Knoxville TN pro life groups ask local docs not to do abortion at remaining mill....

Committed pro life watchers in Knoxville, TN has posted this on Facebook. It is important that local people like these keep a watch on what is happening and respond. Already we have heard reports from post abortive women regretting their abortions discussing their concerns with doctors who were considering partnering with this abortion facility and at least one decided not to join them. Women have a right to know if their OB/GYN is doing abortions on the side. Imagine this as a part time job...delivering babies during the week and destroying developing babies in the womb on weekends.

I had an experience going to a GYN some years ago and when I was taken back to the examining room I saw a huge sign on the door of the Dr. advertising abortion supporting candidates even though the election had been over for two years. I asked the nurse if that was the office of the Dr. that was seeing me and she acknowledged that it was. I then asked if the Dr. was pro abortion and did she do abortions. The nurse avoided answering my question, advising me to get undressed and speak to the Dr. when she comes in. I had my answer and said I did not need to see this Dr. and left immediately. My sister thought I was overreacting but all I could think of was...hands that shed innocent blood....do I want those hands caring for me. The answer is NO.

"IMPORTANT ALERT! It has come to light that the Knoxville Center for Reproductive Health abortion clinic on Clinch Ave. is recruiting local Obstetrician/Gynecologists to do abortions for them. It is critical that we all contact our own doctors as soon as possible to let them know that we are aware of this recruiting effort and that we oppose any involvement by them in this deadly business.
We have also been grieved and shocked to learn some of our own doctors are already involved in abortion at the Clinch Avenue clinic. One of those doctors is Susan Dodd of the Women’s Care Group that practices at UT Hospital and Tennova.

Knoxville, TN safety regs close abortion center...no doc with hospital privileges

Knoxville, TN home of the TN  Vols will have one less abortion mill now.  A State law making abortion centers install an important safety regulation  passed last session and went into effect July 1. The impact of having abortions docs hold credentials good enough to have admitting privileges  at a nearby hospital proved too much for the Volunteer Women's Clinic in Knoxville and they closed their doors. The manger penned a farewell pity letter and shopped it to friendly pro abort sites. It is amazing to read her remembrance of 30 years of bloodshed and her acknowledgement that abortion was the revenue driver. Most amazing to me is her remembering an abortion of a full term pregnancy of a lady about to begin labor...remembered with pride!!

This blog recently wrote about their troubles with health violations and the impact of the new law here and here.

Here is a beautiful sight.

August 10th, 2012

I found out last night that I will have to close Volunteer Women's Medical Clinic in Knoxville TN, effective today. A law that went into effect July 1st 2012 called "The Life Defense Act", made it illegal for our local, Board Certified OB-GYN physician to perform abortions in our fully licensed Ambulatory Surgical Treatment Center. The law requires Drs. who perform abortions to have local hospital admitting privileges. The law applies exclusively to abortion. One of our Drs., Morris Campbell, was actually able to reinstate his privileges a few weeks before the law went into effect. Sadly, he had a stroke and died a few days after receiving the news about his hospital privileges.

I've been able to keep the doors open and the phone staff working up until this week. We've been working on legal remedies, injunction, etc., but I was unable to bridge the financial gap of paying the monthly lease and operating expenses without knowing when we could resume seeing patients.

I'm supposed to be out of the building (5000+sq.ft.) before Monday morning and I plan to somehow achieve that. I have visions of carting all the furniture and equipment across the street to the Crisis Pregnancy Center and piling it up on their lawn rather than going through the tedious task of finding a place for everything.

The clinic has been open for 38 years and I have worked there for over 30 years. I still remember the name of the first patient I took care of on the day I started, and I remember the answer an eleven year old girl gave when, after days of counseling, I asked her what she wanted to do. She said "I just want to go ride my new bicycle". No kidding baby girl. So many images remain of the strength of women.......the day we looked out the front window and saw an Appalachian woman we'd just discharged pushing an electric blue Corvette Sting Ray fast enough that her husband could pop the clutch and start the engine.......the coal miner's daughter that was full term and about to go into labor but swore it couldn't be true because no one had ever been "up on" her.......the sorority girl that said she got pregnant by trying on her friend's diaphragm that "must have had sperm on it"......the woman I brought back to life when she stopped breathing who later told us she had withheld critical medical history from us because she was afraid we wouldn't let her have an abortion if she told us the truth......all the Catholic women who had abortions over and over again because taking a birth control pill every day added up to more sins than a few abortions a year.

