40 Days of Life Nashville hosts special guests....

NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE

While in Nashville to speak at the CareNet national pregnancy center conference, David Bereit, 40 Days for Life’s national director, visited the local 40 Days for Life campaign and brought along other conference speakers, including former Planned Parenthood clinic director Abby Johnson and Rev. Walter Hoye of the National Black Pro-Life Coalition. Upon arriving, they joined an enthusiastic crowd of more than 60 people, including the Survivors youth pro-life team that was passing through Nashville on their way back to California.

Over a year later no action on abortionist brandishing gun at peaceful pro lifers during vigil....

40 Days for Life has just ended and in Nashville  it was  in front of the Women's Center. This place  is one of the most notorious abortion facilities that remains unlicensed, unregulated and uninspected.  Gary Boyle and wife have partial ownership of  three abortion mills,  Bristol, Nashville and Charleston, SC. He was known for successfully suing the TN Dept of Health when they tried to enforce a law that the abortion mills meet the same standards  as other outpatient surgery centers.

I remembered that Boyle had been  arrested in Charleston, SC on 10/2/2010 for brandishing a gun at two adults and one minor who were on the public sidewalk participating in 40 Days.
"According to news reports, Dr. Boyle was arrested October 2 after pointing a loaded gun at pro-life protesters participating in a peaceful vigil in front of his Charleston abortion facility. The handgun held 15 rounds and Dr. Boyle was charged by local police for having illegally pointed the weapon at peaceful protesters.
The incident is similar to one documented by Nashville pro-life advocates earlier this year in which Boyle, brandishing a handgun, got out of his car to confront a pro-life supporter outside The Women’s Center."

I have also followed news reports on how the Obama DOJ was cracking down with a ferociousness on people exercising their right to peaceful protest in front of abortion facilities. In one such case  the court threw out the case and chastised  the Obama DOJ with conspiracy at the highest levels with abortion facilities.
After 18 months of litigation, the DOJ’s case was thrown out of federal court, and the department was chastised for filing a case with no evidence. Federal Judge Kenneth L. Ryskamp stated that Holder’s complete failure to present any evidence of wrongdoing, coupled with the DOJ’s cozy relationship with PWC and their joint failure to preserve video surveillance footage of the alleged “obstruction,” caused the court to suspect a conspiracy at the highest level of the Obama Administration. “The Court is at a loss as to why the Government chose to prosecute this particular case in the first place,” wrote Judge Ryskamp. “The Court can only wonder whether this action was the product of a concerted effort between the Government and PWC, which began well before the date of the incident at issue, to quell Ms. Pine’s activities rather than to vindicate the rights of those allegedly aggrieved by Ms. Pine’s conduct.”
After this ruling the DOJ appealed on the last day possible and gave indication that President Obama ordered the appeal.
While two cases have ended well for the sidewalk counselors and the prayer vigil people there are six more still pending.

So I got to wondering what is happening with the man who brandished a loaded gun at the pro life vigil participants  in Charleston. After his arrest in 10/ 2010, he was promptly released on a $25,000 bond and in January of 2011  his atty appeared on his behalf and the case was continued.

I looked up online and saw that no action following the continuation of over a year ago. I called the office of the Solicitor General, Scarlett Wilson and was promptly handed off to a Press Secretary, Naomi Nation who could give no information of when any further action would be forthcoming referring me instead to a website that tells of upcoming trials. I asked the press secretary  for Solicitor Scarlett Wilson to call me on this question and I await her call on this matter.

I hope the  ferociousness of prosecution is not a one way street.

40 Days for Life gets national publicity....

I saw Laura Ingraham talking about this on Fox and Friends this morning...good publicity. On her blog ...Shut Up and blog.....she has a post about stories that the MSM will not cover. Memphis 40 Days got some publicity. 65 lives saved so far.

MEMPHIS, TENNESSEE

One of the prayer volunteers noticed a man she recognized … sitting in a car in the Planned Parenthood parking lot. With him was his 18-month-old child. Naturally, the volunteer went over to talk.

It seems the man’s wife was inside — setting up an appointment for an abortion. She just didn’t want another baby.

“When he said he didn’t want the abortion,” said Libby in Memphis, “we said he needed to protect his baby right now. He called his wife, and few minutes later she came out and told us she was not going to seek an abortion.”

