CDC $$ to Memphis for project outsourced to Planned Parenthood

Centers for Disease Control selects Shelby County (Memphis)  to receive  a grant  for 75K to test for syphilis.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention chose Shelby County as a funding site for the project because of the high rates of syphilis transmission in our community. In 2009, Shelby County ranked fifteenth of all counties in the U.S. for symptomatic syphilis. Shelby County has the highest number of newly-diagnosed syphilis cases in Tennessee, and the infection rate for all stages of syphilis is five times higher in Shelby County than in the U.S. overall.

So what does the Shelby County Health Dept. do...they outsource it to Planned Parenthood. 

You may remember that Yvonne Madlock, the Director of Shelby County Health Dept. was the only one out of 95 counties in TN that would not take on the responsibility of family planning services with the Title X money from the govt.  Madock wrote her "conditions"  to TN Health Commissioner Susan Cooper in a letter stating she would accept  the $1.345MM on a month to month basis and will not rule out subbing it out to Planned Parenthood.  Planned Parenthood was to be defunded. That was the intent of the legislature. Some stealth  tactics or antics were used to circumvent what the legislators clearly thought they voted on.


Shelby County  continues to "friend" Planned Parenthood to the tune of 75K instead of doing the work. Madlock disses the Commissioner of Health, the state legislature and continues to  pick and chooses her assignments. 

Now she has the audacity to award a grant from CDC to Planned Parenthood/Memphis because of their "stellar record."

And let us not forget  how  Memphis PP distinguished  themselves....

UK: undercover reporter finds the only one mentioning adoption is not pregnancy resource centers but abortion provider!?!!!

This article in the Daily Mail is so frustrating  and educational. 

An undercover reporter in Great Britain presents as a pregnant,  single 26 year old professional  who is uncertain what to do. She does this assignment because of a  potential law being  debated in their Parliament  that would require abortion facilities  to offer free counseling from independent and separate  agencies not benefiting from the abortion decision. The article clearly states something that does not surprise me but no one in the States would admit this.....

"The leading private abortion clinics Marie Stopes International and the British Pregnancy Advisory Service (BPAS) both provide such counseling, but are paid per abortion, which hardly promotes independence."

Remember they have universal health care...but on to the point. The reporter goes to two abortion providers and four non profit pregnancy resource centers.  She finds the first two abortion providers spend a lot of time telling her that she should not feel guilty over choosing abortion and it was not a selfish decision. They also downplayed any abortion  risks and brushed off any discussion of parenting. 

What leaped out at me is the second abortion counselor was the only one who even mentioned the word ADOPTION.

She admitted to having low expectations of the faith based organizations but was complimentary of some of them. She felt less pressure, felt that they helped her talk through her options but they were life affirming and tried to help her picture her pregnancy as a person.  They seemed more caring about her and this makes sense since they were not paid  according to her decision. Most of these ministries are staffed by trained volunteers.

What is so sad is that the  only one who mentioned the option of adoption is the abortion provider. It was mentioned in passing but at least it was mentioned!! Come on pregnancy  resource centers.

I sit on the board of a non profit that is working to accurately address all the options in an  unplanned pregnancies and give accurate, updated information about the option of adoption correcting any negative adoption language.  The number of adoption decisions are so low that they don't even track them....less than 1%. Why is that? It is because people have an outdated and inaccurate picture of adoption. They choose abortion over adoption as preferable for them and the baby. Can you get your head around that thinking??

It Really is a Mad, Mad World

In a news flash from England, it seems as if Splice has met the Planet of the Apes.  The Daily Mail reported that British scientists " have created more than 150 human-animal hybrid embryos" in British laboratories.  Now, if it can happen in Britain, it can happen anywhere.  At least Britain has some regulations.  In fact, truth be told, I know many countries do not have regulations.  Few countries tell the truth about anything when it comes to science and scientific experimentation. 

Just a personal aside, I always thought God created, but in our brave new world, man has taken over that job.  Like any job that man takes away from God, man becomes the loser in the end.  In our brave new world, man has become mad in his creations...to quote the British Mail, "the hybrids have been produced in secret over the past three years by researchers looking into possible cures for a wide range of diseases."  Have we heard that before?  I think we have.  Embryonic stem cell research has been sold to the public as a panacea of cures for every disease.  This has produced a government funded disaster -  no cures, but lots of bodies and more promises from the"scientific" community.