I'm so angry about this, also sad, and I'm grateful for whatever wisdom I possess that keeps me from feeling like a victim.

Thank you to everyone who has reached out with kind words during this nightmare. Now, I've got to get back to packing. Imagine it all working perfectly.

Knoxville may become abortion free with new state law

Knoxville Metro Pulse article discusses  the shortage of abortionists  in Knoxville. They lament that the two abortions facilities may have to close due to a new law taking effect July 1. The article stresses that one third of their clients are women who come from other states.

"In April, the Tennessee Legislature passed the Life Defense Act, requiring doctors who perform abortions to have hospital admitting privileges."

"At VWMC, Dr. Richard Manning is the primary physicain and he has opted not to restore his admitting privleges, which he relinquished years ago when he transitioned from full time OB/GYN practice to the ambulatory surgery clinic. Dr. Manning is 69. As of Sunday, July 1 he can no longer perform abortions in Tennessee. "
The article  further states that a colleague of Dr. Manning applied for admitting privileges to take over for Dr. Manning but died two weeks later. According to the reporter his name is being withheld since some members of his mourning family were unaware of his abortion practice.  Another doctor is willing to fill in temporarily  but unwilling per the article to do this on a full time basis. The article will not identify the female physician out of concern by "domestic terrorists in the anti abortion moment" and the woman also fears the backlash from the professional community.

The article is written very sympathetically to the abortion advocates and completely ignores the need to protect the women who are undergoing surgery  by doctors who fail to obtain admitting privileges at hospitals.

The law was passed in April and the article states that admitting privileges  take 30-60 days and a fee of $100.  The abortion mills price their  abortions from $490 -$950. One facility will acknowledge aborting  1600 babies per year. Wow, you think they can afford the $100 fee and they knew in April this was coming. Could it be that the doctors who do abortions do not have the credentials necessary to have admitting privileges?

So would we feel bad for TN not to be the abortion mecca of the south? Is this the reputation we want? Do we care so little about the safety of women and are so eager to abort babies that we oppose laws like this?

Knoxville TN: Banned PP from schools bring their info in under different cover

Good work on the part of vigilant parents in the Knoxville area. From No Planned Parenthood-Knox County Schools on Facebook.
"Attention Parents: This "nonprofit group" is currently active in the Knox County School system (see the section "Calendar of Events"). You can Google "planned parenthood" and "setting the record straight" and bring up the page from the time of the Knox County controversy. It is clearly stated on the PP page, under the section at the bottom, "What our education department is doing in east Tennessee," that "We are active members of Knoxville's Faith Coalition, KAPPI (Knoxville Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention Initiative, and the World AIDS Day planning committee."
So they are bringing the information in through a different avenue. PP wants access to your children edging out the parents in their own style. It is not so much as what they say in the classroom presentation as it is gaining credibility as information providers to your kids. They can encourage them to look them up through social media and then that is where it gets really interesting!  Check out some of their award winning websites such as Takecaredownthere.org. Prepare to be shocked! I know they pride themselves on being sooooo non judgmental.  Really??? Take this line from PP's  own website..
"Research shows us that shame-based, abstinence-only education does not work."

Pro Life Action League: Dozens Protest the War on Women

This is cross posted at Pro Life Action League.

I agree with his analysis is that even a beautiful day their numbers were paltry....it could be their muddled  messages. I was unable to attend the one in Nashville and searched for coverage and went to their public Facebook page to see their photos which I posted and they objected but hey, they would only post flattering photos right?? They should have been happy for the coverage because only Channel 5 covered them in online  and no video that I could find and their one and only photo was not flattering at all....a lone speaker with a bullhorn?