The volunteers hugged her, and gave her a list of Memphis-area pregnancy resources. One of these prayer volunteers in Memphis was taking part in 40 Days for Life for the first time ever.

“She just felt so strongly that she needed to participate,” Libby said. And what a wonderful thing she saw on that first day!

Canada: Objections to Catholic school allowing community service credits for attending prayer vigil

I often watch what is happening to our neighbors  to the north.

This  article is discussing the appropriateness of a Catholic  school serving grades K-8 of allowing students to earn community service credits for voluntarily  joining  a prayer vigil  connected with what we know as the 40 Days for Life in the US. This movement  prays   in front of an abortion facility  and is peaceful and lawful. They are not blocking or protesting.

The article acknowledges that the Catholic church opposes abortion but some clearly object to the students exercising their faith in this manner. You remember that Canada has abortion on demand with no limitations and most abortions are paid by the tax payer.
"Christ the King is a funded independent school, which means it receives operating grants from the provincial government at 50 per cent of the per-student rate in Louis Riel School Division, in which the school is located."
So some of the tax money funds even private parochial schools and therefore some  abortion advocates are complaining that this prayer vigil is political.  It is interesting that the country that banned hate speech seems to hate any speech that they do not agree with.

Several of the comments to this article trash religious expression, religion in general and the fact that these community service credits may help these students get into public universities which they find objectionable. They are some  vitriolic comments against the praying in front of abortion clinics including picketing Catholic schools. Here is a sample.

"Religious education is pure evil. We should be teaching kids, young adults especially, how to think, not what to think."
Here is a picture of what they find so terrible and objectionable.  Maybe the sign that says Jesus forgives and heals is the most objectionable???

Abortion mill closed again on Friday during 40 Days....

40 Days for Life in Nashville is focusing on the Women's Center one of the most notorious abortion facilities in the state since is is not licensed as an ambulatory surgical treatment center and not inspected and regulated.  This past Friday for the second Friday in a row, the usually busy day at this facility was empty accept for two worker's cars. Did the abortionist not show up? Was business just down? Or do prayers work. You be the judge.  Check out 40 Days for Life/Nashville and get involved.

Memphis PP sends out the alarm....people are praying.....

Memphis Planned Parenthood posts on Facebook......
www.plannedparenthood.org
The picketers are here again, too. These protesters, organized by 40 Days for Life, began picketing our Health Abortion Center this morning and will continue through November 6th. These demonstrations are intended to intimidate our patients and staff, and disrupt our much-needed services.

INTIMIDATION ALERT
I went over to the pictures of 40 Days for Life....a peaceful prayer vigil in the public sidewalk outside of Planned Parenthood. Shriek!! Intimidation, disruption at work!!

Too pro life....don't pray outside abortion clinics...what is going on in the Catholic Church???

Okay, what is going on here? First the uproar over Father Pavone of Priests for Life being called back to TX by his bishop. The latest is that a letter has been released stating he is in good standing with the church and is not accused of ANYTHING! He is just too well known, too independent and is needed by in Amaarillo. Are you kidding me?? Jill Stanek covers the breaking story with updates by the hour.

Now from Spokanne WA, Bishop Blase J. Cupich as reported by LifeSite News is asking his priests not to pray outside of abortion clinics. 40 Days for Life which is slated to start in a few weeks relies heavily on parishioners being able to recruit church members following services.

A Catholic commentator writes on his blog

Bishop Cupich has informed all of his priests and seminarians that they cannot:
- pray outside of Planned Parenthood
- promote or organize peaceful protest outside Planned Parenthood in their parishes (naming 40 Days for Life specifically)
- or allow pro-life material to be distributed in their parishes unless it is published by the Washington State Conference of Catholic Bishops or the USCCB--who, ironically, support 40 DFL.

This information came to us directly from multiple Spokane priests. We were also told by these priests that Bishop Cupich identifies himself as pro-life, but disagrees with the "tactic" of praying outside of abortion clinics. The reason he gave for his decision is that he does not want his priests being identified with "extreme" pro-life persons.

We know you all understand the great concern that comes when a bishop is 1) not overtly supportive of pro-life activities and 2) will not allow his priests to fight for the pro-life cause by praying and giving witness to the sanctity of human life outside of Planned Parenthood.
Now the Bishop of Spokanne is traveling  and unavailable after dropping this bombshell as is the Bishop of Amarillo who called in Father Pavonne for being too well known  and then goes on vacation until the end of the month.