A wise priest long ago said, "all social engineering is preceded by verbal engineering."  Boy is this coming home to roost.  Movies abound about transhumanism.  In the movie, Planet of the Apes, poor Charlton Heston was simply mixed up, but he was mixed up with a bunch of very smart apes.  The remake of this movie is astounding.  It doesn't deal with the problems that Charlton dealt with, instead it has progressed, along with society, to modern day lack of ethics.  In the remake, the scientist is looking for a cure for Alzheimer's disease.  After all, his father is suffering from dementia labeled as Alzheimer's.  In the movie, his violation of medical ethics is justified by his desire to find a cure for his father.  Of course, the movie doesn't talk about ethics or consequences of actions, but only concentrates on relieving the emotional anxiety of the son.

Fast forward to Britain in today's world.  The Daily Mail reported "155 'admixed embryos' containing both human and animal genetic material have been created since the introduction of the 2008 Human Fertilization Embryology Act.  "This legalized the creation of a variety of hybrids, including an animal egg fertilized by a human sperm; cybrids, in which a human nucleus is implanted into an animal cell; and chimerias, in which human cells are mixed with animal embryos."  This is not too far from the movie Splice.  These hybrids, we are told, are killed within 14 days, if you can believe that.  In Splice, the scientists couldn't bring themselves to kill what they had created until it killed one of them.

Splice, the movie, depicted two scientists who spliced human DNA with animal DNA and produced a creature that was human in some aspects, but never lost its brute animal character.  Now if the United States can have a movie about this topic that the British Mail just discovered, imagine what else is going on in laboratories around the world. Greedy mad scientists are playing God.  Of course, they think they are doing God's work.  This is because when they look in the mirror in the morning, they see the creator rather than the creature.

Victory for Big Abortion: TX judge rules against requiring medically accurate infromation prior to abortion.....

Amazing....that the courts consider it offensive and an attack on free speech to have the doctor give medically accurate information to the patient prior to performing a surgical procedure!! They also say that this will discourage competent doctors from performing abortions leaving it to less skilled practitioners. Earth to judge.....those are the ones out there doing this. The majority of doctors will not do abortions....a survey by Obstetrics and Gynecology report that only 14 % of docs are willing to do abortions.

The Act’s onerous requirements will surely dissuade or prevent many competent doctors from performing abortions, making it significantly more difficult for pregnant women to obtain abortions,” Sparks wrote, according to the Houston Chronicle. “Forcing pregnant women to receive medical treatment from less-skilled providers certainly seems to be at odds with ‘protecting the physical and psychological health and well-being of pregnant women,’ one of the Act’s stated purposes.”

Of course this agenda driven decision will be appealed. Honestly, you can't make this stuff up. Women need to make a life altering decision without medically accurate information about her offspring that is going to die??  Is this America or a bad dream??? How many women say afterwords, I had no idea...they didn't tell me or let me see the ultrasound such as this woman

They do a physical exam and an ultrasound of the baby. I honestly can say I felt its presence more than ever before, as they performed the ultrasound. It really made me curious, what did it look like? Me, him? Was it a girl, a boy? I imagined its little eyes, hands, feet… So I asked the technician if I could see the baby, and she quickly told me no. I asked why I wasn’t able to see my baby and she told me that it was because people were likely to change their mind.

And that's it in a nutshell...changed minds is $$ out the door and not in the coffers. Abortion is big business.....you hear Big Pharma....Big Tobacco....well this  is Big Abortion.

Liberty University bans pro life graphic images (GAP)

Why are church schools the toughest customers to the pro life message. It is a shame. Certainly they know  that Christians do get abortions and need to be educated.  Liberty University in VA at first was going to allow GAP but then backed out. GAP then took their message to the public sidewalks outside the university.

 

WI: bans Republicans from parade...small and silly

This is off topic sort of but from my home state.  Dems in Wausau Wis ban Republicans from their annual Labor Day Parade. 
This makes them look small and silly. The Dems did not prevail in their recall elections and they are sore losers. 

But to my topic, did it ever occur to the Dems that their abortion supporting stance may have led to their downfall just as much as the economic issues because WI is a pro life state and they  will not support the platform of the party of death.

Women's Rights without Frontiers acknowledges that Biden and his boss Obama are trying to walk back statements by Biden on China's one child policy. They acknowledge that this policy includes forced sterilizations  and abortions and even call it repugnant. Well the follow up question hits straight to the heart of issue with the question."

