Minnesota Citizens Concerned for Life discusses a newly released study using “detailed medical records from Denmark” which shows that women face a higher risk of death from abortion than childbirth.
Bryan Kemper writes about the heartbreaking experience of losing a son to miscarriage two years ago, and his disappointment at the unsympathetic response (“it’s just a miscarriage”) of his pro-life church:

ProWomanProLife points to statistics showing the Canadian population is aging and has been suffering a “birth dearth” since 1971, with abortion as a major contributing factor. A recent study showed “if every aborted baby had been born in 2006, 2009 and 2010, a replacement fertility rate would have been reached or surpassed. In 2007 and 2008, the same would bring the birthrate within a hair’s breadth of replacement rate.”
Secular ProLife says pro-life internships are available with both Feminists for Life and National Right to Life.
At Stand for Life, Bud Shaver discusses “the butterfly effect” of abortion on society. If, as the Talmud says, “Whoever destroys a soul, it is considered as if he destroyed an entire world. And whoever saves a life, it is considered as if he saved an entire world,” then how much chaos might be wrought by more than 55 million abortions?

• Americans United for Life has filed two briefs supporting the conscience rights of Hobby Lobby and Autocam against the HHS contraceptive mandate:
  
  The briefs… demonstrate that “emergency contraception,” life-ending drugs mislabeled as “contraception,” can prevent an embryo from implanting or kill an already-implanted embryo, and that forcing employers to provide coverage for such drugs violates the fundamental freedom of conscience.

• Jivin J finds some enlightening information on newly elected NARAL president, Ilyse Hogue (pictured left). After an arrest in 1999, Hogue shared a cell with a “witch” named Star Hawk, says the LA Times:
  
  Fans praised her talent at using ancient pagan rituals, such as the spiral dance, to impart to the disparate group a feeling of unity, “the sense that we are all part of each other,” according to Ilyse Hogue, one of the protesters.
  Hogue, of San Francisco, recalled that she and Star Hawk were arrested at the World Trade Organization melee in Seattle and landed in the same cell. The witch, Hogue said, buoyed everyone’s spirits in jail by “recognizing that the Earth has its own energy” and tapping into it to build human solidarity.
  Remind me… which side is supposedly “anti-science”?
• At The Guiding Star Project, links the idea of carrying a child in the womb to the largely feminine desire to externally prepare homes and spheres of influence, calling it “wombing”:
  
  Do you see the parallel? Our bodies are designed to “make comfortable” a little visitor for nine months. Our bodies “set up house” and provide everything for a little life to thrive. So too do we have a tendency to do the same thing externally – outside of our bodies, in our sphere of influence.
• Fletcher Armstrong says a grant has been provided to bring Life Training Institute’s amazing speakers to U.S. Christian high schools at no cost. According to Armstrong, this is the “best pro-life apologetics training on the planet.”

• Coming Home writes that despite the pro-life movement’s internal conflicts, the incremental approach to pro-life legislation was supported by Pope John Paul II in his 1995 Encyclical, Evangelium Vitae.
• Bound4Life praises Alabama’s Women’s Health and Safety Bill, which moved successfully through the AL House and now goes on to their state Senate. The bill would put regulations on who can perform abortions, on complying with building codes, and on mandated reporting of possible statutory rape, among other things.
• Clinic Quotes says that according to a 1984 report from the US Department of Health and Human Services, “there [was] a 300% increase in ectopic pregnancy in 10 years after abortion was legalized. In 1970 the incidence was 4.8 per thousand births, by 1980 had risen to 14.5 per thousand births.”
• Generations for Life links to an article by Dr. Michael New on why pro-lifers need to be comfortable discussing and advocating for chastity. New writes:
  
  The best predictor of someone’s attitude toward abortion is his or her opinion on the morality of premarital sex. People who think that premarital sex is morally acceptable are very likely to be pro-choice….
  I always remind pro-lifers that a promiscuous society will never support significant restrictions on abortion. While pro-lifers are good at talking about fetal development and personal responsibility, we are less comfortable with subjects such as sexual activity and contraception.