I have been invited to speak to a Diocesan Council of Catholic Women  in a week to encourage participation in 40 Days for Life. While 40 Days is not an exclusively Catholic event they have always been the most faithful participants. I am sure many are asking....what is going on here?? With friends like this..who need enemies.

Lisa Graas: IRS Questions Pro-Life Organization Over Involvement with ’40 Days for Life’ and ‘Life Chain’

IRS Questions Pro-Life Organization Over Involvement with ’40 Days for Life’ and ‘Life Chain’

The Thomas More Society is defending pro-lifers against the thought police at the IRS. Thank God for the Thomas More Society.
Sugar Land, TX, April 13, 2011 — The Thomas More Society issued a letter response to the Internal Revenue Service, contending that the IRS’ repeated requests for information about the viewpoint and content of the communications, prayer vigils, and other activities of “Christian Voices for Life” violate the group’s First Amendment rights. In its demand letters, the IRS has sought to know whether the group does “education on both sides of the issues,” whether members of the group “try to block people to [sic] enter a … medical clinic” during “40 Days for Life” and “Life Chain” events, whether members of the group “attempt to talk to someone trying to enter a medical clinic,” and to “please explain what you are [doing] during” 40 Days for Life and Life Chain vigils.
“The application of Christian Voices for Life clearly indicates that the organization qualifies as a charitable organization under section 501(c)(3),” stated Thomas More Society executive director and legal counsel Peter Breen. “These requests suggest that the IRS may be denying or delaying tax-exempt status based upon the organization’s pro-life message, rather than any legitimate exemption concern. Moreover, the implication in these questions that Christian Voices for Life somehow intends to engage in illegal activity is insulting.”
Christian Voices for Life is a small charitable organization based in Fort Bend County, Texas, and dedicated to promoting a culture of life through education, prayer and other ministry activities. Its funds go almost entirely to education and the “advancement of religious beliefs,” expenditure categories which the Internal Revenue Code recognizes as appropriate for a public charity. The organization’s activities consist of posting factual information on its website, making speakers available who similarly rely on and speak about fact-based information and positions, and holding prayer vigils and peaceable assemblies that demonstrate Christian compassion and love.
The letter response, which was drafted by Thomas More Society special counsel Sally Wagenmaker, highlights IRS regulations that it must take a position of “disinterested neutrality” with respect to the viewpoint advocated by an organization and cannot force an organization to take a position against its beliefs in order to provide “both sides.” The response also states that the organization more than adequately follows the law in the activities it conducts.

Memphis: Couple changes mind on abortion but PP wants $100 for visit...

40 Days for Life reports....a save and PP says you still owe us $100.....

MEMPHIS, TENNESSEE
——————————————————-
A young couple had arrived for an appointment at Planned Parenthood in Memphis. On their way into the building, they declined to talk. But a little while later, the man walked outside.
This time, one of the counselors was able to strike up a conversation. He confirmed that the young woman was there for an abortion. The counselor gave him information about resources that are available in Memphis. He thanked her and went back inside.
Less than ten minutes later, the couple walked out of Planned Parenthood. The young man raised his arms, smiled and exclaimed, “We’re not going to do it!”
The vigil participants waved as the couple drove off. But then they made a quick stop and circled back into the parking lot. It seems they’d gotten a phone call from Planned Parenthood. They may have called off the abortion, but they still owed $100 for the clinic visit!
That should tell you something about Planned Parenthood.
“But this did not dampen the young father’s spirits,” said Kerry in Memphis. “Before he drove off again, he gave two thumbs-up to the vigil-goers.”

Update: Boyle in Nashville instead of hearing......Hearing set for dr. who flashed gun at 40 Days for Life prayer vigil ......runs abortion mills in TN and SC

Update: Thursday, January 13, 2011.....so where is the good dr. right now when he is supposed to be at his preliminary hearing in Charleston SC????? Where's Gary...prayer advocates report that he is at his Nashville abortion facility  on Welshwood  at the  time of his reported hearing in South Carolina. Reporter in SC reports that the hearing was continued.....Boyle is a busy man don't you know.