Daily Telegraph: Abortion is about money as well as morals

Forget the moral rights and wrongs. Forget, too, talk of a woman’s right vs a baby’s right. Britons should see abortion as a consumer issue. Then they ‘ll cheer Nadine Dorries MP for ending the monopoly enjoyed by some abortion providers. For years the Tory MP for Mid Bedfordshire has campaigned to provide women seeking abortion with independent counseling; finally, the government has agreed.

About time, too. Until now, organizations that provide terminations were allowed to counsel women who sought advice before their abortion. These organizations are sometimes called “abortion charities”, because they offer women abortions free of charge through the NHS. But despite their “charity” status these are private providers who get  £60 million a year from the Department of Health for their services. Given their vested interest in the procedure, you can imagine the advice they were giving the woman seeking counsel: go for it, girl. Or rather, get rid of it, girl.

Had this been the situation in any other section of the market, consumer groups would have been up in arms long ago. Imagine Big Pharma informing the public that their anti-malaria vaccine was the only one that worked. “Which?” and other consumer lobby groups would be waving placards and launching protests against the abuse of clients.

Guardian writers and readers have been gnashing their teeth about the government’s proposals being anti-feminist. What nonsense: it’s anti-feminist to treat women as dummies who must take advice from “experts” with a vested interest. If I want to have an abortion or any even minor surgery, don’t I deserve independent counsel on the advantages and disadvantages of taking such a step?

A business that stands to gain from a procedure, whether it be vaccination or termination, cannot provide independent counsel to those contemplating the procedure. That’s not judgmental moralizing, just good economics.

 RH Reality  has a post that comes under the heading....you can't make this stuff up. Some excerpts....

My daughter was 2 years old the first time we talked about abortion. While this might seem shocking to some, it was a part of a very conscious decision on my part to raise my children with pro-choice values

In simple terms, I told her: “When a woman gets pregnant, she can either stay pregnant and have a baby, or she can go to a doctor and have him or her get rid of the fetus so that she doesn't have a baby. That's called abortion. Ummm notice the change of terms....have a baby or get rid of the fetus. See honey, wanted...a baby....unwanted a fetus.         

 She was used to hearing accurate pregnancy-related terminology, and she was about as disgusted by the anti-choice position as you could ever expect a pre-schooler to be. Is she frightened of a pix of a baby??

As my daughter has grown older, our discussions about abortion rights have continued to evolve, catching her younger brother up on the subject and adding in more information about the actual procedure.... Do you show her pictures of what the baby or fetus looks like following the abortion. Doesn't concern or frighten her??

There are myriad important reasons to have that conversation – and to keep having it as your pre-schoolers become big kids, tweens, and then teenagers who will soon be facing reproductive decisions of their own.

 Perish the thought that otherwise, our babies will become the next generation of forced-birth bullies!  

There isn't anything frightening about terminating a pregnancy, but even a child can comprehend the atrocity in forced gestation.

Through open and honest discussion, children learn that women they love – their mothers, grandmothers, aunts, and family friends – have made the choice to abort without shame or guilt.

So Mommy, if I was unwanted while you were pregnant, I could end up in pieces and you could go on without shame or guilt because those big bad forced birth bullies must be stopped.  But, if you change your mind on me, can you terminate me?? Just asking.....

NEA convention supports Obama and abortion...

I am no fan of the NEA because of their support for abortion and funneling millions of $$  to support the most abortion supporting president in all of history.

Here are some excerpts from their recent convention that tells all. Doesn't it seem strange for those who devote  their lives to educating children supporting the killing of the children in the womb. Are they wanting to go out of business?? 

The second resolution really gets me. Translated means they partner with Planned Parenthood and take  parents out of the picture for birth control decisions and abortions.

The approval opens the coffers of NEA PAC dollars toward Obama's re-election; union leadership said they are prepared to spend up to $60 million on the campaign. 




B-51. Sex Education. The Association recognizes that the public school must assume an increasingly important role in providing the instruction. Teachers and health professionals must be legally protected from censorship and lawsuits. The Association also believes that to facilitate the realization of human potential, it is the right of every individual to live in an environment of freely available information and knowledge about sexuality and encourages affiliates and members to support appropriately established sex education programs. Such programs should include information on sexual abstinence, birth control, family planning, diversity of culture and diversity of sexual orientation and gender identification, sexually transmitted diseases, incest, sexual abuse, sexual harassment, and homophobia.




I-17. Family Planning. The National Education Association supports family planning, including the right to reproductive freedom. The Association also urges the implementation of community-operated, school-based family planning clinics that will provide intensive counseling by trained personnel.