They warned me not to post pictures with children in them which I did not and it made me wonder if it was not a good rally to bring kids to. Since they had so many sponsors endorsing them...and a beautiful day in most cities...is this non response surprising??

I will be out of country on June 8th and hope someone will step up in Nashville, Knoxville and Chattanooga. I see Memphis is on the list...good for them. I can tell you PLAL gives you all the guidance

you need and from someone who never put on a rally before the hardest part was getting the word out...but I as expecting 75-100 since it was a work day but I think our final reported count was 700.

Thousands Dozens Protest the “War on Women”

Posted by Matt Yonke (May 1, 2012 at 8:11 am)
Unite Women Rally and Stand Up Rally
One of last weekend’s “Unite Women” rallies juxtaposed with one of last month’s “Stand Up for Religious Freedom Rallies
On Saturday, rallies were held to “Unite Against the War on Women”, a pretty obvious response to the Stand Up for Religious Freedom Rally campaign spearheaded by the Pro-Life Action League and Citizens for a Pro-Life Society.
As the picture indicates, the response was paltry. Even in New York City, where thousands gathered on March 23 in defense of religious freedom, only a few hundred showed up to protest.
They may have had a few B-list celebrity speakers, but they were pitching their muddled message to largely empty audiences. Outside of some talk about the so-called “war on women”, their message was as scattered as could be.

Unite Women for What?

At some Rallies it was about Planned Parenthood’s funding, others were about the wave of pro-life legislation that’s been sweeping the country, some about women making less money than men, still others were about the imaginary “crisis” in the availability of contraception.
With such an unclear message, it’s hardly surprising that the media largely ignored the event—even with the National Organization for Women’s PR juggernaut behind the events. Most of the coverage they received was from “women’s health” related websites and even there it was scarce. Google News search results don’t go past one page!

Unite Women a Sharp Contrast to Stand Up Rally

The disorganization of this effort as evidenced in their shoddy messaging, poor attendance and lackluster media coverage is a sharp counterpoint to the Stand Up Rally effort.
To say nothing of the messages on their signs, most of which are too vulgar to publish here. The Stand Up Rallies were designed from the outset to welcome participation from families, children and young people. I can only imagine how parents or folks from times with more decorum would feel at one of the Unite Women Rallies.
All of this shows exactly what League National Director Joe Scheidler has been saying for years: They might have the money and the political clout, but the other side just doesn’t have the grassroots.

A Beautiful Day To Yell at the Government

Martha Plimpton, TV actress of limited renown, summed the situation up nicely when she tweeted after attending the New York rally that it was, ” . . . a beautiful day to yell at the government.” And that seems to be precisely what was accomplished on Saturday: sound and fury, signifying nothing.
But while their event has sputtered out, the Stand Up effort has just begun. Mark your calendar for the June 8 Rally and bring your friends, bring your neighbors, bring your parish, bring your school.
Check here for a Rally near you, and if you don’t see one, consider signing on to become the Rally Captain in your town. The National Rally team will be there every step of the way to make sure your event is a success.

Knoxville:Framing Choice | Pro-lifers promote Planned Parenthood event.

Never shy, Fletcher Armstrong uses any and all opportunities to showcase what Planned Parenthood is all about...abortion.

So when Planned Parenthood, who is working hard to re brand themselves in his hometown of Knoxville with a " This is what choice means to me" outdoor educational event, he answers their call for help.He shows up with his graphic pictures of "Choice"   to show what choice looks like from the viewpoint of the victim.

Drats...hate it when the truth intervenes with the agenda.

"A dozen of us stood in a semi-circle facing the stage, surrounded on both sides of the Square by diners enjoying a First Friday meal at the many restaurants. Since we were toward the front of the Square and not facing them, the diners appeared to pay little heed. Two of our party stood with their backs to the stage holding a long banner, announcing to those entering the Square from the opposite direction, “Planned Parenthood: the Largest Abortion Provider in the USA.” I think PP should be glad we were there to announce it was a PP event, for they had no signage of their own. No banner proudly heralding their name, no bold identifier … just a humble grey tri-fold display board with the PP logo at the bottom. A few people wandered through the exhibit, never realizing it was a PP event. Why so shy? How popular is that brand, anyway?"
"...All in all, I hope PP appreciated our taking the opportunity to “share in that experience.” Anytime they need a banner to herald their name, we’ll be glad to bring one."