Hearing is set for tomorrow for the dr. who flashed a gun at  the 40 Days for Life people doing a prayer vigil in front of his abortion mill in Charleston SC. We have written about him before here and here. This is the dr. who runs abortion mills in TN and SC and has been in trouble with the law in the past. Although MSM like to portray the people on the public sidewalk outside his clinics as protesters, they actually were peaceful law abiding people praying for 40 Days for Life. Of course many see prayers as being a dangerous  thing as in watch that lady, she is holding a rosary in her hands...
Pix above is the Women's Center in Nashville...one of the most notorious abortion mills he owns.
He got into a scrape with the law with this mill for operating without a required certificate of need from the Health Dept. The Health Dept. attempted to shut them down but with the liberal judges and ACLU he is still in business there he is up and running as a judge ruled that to make him abide by the rules other ambulatory surgical treatment centers do is a violation of a woman's right to privacy.

Anita's van: lives and van saved! 40 Days shares heartwarming faith story.....

From 40 Days for Life.....a heartwarming faith story.....

And then there’s Anita’s van — a life-saver on wheels. It has “pray to end abortion” painted on the side, along with a pregnancy help center’s phone number and the 40 Days for Life web address.

Lives have been saved because of the information on the van — no one knows how many. But this pro-life mission was about to come to an end. The van was about to be repossessed.
Anita had no idea what would happen. So she prayed. She had to decide whether to pay her tithe … or the note on the van. She paid her tithe.
Anita didn’t know it, but one of her friends sent out an e-mail that explained the situation. And people started giving. Before long, there was enough to pay off the loan!
“This is not my van,” she said. “This van belongs first and foremost to God, and then to every single pro-life person out there.”
The van — and its message — will stay on the road. And who knows how many lives will be saved?
“Abortion will truly be finished one day,” Anita said. “I pray it is very soon. The walls of deception are crumbling as we speak. The truth is spreading — one heart at a time — and all of you have played a part in getting that message out. Thank you all so very much!”

Nashville: 40 Days of Life Fall 2010

Thank you to Marilyn Cox, faithful prayer warrior who organized this event. The event team included Lynn Chaffin,Ann Sappenfield, Teresa Dean and Deacon Sam Francescon. This year they concentrated on The Women's Center on Welshwood, a notorious unlicensed, uninspected and unregulated abortion mill.

TN Dr. flies to SC for work at abortion mill...flashes gun at 40 Days for Life

From the last paragraph.....see how they work. They operate abortion mills without going through the required procedures of getting a certificate of need and therefore not subject to inspections from the dept. of health. They, with the aid of ACLU, hide behind the perceived "right to privacy" to say that they are not required to get this certificate like every other healthcare facility....when you do abortions, you are special. They care so much about women they don't want to be inspected...trust us we are safe and clean....ha!
Then this despicable  dr. flies to near by states to ply his trade. Would you want this man (Boyle pictured left ) operating on you??

"The incident wasn't the doctor's first legal snag. He and his partner operated their clinic without a required certificate of need from the Tennessee Health Department for several years in the 1990s, and the health department tried to shut them down, according to court filings. The dispute dragged on for years until 2002, when an appeals judge ruled that the state statute requiring the certificate had violated a woman's right to privacy."
The Post and Courier Sunday,