Dr. supports graphic pictures for smoking...how about abortion??

An editorial in the  abortion supporting Tennessean caught my eye even though I am not a smoker. It is written by Dr. Eddie Hamilton president of the TN chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics. He agrees with graphic labels on cigarette packages  and chastises "Big Tobacco" for fighting this. His article is entitled Labels true, appropriate way to stop smoking.

As I read the article all I could think of is substitute abortion for the word cigarettes and kill for harm.  Insert abortion industry for Big Tobacco. It works.

I would hope that Dr. Hamilton a pediatrician would agree.

"My hope is that the court dismisses the Big Tobacco lawsuit; we must fight this epidemic with every weapon at our disposal — deadly pictures included."

I agree let's educate people with the truth. It will save millions of lives.

Paul: Liberty is secondary to Life...libs are hysterical over truism

 Hysterical, shrieking and  beside themselves , incredulous ... They cannot believe anyone would say that abortion is the most important issue...WHAT?  "More important than unemployment, the stagnating economy, the wars overseas, or anything else. The most important thing, Ron Paul believes, is stripping women of their basic right to control their own bodies."

Ron Paul Takes on Abortion: 'The Most Important Issue of Our Age'

Stuck in Washington as Congress faces votes on continued funding of American military action in Libya, U.S. Rep. Ron Paul of Texas, making his third bid for the White House, spoke via Skype to pro-life activists convening in Jacksonville.

“I talk a lot about right-to-life,” said Paul, who called it “the most important issue of our age.”

Paul, who was the Libertarian presidential nominee in 1988 and ran for the Republican presidential nomination in 2008, called abortion “a very bad sign for civilization.

“To give abortion-on-demand is to show there is no respect for life,” Paul told the National Right-to-Life Committee's (NRLC) annual convention.

Paul noted that he has been called a “champion of liberty” due to his call for a reduction in the size and scope of the federal government, his critiques of  monetary policy and his attacks on American foreign policy.

“Liberty is secondary to life,” insisted Paul. “If you’re careless about the defense of life, you can’t be a champion of liberty.”

The congressman noted that when he went to medical school in the late 1950s and early 1960s, he never encountered or studied about abortion and grieved to see the practice become legalized and supported in America. He noted that the Hippocratic oath was no longer being administered to new doctors, arguing this is a sign of how accepted abortion has become.

Paul said pro-life advocates would never see an end to legalized abortion until the culture was changed.

“The legalization of abortion has come from a change of morality,” maintained Paul. “We fight abortion at all levels but ultimately it’s the morality of the people that counts.”

The congressman said he believed that the legalization of abortion led to the rise of a number of violent crimes across the United States. including increased incidents of child abuse.

Unlike many pro-lifers who want to see the federal government outlaw abortion, Paul said the best way to fight against it politically would be at the state levels.

“I see abortion as an act of violence so I see it as a state issue,” said Paul. “When we make it a national issue, we get what we’ve had.”

Paul said the Supreme Court of the United States should have never heard Roe v. Wade, the case that legalized abortion, and said that social issues -- including abortion, school prayer and marriage -- should be handled by the states and not by the federal courts.

The congressman pointed to the We the People Act that he has backed, which would take social issues back to the states, and expressed dissatisfaction with Congress for never passing it -- even when conservatives and Republicans controlled the White House and both chambers of Congress.

“We could have stopped millions and millions of abortions,” said Paul. “We should not legalize the killing of an individual.”

Countries that offer free abortions now in population decline...so how is that working out for you?

 Slate  prints an article about countries with serious population decline and ways they are trying to make up the difference such as Russia.

In May, Vladimir Putin, alarmed at Russia's declining population, which is falling thanks to short life expectancy and a plummeting birthrate (1.17 children per woman, down from about 2 in 1990), offered a bonus of 250,000 rubles (about $9,200) to women who would have a second child.

But for developed nations, the birthrates may have dropped too far. Europe and Japan face a shortage of children that endangers pensioners and undermines economic dynamism. Even China is facing a labor shortage, thanks to its one-child policy.

I have written several times about the declining population in Russia and how they are now doing a 360  to try to turn things around. Even the Russian Orthodox Church is waking up.

So to Ted Turner who said they the world should emulate China's One Child policy because too many children are killing the planet to our own Vice President "understanding" China's one child policy this is what abortion does for you.  How is that choice working out for you?

