandy represents a wake up call for everyone who believes in the equality and dignity of all human life.

Joshua had fluids and nutrition withheld from him based on a cognitive disability that was caused by a heart attack, where he stopped breathing for several minutes.

Joshua was left without IV fluids, nutrition and medication from August 17 until the SDM agreed to have him fed orally on August 28 by a nurse from his Church. At that time, Joshua was not otherwise dying.

Last week Joshua had a seizure, making it impossible to continue feeding him orally.

You need to protect yourself.

The Euthanasia Prevention Coalition has distributed several thousand copies of the Life-Protecting Power of Attorney for Personal Care to protect people from these situations. This is a document that is designed to protect you from being dehydrated to death or denied basic care. Tennessee middle school football coach is looking to the future after his termination for alleged political incorrectness. Twenty-six-year-old Bryan Glover is a Christian who co-wrote a song called “When You’re Holding a Hammer, Everything Looks Like a Nail,” which takes a dig at the current administration and what he believes to be the wrong moves for the U.S. He sent a link to his song to everyone in his personal e-mail inbox, which included parents from Grassland Middle School, where he coached football.
“An hour-and-a-half after sending out the e-mail, I got the phone call from the head coach saying that he had had complaints from parents; he was told to fire me,” the former coach accounts.
He notes that he was surprised by the allegations against him.
“When the coach first called me, he said his phone was blown up with parents saying that I was being politically incorrect — quote, unquote — if you will, and that some of them were even reading into racial overtones in the song,” Glover explains.
But he points out that the lyrics make no direct or indirect reference to race.
The assistant should have had his players chant “Mmm mmm mmm” every day before practice and maybe he’d still have a job.
Franklin, Tennessee is in Williamson County, which in 2008 voted 30% for Obama and 69% for McCain, so it’s possible that the tsunami of outrage, if there was one, was more of a ripple. My guess is the “complaints” were more “why is your assistant football coach spamming my email” in nature.
It’s also possible he violated something in the school’s handbook. You just know a school with a mission statement that begins like this has a really thick handbook:

Grassland Middle School exists to prepare students to be life-long learners and responsible members of society. We accomplish this by providing students an opportunity to engage in an edifying and supportive learning environment and by increasing the protective factors for students while decreasing the known risk factors.

As for the song itself, I’m partial to this line:
“If the stuff hits the fan, don’t look at me,
if you got trouble, blame forty-three.”