Women’s Rights Without Frontiers reports on a tragedy in China where a toddler was run over by a van when family planning officials attempted to collect a fine from the child’s family. Because of great protest in the village, the officials have been arrested. WRWF president Reggie Littlejohn encourages pro-lifers to keep shining the spotlight on this, and other, human rights violations:



Our hearts break to learn of the violent death of an innocent child, and we extend our deepest sympathy to his parents. Those responsible for this violent death must be held accountable. Too often, under the glare of international scrutiny, the Chinese Communist Party will arrest officials who have committed a heinous human rights violation. Then as soon as the attention of the world shifts away, these same officials are restored to their former positions or even promoted.



Suzy B states that despite New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s efforts to expand abortion access in the state (despite their already high abortion rate), a recent survey shows New Yorkerssupport greater restrictions on abortion. Of note, 78% believe there is already sufficient access; 75% oppose Cuomo’s idea to allow non-physicians to perform abortions; 92% oppose sex-selective late-term abortions; and more than 3/4 surveyed believe in greater information on women’s other options, waiting periods, more clinic regulation, and parental notification.
Secular ProLife has three of their members featured in a MORE Magazinearticle on “women who changed their positions on abortion.” Featured are perspectives from a Muslim, an atheist, and a “spiritual but not religious” post-abortive woman.
ProLife NZ pens an open letter in response to Ann Furedi, chief executive of the British Pregnancy Advisory Service, who recently “label[ed] disability ‘tragic’ whilst endorsing disability selective abortion up until birth… revealing her discriminatory attitude towards the disabled.”
Michael New asserts that despite the blame laid at the feet of the pro-life movement, it is contraception (and subsequently, premarital sex) which bears greater responsibility for the increase in unintended pregnancies and single parent households in the U.S.
At the LTI Blog, Scott Klusendorf highly recommends Prof. Hadley Arkes’ new book, Natural Rights and the Right to Choose, which Klusendorf says raises questions such as, “Where do basic human rights come from? Do they come only from government or are they rooted in something that transcends government? What is man? Is human nature fixed or does raw political power determine who is and is not a human being?”

• Abstinence Clearinghouse links to a Centers for Disease Control article that shows 20% of teenage girls binge drink (4+ drinks, at least 3 times weekly), which “can lead to serious health risks including… sexually transmitted diseases and unintended pregnancy.”
• At Ethika Politika, Dr. Jacqueline Harvey wonders whether pro-choice opposition to accurate abortion data is indicative of “arrogance, apathy, or fear.” She notes the need for published abortion statistics to be accurate in order to form evidence-based conclusions (as opposed to agenda-driven ones) about the effectiveness of contraception and sex education.

Pro-Life Action League has filed a formal complaint demanding an investigation into the death of 24-year-old Tonya Reaves at Chicago Planned Parenthood clinic:



While normally, such violations of professional medical standards would be reported to the Illinois Department of Public Health, all Illinois Planned Parenthood facilities are unlicensed. As a result, any investigation relating to sub-standard medical care on their part is entrusted to [theIllinois Department of Professional Regulation].
Reproductive Research Audit points out the flaws in a so-called study which California is attempting to use to overturn a law requiring that only physicians perform abortions. Though the study claims risks to women would be “minimal,” RRA found otherwise:



Using the sample and the number of complications provided, RRA found that non-physician abortions were twice as likely to experience a complication, and one additional woman per seventy-five women would have an adverse effect if medical standards were lowered.



Secular ProLife encourages pro-lifers on Facebook to support a secular social media campaign (graphic pictured left) to correspond with the prayer-based event, 40 Days for Life.
John Smeaton expresses gratefulness to the resigningPope Benedict XVI for linking the defense of marriage with protecting life.
At the LTI Blog, Scott Klusendorf explains why pro-life Protestants should be interested in the election of the new Pope.
Real Choice writes of a previously undiscovered 1995 death at Family Planning Associates Medical Group in California, in which a 21-year-old was given too much anesthetic. While the patient’s friend waited for hours on site, clinic personnel neglected to alert him to the fact that the patient had been transferred to a hospital where she later died.