Breaking News.... Pro Choicer interviews pro lifer and likes her

What a wonderful way to start the day....a cup of coffee and  reading  an interview in a Jezebel column that is not  an   angry propaganda piece for the abortion industry.  

Jezebel  features a column by Gaby Dunn, writer, journalist and comedian in New York City. The title is Talking to an Abortion Clinic Protester. Her first sentence hooked me. She started by saying she fundamentally disagreed with the young lady, Sarina Duvall , but liked her very much.  Gaby was doing a series called  100 Interviews, and found Sarina on Facebook, messaged her and asked to interview her. 

What took place turned out to be a great conversation between a pro choice interviewer and a pro life activist. Very uplifting and if you ever did sidewalk counseling (it is not accurate IMHO to call it protesting as those are two different activities) ...this young lady has demonstrated knowledge and maturity.  

She  is able to articulate the issue quite well and having  the interviewer describe her as warm and friendly is quite a compliment. Sarina has street cred too. She  had a rough beginning in life, made some bad choices herself, but understands  that reaching out in  love  is key at this critical time. Interesting side note is that her own  mother was  conceived as a result of gang rape; her mother almost aborted her to the point of being on the table when she changed her mind.  Wow, two generations almost lost. Her mom  later did have an abortion when the doctor told her the baby girl she was carrying had serious defects.

"One [sign] said, ‘Babies Are Killed Here.' I don't disagree with the statement, but I don't know how warm and Christlike that is," Sarina purses her lips. "I just think you can be less vulgar. Jesus wouldn't put a sign in their face and say ‘Baby killer!'" She prefers to emulate a man, "he's maybe around 86 years old, and he goes out there every day and just loves on these people. So many women have decided not to just because someone said, ‘Someone loves you.'"

But she thinks it's okay to have more graphic images in the pamphlets. "It's just education. A lot of women go in and don't know what the doctor is doing...There's the saying, ‘If the womb had a window, no one would get an abortion."

For being 24, Sarina is quite mature. I am impressed.  She understands that someone entering the abortion clinic is already hurting and  confronting  them with hostility and anger is not the key.  The interviewer mildly chides her for not giving a good answer to the question  about the feminist viewpoint but I think her answer was spot on.

"I don't really get a clear answer out of her when I talk about abortion as a feminist issue. She indicates that she finds that concept to be a misdirection, when it should be about the children."

Exactly....what about the children?  I strongly suspect that  Sarina planted  a few seeds with the interviewer and the readers.  I am so glad to have someone like Sarina out there.  May we all learn to give a reasonable defense of life with love not anger.

  Based on testimony from expert geneticists and embryologists, the Task Force agreed, “There can no longer be any doubt that each human being is totally unique from the very beginning of his or her life at fertilization.”
  
• Minnesota Citizens Concerned for Life highlights O. Carter Snead’s new Public Discourse essay in which he disagrees with the old Clinton election slogan, “It’s the economy, stupid.” Snead points out that the life issue should be emphasized because pro-life issues “are intrinsically of greater moral significance than the other political issues of our day,” noting the “power of the presidency to affect these issues.”

Well I read Inconceivable and found it fascinating but to be honest it kind of swayed me away from IVF although I was skeptical to begin with.  I can better understand the Catholic Church's  admonishment from entering into it due to the unintended consequences of what starts  out as a couple just wanting  children.
I am glad everyone is alright and the babies are here and I wish blessings on all involved.

Our little miracles are beautiful and healthy, and we are eternally grateful to our partner Jennifer for her sacrifice and her gift to us. Jennifer, you carefully tended to them and safely shepherded them into this world. We don’t know how many thank you’s will ever be enough. We thank God for these two blessings. You lifted us in our darkest hour and gave us courage and strength to never quit our dreams to grow our family. It has been an inconceivable journey…and it continues. We hope that you’ll

Most having abortions are not teens....Natl Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy

National Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy releases the latest Guttmacher Institute report on unintended pregnancies . Long report but some interesting things jump out at me.

The part that interested me is the unintended pregnancies ending in abortion. Of  course these are reports for 2006  and analyzes the time between 2001 and 2006. Some interesting points...

• The  highest age of pregnancies ending in abortions is 35-39
• Most reported had some college followed by college graduate.
• Black, non Hispanic has 52 % of abortions and the second place is at 39% for Caucasian
• Relationship status were single women not cohabiting. 
• Most said they had no religious affiliation 

So the aborting woman is most likely  a 35 year  old , college educated, black, single and not living with someone and claims no religious affiliation.