Knoxville parents still resist PP training the teachers as back door entrance to their students

Knoxville Parents are rightfully upset that the School board sees a compromise for PP to train the teachers to teach sex ed.  They see  through that charade....keep up the pressure.

"When asked about the school district's decision, Morris said, "For all outward appearances, that sounded great."
However, Morris and other parents are still upset, saying Planned Parenthood is still in the picture. They believe sex education teachers trained by Planned Parenthood are the ones teaching the classes.
"Our concern is if in fact these teachers are going to these training sessions, Planned Parenthood does not have to be in the schools. They are in the schools by training these teachers," Morris said."
"They are coming in through the back way and saying Planned Parenthood is really still involved," Morris said.
As long as parents believe Planned Parenthood still has an influence in the district, they don't plan to back down. "This is by no means over," Morris said.

Knox county, TN resolves parents complaints about PP by not allowing any outsiders to present sex ed info

Knox County, TN reports that following complaints from parents about the presentation Planned Parenthood that they have decided to cancel all outside groups from presenting and will use their own educators along with reps from the local health dept. I am not usually a fan of the educators from the Health Dept. because they are pretty much Planned Parenthood lite.

"Outside agencies will no longer be able to provide information to students about human sexuality under a decision made public Friday by Knox County Schools Superintendent Jim McIntyre.
The presentations will be conducted by the district's health educators and members of the Knox County Health Department."
The review, which involved staff from the school system, the Health Department and Carson-Newman College, found that Planned Parenthood's curriculum was "generally … very appropriate and tightly aligned with specific academic standards required within the Tennessee curriculum."
McIntyre added that because the group's website was shared with students, its contents were also inspected.
The site "did contain material that was outside what is approved in the Tennessee Family Life curriculum, and provided links to material that would clearly be inappropriate for classroom use and could understandably have been regarded as objectionable by some parents," he said in his memo.

Knoxville parents: Revoke the hall pass of PP to our kids

Article shows parents getting upset and with good cause... and good for the parents for standing up. They are getting the message. Planned Parenthood wants access to your kids and as the recent undercover videos show they are all too willing to come between the child and parent when it comes to reproductive issues including abortions. PP was supposed to be presenting a talk on abstinence but as the student said it never came up but what did come up was the address to a PP sponsored website  that can be considered at least soft porn...

"They're not just wellness educators; they're the largest providers of abortion services in the United States," he said. "The other purpose of our gathering tonight is to ask that Planned Parenthood's hallway pass to the classrooms of our youth be revoked."
"...said the presentation in her lifetime-wellness class at Hardin Valley in October was supposed to be about abstinence, but the subject never came up.
Later, the student and her mother saw the graphic material posted on the "Info for Teens" portion of the Planned Parenthood website; the site address was given to students in the presentation....showing  a number of sexual practices short of intercourse as "outercourse," takes a no-right-or-wrong approach to moral issues and has links to other sites with extremely graphic content.

Knoxville parents and PP clash over student presentation...

This is just  the way Planned Parenthood likes it...no parental knowledge and involvement.
Knox County teacher fails to send home a notice advising parents of a Planned Parenthood sex education talk. Student hears the presentation and is upset and tells her mother. The word abstinence is never mentioned in the talk. Mom and daughter go to website and see that the only thing about virginity mentioned is ways to lose it. Anyone who further examines their website outreach such as Takecaredownthere.org better be sitting down. As someone who used to do sex abuse investigations  as a part of my job, I was even shocked .
This mother along with other who are concerned are fighting to get PP out of schools.  Read the story.

"In class, it was definitely about how they never mentioned abstinence.  The word was never brought up at all," says student Alaynna McCormick.

"Unless a parent is willing to drop off their children at a Planned Parenthood office and leave them with them unattended for an hour, they ought to also not expect Planned Parenthood to have unfettered access behind closed doors in classrooms with their sons and daughters," said Paul Simoneau with the Catholic Diocese of Knoxville.