So far, 15 deaths at this facility have been uncovered, from 1970-2004.
At Live Action, Nancy Flanders responds to a profane Jezebel blog which discusses the “best age to abort,” settling on age 25. Of course, for the pro-choice crowd, abortion is not a serious subject. Flanders writes:



… [Blogger Erin Gloria] Ryan says that women are more likely to be financially stable at this age and still very fertile and therefore don’t have much to lose by having an abortion. She says that since the average age of marriage is now 27, women should be all set to abort any children at age 25 because in the next two years they will likely find a life partner and still have time to get pregnant. So it’s okay to toss this baby aside.


Of course, she notes, “it’s more emotional to abort when you know the guy’s last name.” So, women, Ryan’s advice is to engage only in casual sex with strangers until you’re ready to be married. Only then, she believes, should you attempt a real relationship with a man; otherwise, you risk letting any baby you create live, and that would ruin your life.
Reflections of a Paralytic reports that Malala Yousufzai, the brave young woman who was shot in the head by the Taliban for seeking an education, has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize:



American feminists take note: this is what a real “war on women” looks like. Not the supposed threat of limited access to abortion and birth control. In fact, our foremothers in the battle for women’s equality here in the United States — women like Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton — abhorred abortion.

Prenatal tests are search and destroy missions and in this case they destroyed two....

  This is another reason I hate those "search and destroy" tests called prenatal tests which is not done on women of all ages during pregnancy. A young lady at church recently asked for prayer for upcoming   ultrasound and prenatal tests. This was her first pregnancy. I went and talked to her and asked her to call me when the tests were done to let me know what they were. Since she felt free to share this prayer request with the church, I felt safe to ask her to do that. I did not want to get into it too much with her at this stage,  but mentioned that there are a large number of false positive tests and although I was sure everything would be fine, to please let me know right away. If she got bad news I wanted her not to be rushed into an emotional decision that she would regret. The news turned out to be positive.

     What is the point of these tests? To find out that perhaps the baby she was carrying was less than perfect?? And to destroy.... and in this case the mother was destroyed with her daughter. Why on earth anyone would take their wife/daughter to a Carhart facility is beyond me. But then they probably thought like so many others that these places were safe as in the safe and legal mantra.  

As I write this I cringe remembering that 19 years ago I took my own daughter to a facility that I presumed was safe since it was open. Now I know that facility is not regulated, inspected or licensed by the DOH.  That God my daughter had more courage than me and my grandson graduates from high school this year.

BREAKING: Carhart’s victims identified

I did not report on the death last week of a patient of late-term abortionist LeRoy Carhart because I did not have corroboration.
I now do.
Carhart’s alleged victims were 29-year-old Jennifer McKenna Morbelli, pictured right, and her 33-week-old preborn daughter, Madison Leigh. Read their obituary here.
My sincere sympathies go to Jennifer and Madison’s family, who is certainly suffering unimaginable grief.
I confirmed the identities of the victims through two sources. After a name ID was received from an impeccable informant, sidewalk counselors at the abortion clinic positively identified Jennifer’s obituary photo. Jennifer’s obituary also states she “passed away suddenly.”
Following is the information and timeline pieced together through those and other sources. Operation Rescue’s Cheryl Sullenger is to be commended for her work exposing this terrible tragedy.
Jennifer was married and a kindergarten teacher at Church Street Elementary School in White Plains, New York. Jennifer was carrying a wanted baby. At present her registry is still online. Very sad to view.
Approximately two weeks ago Jennifer learned her daughter suffered from fetal anomalies.
Jennifer, her husband, her parents, and her sister traveled to Carhart’s late-term Germantown Reproductive Health Services abortion clinic in Germantown, Maryland, last weekend.
Carhart began the abortion process on Sunday, February 3, in the afternoon, according to sidewalk counselors who maintain a constant presence at the clinic when it is open. They noted Jennifer appeared “very” late-term.
According to those counselors, Sunday is when Carhart kills late-term babies by lethal injection into the heart through the mothers’ abdominal wall.
Jennifer and her family returned on Monday, presumably to begin the labor induction process by insertion of laminaria or prostaglandins to dilate the cervix, and again on Tuesday.
They likely spent each night at a nearby hotel, as is the usual process for a multi-day, late-term abortion at Carhart’s Germantown clinic.
Each day sidewalk counselors noted in real-time annotations that Jennifer appeared more and more pale.
The family returned again on Wednesday, presumably for the delivery of Jennifer’s dead baby Madison, staying nine hours, an extraordinary length of time. They left at 4:35 p.m.
Carhart and his wife Mary Lou left soon afterward. The two typically fly out on Wednesday afternoons to either Indianapolis, Indiana, or Bellevue, Nebraska, to commit abortions on Thursdays. Carhart is what’s known as a “circuit rider” abortionist.
At approximately 5:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 7, Jennifer presented at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital in Rockville, Maryland, which is almost nine miles from Carhart’s clinic.
Family members told hospital personnel they had tried to reach Carhart several times, but he did not return their calls.
At approximately 9:00 a.m. Jennifer coded. She coded a total of six times before she was pronounced dead at about 10:00 a.m.
It was during this time Carhart called the hospital. He never showed up.
A medical examiner was called due to the unusual circumstance of an otherwise healthy 29-year-old suddenly dying. The examiner spend 4-1/2 hours with the patient’s chart. The Washington Post reported yesterday that both the medical examiner and Montgomery County Police Department are conducting an investigation.