So what does this tell us?  They surely know about birth control, can be expected to have access to birth control procedures. They are obviously  engaging in casual sex and have no inhibition to using abortion as a method of birth control.  This goes along with reports that most presenting with an unintended pregnancy state they  did not consistently use birth control. 

So abortion as a means of birth control? Sure looks that way. That is why abortion is a lucrative industry.

Chinese Human Rights Abusers — House Bill May Deny Entry into the U.S.

If passed, H.R. 2121, the “China Democracy Promotion Act of 2011,” would enable the President to deny entry into the U.S. for Chinese nationals who have “committed human rights abuses” against people in China, including anyone who “has participated in the imposition of . . . China’s coercive birth limitation policy.”  Under this wide-ranging bill, the President would also have discretion to deny entry to Chinese nationals who have participated in a wide range of human rights abuses.

Reggie Littlejohn, President of Women’s Rights Without Frontiers, stated, “Decades ago, Congress barred foreign persecutors from obtaining asylum in the United States, to keep out Nazi war criminals.  Why should Chinese officials who force women to have abortions, persecute ethnic minorities, torture people for their religious beliefs, repress public interest lawyers and jail journalists be welcomed to our land?  These persecutors need to be held accountable.  They do not deserve to set foot on U.S. soil.”

Passage of this bill, however, may not be enough.  The key player is the President.  Even if the bill passes, will President Obama take a strong stand for the suffering people of China and deny entry to their persecutors?  Littlejohn stated, “Nothing in his record thus far indicates that President Obama would deny entry to Chinese government persecutors, at least where the One Child Policy is concerned.  To the contrary, President Obama restored funding to UNFPA, which former Secretary of State Colin Powell found to be working hand in hand with the Chinese coercive family planning machine.   

 And on his official visit, Vice President Biden just told China ‘Your policy has been one which I fully understand — I’m not second-guessing — of one child per family.’  If Biden ‘fully understands’ the One Child Policy, then he understands it is enforced through forced abortion.  If he is ‘not second-guessing’ it, then he is not opposing it.”
The bill was introduced by Rep. Chris Smith (R-NJ), and is sponsored by Reps. Frank Wolf (R-Va.), Dan Burton (R-Ind.), and Dana Rohrabacher (R-Calif.).  Significantly, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Lamar Smith (R-Texas) newly signed on as a co-sponsor, which increases the likelihood that the bill will move through the Committee.

This case shows the Obama administration’s disregard for free speech and total allegiance to the abortion industry.
• Pro-Life Wisconsin reports the state’s largest public university has selected former Planned Parenthood official, Lorraine Lathen, to co-manage a $10M fund to help lower instances of African-American infant mortality. Sources omitted this point from the article lauding her accomplishments. Talk about a disconnect.

• ProLife NZ has a piece on Alberto Costa, a physician and neuroscientist at the University of Colorado-Denver School of Medicine, whose research has the potential to help individuals like his daughter, Tyche (pictured left with Costa), who has Down syndrome. He says looking for ways to help those with Ds is like racing against those who seek to “eliminate” Ds by aborting those who have it. He laments the lack of funding for research into actual treatments for Ds, because “[t]he geneticists expect Down syndrome to disappear… so why fund treatments?” Kill instead of cure seems to be the direction of the prenatal testing blitz.
• The Life Training Institute blog shares the conversion story of the formerly pro-abortion atheist blogger, “Raving Atheist,” who had a change of perspective due in part to a “serendipitous” meeting with a pro-life blogger who gave a reasoned defense of life.
• Vital Signs demonstrates how to write a factual and firm but non-offensive letter to a business supporting Planned Parenthood.
• Kelsey at Secular ProLife gets to the heart of the matter regarding a University of Miami football scandal in which recruitment funds were egregiously misused – in one case, to pay for a woman’s abortion. This “forgotten child,” is treated almost as a footnote in all the news articles on this scandal.
• Suzy B has stunning pictures of the World Youth Day in Madrid, which attracted over a million pro-lifers. Live Action’s Lila Rose was a guest speaker at the event.
• John Smeaton shares this hard-hitting video from the Madrid World Youth Day in which Michael Voris of RealCatholicTV.com blasts Catholic politicians who support abortion:

Say it isn't so...Joe... no issue with China's one child policy

Update: The Administration is trying to explain that Joe did not mean what he said in China  about China's one child policy because  Biden and his boss truly oppose the policy that results in forced abortions, gender selection  and sterilizations. 