Knoxville: PP presents to students without parental consent in violation of law

CALL TO ACTION for Knoxville's Pro-Life Community

Planned Parenthood has been given access to Knox County students and at least one presentation has been done without parental consent, which is required by Tennessee law.  Beyond the fact that Planned Parenthood is the nation's largest abortion provider (well over 300,000 in 2009), their "wellness education" includes elements that most parents would consider unacceptable, if not pornographic.

Please help us get the word out.  Visit www.NoKnoxvilleAbortion.org to print flyers for Thursday's meeting, view a brochure detailing what Planned Parenthood is advocating with our students, or to link to their website to view some of their videos for yourself.

We are asking every concerned leader and parent to take a clear and immediate stand against this effort to corrupt our students and degrade the gift of human sexuality with their unacceptable materials.

PLEASE ATTEND AN INFORMATIONAL MEETING

Thursday, January 27th from 6:30 until 8:00 pm
at The Chancery Office at 805 Northshore Drive, SW (Map)

There will be a presentation of additional information on Planned Parenthood's agenda and history, along with a discussion of a strategy for action to remove them and their endorsed materials from our schools.  Our unity in this effort will be critical for success, so please share this information with friends, family and pastors and invite them to join you for this important meeting.

PLEASE CONTACT THESE OFFICIALS

Knoxville abortion ad acknowledges ceorcion does takes place.......

"They have ridiculous civil penalties that they put on this that are just absolutely for no other purpose but to intimidate people that are trying to help people that are in the process of trying to have an abortion. To the best of my knowledge, it is still the law of this land that you can legally have an abortion."  This was a quote from
Senator Beverly Marrero (D) Memphis, one of the two senators who voted against the Freedom from Coercion bill in the TN legislature. Read the back story of this bill here.

She also questioned the Senator bringing the bill about his report that over 60% of the women having abortions reported experiencing coercion. She definitely was a skeptic that coercion was even taking place.

Perhaps she needs to read this advertisement for the Knoxville abortion facility and focus on the quote below.

"Some women feel pressured or coerced into choosing abortion, and when this happens, post-abortion conflict can arise. Our staff will help you work through these conflicts by providing you with honest information, practical skills, compassion, and support. "

What coercion! I thought it was just helping people through the process of trying to have an abortion!
Instead of offering post abortion counseling, how about not aborting....what a novel thought!  When a woman says NO, her word should be final. There is no conflict to work through...she said NO.

When pastors get involved......things start happening!!!

I can tell you from experience that when pastors/priests etc get involved....things start happening and in a hurry. Sometimes they forget the influence they have. How exciting to see pastors  in the minority community gettimg involved in standing up to Planned Parenthood of East and Middle TN who seek to bankroll their abortion industry by taking advantage of minority neighborhoods.

How exciting to see the cooperation of churches to stand up for the voiceless and say NO MORE!!  Catherine Davis from GA Right to Life coming to town to speak is exciting! No wonder Planned Parenthood is angry. Their gig may be up! We have people like Abby Johnson, former PP director, telling people they push abortion to drive up revenues and Rev. Walter Hoye getting arrested for peaceful sidewalk counseling. Who can forget his impassioned speech.....my people are dying. He is coming again in April to speak to Minister's Day on the Hill. I am sure Catherine Davis will be a great speakers as well. Exciting times!

Read the article here from the Tennessean....a paper that strongly favors the abortion industry.

 Updates from: http://noknoxvilleabortion.org/home

Rally for Life a Success

This past Saturday, February 20th, more than one hundred people of all ages, races and religious affiliations came together to declare Knoxville as a City of Life, saying "YES" to Life and "NO" to Planned Parenthood.  The crowd gathered to hear speakers and offered prayer, all while enjoying one of the most beautiful days since last fall.

Bishop Richard Stika, of the Catholic Diocese of Knoxville, recently asked State Representative Joe Armstrong to support pro-lifer's efforts to stop Planned Parenthood's relocation to an East Knoxville medical facility.