It is not known whether the State of Maryland will close down Carhart’s mill pending these and other investigations. In November 2012 the state enacted abortion clinic regulations. Ironically, the day before Morbelli died the state licensed 17 abortion clinics, including Carhart’s, but without ever inspecting them.

LeRoy Carhart is likely the most prominent abortionist in America.
Carhart was the plaintiff in two U.S. Supreme Court cases, Stenberg v. Carhart in 2000, which he won and which forced the State of Nebraska to overturn its ban against partial birth abortions; and Gonzales v. Carhart in 2007, which he lost and which allowed the federal Partial-Birth Abortion Ban to stand.

Carhart is also one of four abortionists, pictured above, featured in the new documentary, After Tiller, which just received rave reviews at the Sundance Film Festival. That documentary’s credibility has now gone up in smoke.
Jennifer and her family came to Carhart for help, albeit misguided, and he destroyed them.

• Our newest blog, Clinic Quotes, shows the anti-adoption mentality of the abortion industry from a pamphlet distributed by Rocky Mountain Planned Parenthood in 1985, which reads:
  
  But aren’t there alternatives to abortion? Yes, there are. A pregnant women can carry the baby to term and she can then keep it or relinquish the baby for adoption. Relinquishment is often not a very humane procedure.
• Down on the Pharm explains why abortion statistics gleaned from abortionists should be viewed with great skepticism.
• Michael New discusses the lack of consistent abortion reporting standards in the U.S. Some states have not reported abortion data to the Centers for Disease Control since 1997.

• Live Action News reports on Planned Parenthood’s total indifference to sex-selective abortions and female gendercide in the United States.
• Euthanasia Prevention Coalition shares the lament of a son who lost his mother to assisted suicide without her family being notified or consulted. The woman suffered from chronic depression.
• Americans United for Life notes that while “big abortion” has a strong foothold nationally, pro-life legislation is poised and ready at the state level.
• Judie Brown calls out the US Conference of Catholic Bishops for their lack of leadership on life issues:
  
  The absence of logic and common sense in [President Obama's Sandy Hook tragedy] statement [regarding "caring for our children"] does not affect the majority of Americans one way or the other…. [T]he United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, which was quick to call for the regulation of firearms after the Sandy Hook massacre… hesitate[d] to reprimand Obama for his impudence on the question of abortion.
  … Where is their leadership, their collective voice, their capacity to rally the troops and change the culture? Considering the bishops’ near silence in this 40-year-war, these are legitimate questions.
  
• Bound4Life says that despite the life-affirming Huggies video featured below, owner company Kimberly-Clark may not be so squeaky clean:
  
  I thought that since Huggies acknowledged life in the womb they might advocate preserving life at every stage. I wanted to do all I could to promote them and this message, so I began to research them. What I found was startling. Huggies is a brand of Kimberly-Clark. Kimberly-Clark partners with Girls for a Change which was partially founded by Planned Parenthood.
  The same mouth that acknowledges life advocates killing it in the name of choice and “girl power.”
  