This is the man that is one heartbeat away from being president!  Well if you cannot trust him to go alone on a trip abroad...keep Joe home and muzzled.

I suggest that he and Obama who are showing  their pro abortion allegiance.  Life News points out "

Forced abortions, sterilizations, gender abortion ....no problem for Vice President Joe Biden. He will not second guess their policy  or condemn it. Hey it is all about the economics, right? Disgraceful!

Penny Nance, president and CEO of Concerned Women for America had some straight talk for Joe:

“Vice President Biden’s approval of China’s one-child policy, which uses forced abortion to enforce the law, crosses the lines of ignorant and wrong. Then to suggest that the United States should learn from China’s policy, like forcing its citizens to have only one child, to help manage debt, is an insult to the basic American values of life and liberty,” Nance said. “Also, Concerned Women for America wants to know if Biden’s position is the official administration’s stance on the one-child policy in China.”

PP/Memphis now promotes abstinence .....

I thought PP made fun of abstinence education and demanded that no $$  be spent on it. Now they want to jump on the bandwagon. Here is one of their ads in Memphis...the only county in TN(Shelby) who still gets tax money....

Sex selection abortion .. called brave new world

If you want to wake up without the morning cup of coffee, try reading this latest article in the NYT on sex selection kits.  As one of six children (five girls and one boy)  I take this pretty personally. 

PP , NOW,NARAL and the rest of the abortion industry keep tweeting to stop the war on women. Well where are they in this fight. Anyone? Anyone?

“Seven weeks is a different time in pregnancy,” said Dr. James Egan, a professor of obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Connecticut Health Center who was a co-author of a study on sex selection with Dr. Chapman and others. “Women haven’t had the ultrasound where you see the fetus that looks like a baby. Many people don’t even know that a woman is pregnant. And you can have a medical termination,” using pills like RU-486, which can be used at home discreetly before 10 weeks of pregnancy.

The fetus...Latin for offspring looks like a baby because it is a baby.. and he makes the point that visually viewing the ultrasound viewing increases the chance that abortion vulnerable women will choose LIFE so you can end the life of your baby before you get emotionally attached, other people do not know you are pregnant and you can use the at home chemical abortion, RU 486!!! Better check out the death rate to women first!!! Do you want to scream that medical doctors who have taken the Hippocratic Oath would be saying this??

Yes, that will surely work...sign a waiver saying they are not doing sex selection abortion.  We have no cause to condemn China or India. Isn't our motto in the abortion on demand without apology. They don't ask why you are aborting, just collect the $$$ upfront.

Some states are moving to ban sex selection abortion but the abortion industry is  concerned about the PR image this may have on them as they oppose this....

The laws would probably not survive court challenges, said John Robertson, a professor of law and bioethics at the University of Texas. But while abortion rights groups, like NARAL Pro-Choice America, oppose such bans, they may be less eager to fight them politically or in court because sex selection is not the most socially sympathetic motivation for abortion.

"Still, fetal DNA tests for sex determination and other traits present “issues that I don’t think many general obstetricians are ready to deal with,” Dr. Egan said. “It’s a brave new world.”

Indeed, a brave new world for those who survive as planned, perfect and privileged.

Feministe thinks it is creepy to offer services to help women and babies at CPCs...Huh?

I just had to cross post this....what on earth....why oh why is this considered bad or creepy...that pro life crisis pregnancy centers would offer limited medical services to assist the moms and babies?? She chides them for not offering mammograms...earth to Feminsite...Planned Parenthood does not offer mammograms either although they  lie about it .... as in president Richards saying on national TV that they do.....!!
How terrible that they offer prenatal vitamins, prenatal care,  STI testing and eye exams. Isn't it a good thing to help the women???  PP offers STI testing....but no prenatal care,  of course. 

Like the worker at the abortion mill in NM said on tape when calling for an ambulance for the woman experiencing seizures during the abortion. Dispatcher: is she pregnant? Staffer: She was but not anymore!! See video at last Proliferations...hear it for yourself. No prenatal vitamins needed, huh!

“The newest in creepy from crisis pregnancy centers”: Eek, women’s health clinics!

There’s another strategy that’s gotten less attention: an under-the-radar campaign by large anti-choice organizations, like the National Institute of Family and Life Advocates and Focus on the Family, to fund and guide the conversion of CPCs into licensed, limited-service medical clinics, ramping up their services to include pregnancy tests and ultrasound.
Although they offer only limited women’s health services – none offer mammograms, for instance – medical clinic status has led many to start offering early prenatal care, prenatal vitamins, STI testing and even eye exams. A few have started advertising pap smears.