CHARLESTON - For the past 11 days, anti-abortion demonstrators have gathered at the Charleston Women's Medical Center in West Ashley as part of the annual "40 Days for Life" movement against abortion, each of them signing a "statement of peace" before participating. Police say the protest met a threat Saturday morning when an out-of-state abortion doctor flashed a gun at them. Boyle Police arrested Gary Boyle, 62, a Blountville, Tenn., physician, on charges of pointing a firearm. Boyle drove into the parking lot of the clinic on Ashley River Road near Fuseler Road at around 8:30 a.m. When three protesters, including a 17-year-old boy, approached him, Boyle brandished a black handgun loaded with 15 rounds, according to a police report. Boyle then stepped out of his SUV and walked into the clinic without further incident, the report says. One of the three protesters, 50-year-old John Karafa, called 911. "We were like, 'Well, that was a gun,' " Karafa said. "You can't do that." Boyle appeared by video conference at a bond hearing Saturday afternoon dressed in a light yellow button-down shirt. Charleston County Magistrate Priscilla Baldwin set his bail at $25,000, which he posted later Saturday. Whether Boyle performed abortions locally is not known. He and another physician operate the Bristol Regional Women's Center near his Tennessee home. A woman who came to the courtroom on Boyle's behalf declined to speak during the proceedings and ignored requests for comment after the hearing. More than a half-dozen anti- abortion demonstrators also attended the proceedings, many wearing light blue "40 Days for Life" wrist bands. Protesters began gathering outside the West Ashley clinic on Sept. 22 and will hold a prayer vigil against abortion there 24 hours a day, every day, until Oct. 31. Charleston Women's Medical Center representatives could not be reached for comment through the after-hours phone line. Tom Barber, local director of "40 Days for Life," said Saturday marked the first disturbance in its three-year history locally, which he said includes holding hands and lighting candles but not harassing doctors or patients. Barber said participants must sign a "statement of peace" before joining. Barber's sister, Sandra Rochester, said members of the vigil hand out literature to women who engage them. The pamphlets direct those patients to the Lowcountry Pregnancy Center, a Christian organization that counsels women and encourages alternatives to abortion. "We've saved four babies so far," Rochester said. Of the three protesters who approached Boyle, only Karafa represented the "40 Days" movement. The Charleston Women's Medical Center attracts anti-abortion demonstrators every Saturday, and about 15 people had come out to protest when Boyle allegedly brandished the gun.

The incident wasn't the doctor's first legal snag. He and his partner operated their clinic without a required certificate of need from the Tennessee Health Department for several years in the 1990s, and the health department tried to shut them down, according to court filings. The dispute dragged on for years until 2002, when an appeals judge ruled that the state statute requiring the certificate had violated a woman's right to privacy.

Who says God doesn't have a sense of humor?

From 40 Days for Life.com
Mike Stack,
40 Days for Life leader in Southfield, Michigan, reports:
A week or so ago we got word that the office manager at the Womancare Abortion facility where we have been holding the Southfield 40 Days for Life vigils quit her job.
A few of the prayer warriors during the Spring campaign had befriended her and found out that she really didn’t like working there but felt trapped and unable to find another job. One of the prayer warriors, Christine, arranged to get her resume and did a professional upgrade for her.
We put the word out to our prayer warriors and a couple months later Casey found a new job and has happily quit working for the abortion facility.
A couple days ago I learned that Christine befriended the office manager the day a car drove in the ditch.

During the night shift at the 40 Days for Life vigil (about 2 AM) a car pulled off the main road and into the ditch next to the abortion facility. The prayer warrior at the time (Mike) did what he could to help the man including lending him his cell phone (to call a tow truck).
It wasn’t too long before the Police were there too and when Mike turned to the driver to get his cell phone back the guy was gone. This guy did not want to interact with the police and took off on foot (with Mike’s cell phone).
In was a interesting story at the time, we had some good laughs about it but all felt bad for Mike losing his phone. Mike took it in stride and now feels it was well worth losing the phone when he found out how God used this event.
Christine was showing up for her vigil hour about the same time the office manager showed up for work that morning. They both were drawn to the odd site of the car in the ditch and started up a casual conversation that led to a more serious one — and eventually a new job for the office manager. Praise God!

HIllary Clinton's doctor is sole abortion provider in AR

This is also Hillary Clinton's doctor. I have a video of this man talking about abortion and he calls it a blessing!

In Fayetteville, Arkansas, William Harrison — the abortionist who had said praying for an end to abortion is “silly” — now has a huge sign outside his building:

“Never has he ever had the word ‘abortion’ visible on his property. He has often bragged about no one knowing what he is doing,” said Debbie in Fayetteville. “Now they’ll all know what he is doing.”

Former Clinton OB GYN who is now an abortionist thanks prayer warriors for free advertising

AR-based abortionist (and former OB/GYN to Hillary Clinton) William Harrison (pictured below left) 40 Days for Life participants thanking them for protesting because he thinks it will show people where they can get an abortion:

Harrison wrote an email to the organizers of the protest, saying they're more than welcome to demonstrate because it'll show their children and newcomers where to get an abortion.
WilliamHarrison-ABC News.jpg
"You know, we have a lot of new people in the area. And since we don't do any advertising, a lot of people don't know the services that we offer. So I am glad they're over there," said Harrison. And he admits he even joked around in the e-mail, telling them to look serious and to bring priests along, or else it'll deliver the wrong message.