  
  

For the abortion industry in TN less information is better....

Save One Founder and Executive Director, Sheila Harper, is interviewed about her thoughts on the viewing of an ultrasound and her personal experience  with abortion.   She articulates the issue well to this Channel 2 reporter.

 However, due  to the disastrous ruling of  our  TN  Supreme Court in 2000, in a law suit brought by ACLU and Planned Parenthood against  the state , commonsense regulations voted into law by our elected bipartisan legislators were thrown out . In order to correct this egregious ruling a constitutional amendment called SJR 127 which states   that our state constitution,  originally written in 1796, did not speak to  issue of abortion. It further states that our elected legislators have the right and duty to enact regulations around abortion which is legal through the US Supreme Court decision of 1973. I know sounds so commonsense as to be ridiculous,  but the strange ruling of 2000 found that TN has a greater right to abortion than was  found in the   US Supreme Court decision known as Roe Vs. Wade. Read the constitution and try to find the word abortion.  All that to say..... in 2014, Tennesseans must pass this amendment  during the Gubernatorial  election so we can enact regulations voted on by our elected legislators such as informed consent, reflection periods etc.

However, Harper and Senator Jim Tracy are discussing a bill that would  then give women important information before they make a decision that is final. Watch the abortion industry object loudly using talking  points like privacy that do not address the fact that they really object to women have medically accurate information including the viewing of their ultrasound  and a time to consider this step before making a life altering decision.  It adds up to lost revenue and abortions are a very lucrative profession.

• At ProWomanProLife, Andrea Mrozek includes a clip of her interview with conservative Canadian media personality Ezra Levant regarding live birth abortions taking place in Canada. Live birth abortion, while only recently coming to light in Canada, was made public in the U.S. years ago by our own Jill Stanek, resulting in the passing of the Born Alive Infants Protection Act.

• Right to Life of Michigan points out that the majority of Americans lack accurate knowledge of Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton – two cases that shape our country’s current abortion law.

• Suzy B notes the latest example of Obamacare’s coercive tactics and restrictions on federal grants:
  
  Recently the North Dakota State University froze a $1.2 million federal grant it had received because the grant requires the university to team up with Planned Parenthood, America’s largest abortion provider, to implement a sex education program under Obamacare. University officials are concerned that accepting the grant could potentially be a violation of state law, which forbids taxpayer funding of abortion businesses such as Planned Parenthood.
  Now, Planned Parenthood and their allies are attacking the University for freezing the grant.

• Reproductive Research Audit has a weekly round-up of articles on reproductive health issues, including two which prove that even in matters of abortion reporting, there is no common ground between the pro-choice and pro-life camps.
• Voice for Life shares an excellent speech by Serrin Foster of Feminists for Life on the feminist case against abortion.

Objections to informed consent bill acknowledges women know they are pregnant with an "actual human life."

Well  it appears that the abortion friendlies are abandoning their  'it's just a clump of cells' verbiage in this article written in the Nashville Scene  and promoted by Planned Parenthood on Facebook. . They were complaining about a bill filed in the TN state senate  by Senator Jim Tracy (R) Shelbyville.

"When you read SB0632, it becomes obvious that the bill is premised on the idea that if you're having an abortion, it must be because you don't know you're pregnant with an actual human life."

Wow, they are acknowledging that you are pregnant with a human life...not a clump of cells!!!!

This is in response to a bill  offering women presenting for an abortion the opportunity to view the  trans-abdominal ultrasound and receive a printed copy of the ultrasound. It also states that fetal information be explained in understandable lay terms and  to hear the heartbeat. Shriek!!!!!

Of course the abortion industry opposes giving women this information and further insults women by stating that ......"We Americans are a fat people."

Because of this statement,  they suspect more will have to undergo the trans vaginal ultrasound to get this information.    The abortion industry routinely does ultrasounds  to determine the fetal age to  determine the procedure used to kill the developing human life in the womb....and if the abdominal ultrasound is not sufficient...sometimes due to the girth of the mother, trans vaginal ultrasound is used. So what's the beef with providing the women with informed consent??? 