Planned Parenthood Secretly Moving to East Knoxville

Attend the Rally for Life

Say "YES" to Life and "NO" to Planned Parenthood.  Join community, religious and political leaders in defending and promoting Knoxville as a City of Life at the:
     RALLY for LIFE
     Saturday, February 20, 2010 from 2:00pm until 4:00pm
True Vine Baptist Church, 2547 Washington Ave, Knoxville, TN 37914

Planned Parenthood Secretly Moving to East Knoxville

In December, Planned Parenthood of Middle and East Tennessee (PPMET) closed its Downtown West office, and temporarily shared office space with a local abortion doctor.  After the doctor's lease on his office was non-renewed by the hospital group who owned the building, ProCET learned that PPMET would be moving to a location on Cherry Street.  Subsequently, it was learned that PPMET had purchased a 4,000 sq ft medical building located at 710 N Cherry Street through a company established to disguise their true identity from the public.
According to the building's previous owner, neither he nor his broker were made aware of PPMET's true identity.  The seller has advised ProCET that the transaction was brokered by NAI Knoxville.  This past August, NAI was one of more than 50 commercial realtors in Knoxville who were notified about how PPMET might try to deceive an agent or seller.
ProCET is coordinating a response with leaders of the African-American community.  Stay tuned to find out how you can get involved.

Planned Parenthood Approved in Knox County Schools?

Are your children and grandchildren being taught radical views of teen sexuality by America's largest abortion provider?  If your students are in Knox County's public schools, the answer is - quite possibly.  In a newsletter released by Planned Parenthood of Middle and East Tennessee (PPMET), PPMET-Knoxville representative, Ginny Ramseyer Winter, claims Knox County School officials have approved five PPMET lesson plans for Lifetime Wellness classes.  According to Winter, PPMET's instructors are now available to all thirteen Knox County high schools.
This seems to coincide with a new initiative by Planned Parenthood of New York City, who recently announced their We're Going to the Principal's Office campaign, which is designed to persuade school principals to utilize Planned Parenthood's curriculum for sex ed training.
Parents are encouraged to learn more about Planned Parenthood's radical views on teen sexuality by visiting TeenWire,  TakeCareDownThere, or FYI:Educating Peers About Sex (NOTE: Access to this Facebook Group was closed to the public after this article appeared).  WARNING: These websites contain graphic content.  To prevent Planned Parenthood from gaining access to your schools, contact your school administration, school board members and principals.

Pro Life Knoxville opposes Planned Parenthood move

from knoxnews.com

KNOXVILLE - About 40 anti-abortion advocates this morning attended an event at the True Vine Baptist Church, 2547 Washington Ave., to express their opposition to Planned Parenthood's move to a new 4,000-square-foot building at 710 Cherry St.
Lisa Morris, spokesperson for Pro-Life Coalition of East Tennessee, said, "We wanted to have a press conference to let people know about the nature of Planned Parenthood's organization. We just wanted to educate people about who Planned Parenthood is and what they do."
Leaders of the coalition - which battled an earlier Planned Parenthood office move into the Bearden area - say they're opposed to Planned Parenthood locating anywhere.
Coalition leaders accused Planned Parenthood - which in Knoxville does not offer surgical abortions - of being "deceitful."
The anti-abortion coalition had lobbied real-estate companies to not lease property to Planned Parenthood. The Pro-Life Coalition accused Planend Parenthood of buying property under another name - Leonard Lawson LLC.
Planned Parenthood had hoped in August 2009 to move its health center from 8078 Kingston Pike, near West Town Mall, to a larger building, which it would lease, in Bearden's Homberg Place. The nonprofit organization provides birth control, counseling, testing and treatment for sexually transmitted diseases, education and RU486, a drug that can terminate pregnancies for up to nine weeks.
It does not perform surgical abortions in Knoxville, primarily because there are an adequate number of other providers in this area, said Jeff Teague, Planned Parenthood president and CEO.
But after the Pro-Life Coalition of East Tennessee mounted a campaign opposing the relocation, Planned Parenthood and the Homberg property owner came to a "mutual business decision" to halt the move.
Planned Parenthood paid $296,250 for the Cherry Street building.