 I guess their  motto  here is less is better. Or could it be that more information means less business for the abortion industry??

Canada grapples with the horror of live birth abortions....

We may know more about this issue in the US due to the Born Alive Infant Protection Act and how this issue turned  popular blogger  Jill Stanek  from nurse to whistle blower and full time pro life activist. From state funded abortions to war on "empty cots" Russian dilemma

When I heard a news report about Vladimir Putin encouraging more babies to be born in Russia by giving time off and encouraging the listening of romantic tunes by Boyz II Men, I had to wonder about their abortion policy and if it had changed. Not yet, but they are starting to see the error in their ways.




An article shows just how the schizophrenic thinking of the Russian govt. can be. Abortions are the method of birth control used and state funded abortion commonplace.
The relative ease of getting an abortion, in fact, has blinded many women to the numerous health risks associated with the process, especially for those who turn to it more than once. "The complications include bleeding and inflammation in the short term," says Lyubov Yerofeyeva, the director of the Russian Family Planning Association, an NGO that works to improve sex education in Russia. "In the long term, the most severe complication could be infertility."
And with the population level in severe decline -- demographers estimate it could fall below 100 million by 2050, from 150 million in 1992 -- the Russian government is also keen to tackle the issue of abortion. Last year, then-President Vladimir Putin introduced a long-term project to encourage women to have families with more than one child.




So now Putin says to have at least three children per family. Women have been scarred psychologically and medically by multiple abortions and now they need to do an about face and produce more children.
For Putin has declared war on empty cots with classic Putin bravado.He’s often insisted that having lots of babies is key to Russia’s internal security, to Russia becoming more “influential” on the world state. Why have a great democracy or a flourishing economy when you can simply outnumber everyone else? Putin puts the desirable figure at three babies per household and, in 2007, one province helped things along by declaring a Day of Conception. The idea was that if Russians got the day off work then they might stay at home, put on some Boyz II Men, close the curtains and help bring back the good old days of Soviet hegemony. Women who gave birth 9 months later could win a refrigerator. And they say that romance is dead?

Abstinence Clearinghouse happily reports that the controversial Oxygen show, “All My Babies’ Mamas”, is being cancelled before its debut and is no longer in development. The show would have showcased rapper Shawty Lo’s relationships, which resulted in 11 children with 10 different women. Many pro-family groups – including several in the African American community – expressed disgust with the concept of the show.Star Parker remarked:

"The destruction of the black family in only 40 years is not normal and it should not treated as entertainment for vulnerable children and young women. The consequences of living without responsibility perpetuates poverty and it’s cruel."

Matt Clinger pens a guest post on wife Kelly Clinger’sblog after watchingMSNBC’s Touré claim abortion “saved” him. A post-abortive father himself, Matt’s message is a must-read:

"If you are in a relationship that you KNOW isn’t going to work out, why continue to call it a committed relationship and stay in it?… Men, hear me. This is one of the root problems of abortion: disrespectful, childish men who couldn’t truthfully admit “I know we are not going to get married, but let’s have sex and possibly conceive a child that neither of us are ready for.”…

"Abortion will end when BOYS can become MEN who respect women enough to not have sex with them until they are in a REAL “committed” relationship… called MARRIAGE."

Americans United for Life supports Missouri legislation introduced by Republican House Rep. John McCaherty, which would prohibit abortions due to sex selection and diagnosis of a disability. AUL’s Dr. Charmaine Yoest writes:

"It is wrong to discriminate against unborn children, targeting them for either their sex or a perception of their abilities and potential. We can do better."

Big Blue Wave notes that the Canadian press continues to spin the facts on abortion:

"Canadian Press reports that three MP’s are trying to get post-viability abortions investigated as homicides… without mentioning the fact that these babies were born live, as per their letter."

Fletcher Armstrong shares a video of Center for Bio-Ethical Reform executive director Gregg Cunningham’s pro-life presentation in a church, which included graphic abortion images. The serious question that remains for the church is, “Are we taking abortion as seriously as God takes child sacrifice in the Old Testament?” The answer is most likely “no.”