• Secular ProLife writes an insightful post on the apparent “cognitive dissonance” suffered by pro-choicers when it comes to the selective reduction (abortion) of one or more children in a multiples pregnancy.
• ProWomanProLife’s Jennifer Derwey shares the thoughts of former Planned Parenthood director Norman Fleishman, who believes overpopulation is the scourge of the earth. He applauds the Obama administration’s decision to mandate free birth control, even voicing approval of China’s one-child policy, predicting doom for the US if we do less – disregarding the demographic winter currently suffered by many countries. Derwey states: As much as I dislike hearing that women ought to have children for the sake of their country, I also dislike hearing that women ought not have children for the sake of their country. Both statements treat women as commodities, and both are false claims.
  

• Pro-Life Action League tells the heartwarming and sad story of 17-month-old Kameron and Kaydon Hayes (pictured left), conjoined twins who passed away this month. Doctors recommended abortion to mother Brianna Manns, but she refused, saying, “They are my babies. I had the feelings that any mother would have…. I wanted my children to experience life to the fullest, to whatever extent that it might be.” Some say the price is too high for the family and for society, but how much do we value life and who decides which lives are expendable?
• Suzy B posts about Kenneth Cole’s “shameless” use of social media to push his views on abortion and sell his clothes at the same time.
• LaShawn Barber reviews Dawn Eden’s book, The Thrill of the Chaste, in which Eden explains how “our casual sex culture encourages singles to view one another as commodities.” Eden also shares her live-and-learn experiences in the book, admitting, “[T]he same armor that enabled me to tolerate casual sex made me less attractive to the kind of man I most desired.”
• Stand for Life compiles a series of 13 unedited 911 calls from 2 New Mexico abortion clinics over a 30 month period. What is most striking is the flippant, careless demeanor of the workers requesting emergency assistance: 

 

• ProLife NZ describes the history of the Hippocratic oath and how it has changed over time. Interestingly, this ethical code came into common use in the US following WWII when the brutality of the Nazi regime’s “applied biology” – forced sterilization and euthanasia – were exposed for the world to see.
• Timmerie’s blog proves the dog days of summer aren’t keeping pro-life youth indoors. Check out a pro-life flash mob performed at Griffith Park in Hollywood and at Santa Monica Pier:

Has the abortion industry finally jumped the shark??

 The callousness of the abortion industry that  appeals to the "pro choice"  or WIIF (what's in it for me) mindset may have finally jumped the shark causing  even the most vocal abortion supporters to say....well... wait just a minute. 

Two recent news items are causing this. The first is the new pink/blue test that allows a pregnant woman to tell with 95% accuracy at 7 weeks gestation whether she is pregnant with a boy or girl. No one is buying that you need to know that early so you can catch all the sales at Babies R Us and stock up on pink/blue goodies. Most abortions occur in the first trimester when it is quicker and cheaper. Welcome sex selection abortion to America.

The second article causing further unease is about becoming pregnant via IVF and then reducing the pregnancy of twins to singleton as a purely elective choice having nothing to do with health issues of the fetus or mother. Slate expressed their "discomfort" pretty quickly.

“Jenny” chose to reduce one fetus because twins didn't fit into the life she'd pictured for herself. Her choice to end one of her pregnancies upsets me not just because of how rationally she made it, but because she crossed some sort of line. But here’s the kicker: Didn't I cross that line too? Both of us, “Jenny” and I, meddled with nature to get the families we so desperately wanted. So why is what I did OK in my eyes and what she did not? That’s a question I’m still grappling with."

A spate of articles followed the article from those who usually write in support of abortion saying that maybe we have crossed some moral line here. 
 
Slate  continued to agonize  out loud about this. You can almost  see the heart/mind change occurring in the comments of those who start off declaring their "pro choiceness "but then questioning where have we gone and what have we become?

"At its core, this is the most disconcerting thing about abortion: one person gets to decide whether another entity is a person or not. Seriously?"

Even Slate's  William Saletan, seems to transform before our eyes...

"Look up any abortion-related item in Jezebel, and you'll see the developing human referred to as a fetus or pregnancy. But when the same entity appears in a non-abortion item, it gets an upgrade. A blood test could help "women who are concerned that they may be carrying a child with Down's Syndrome." A TV character wonders whether she's "capable of carrying a child to term." Nuclear radiation in Japan "may put unborn children at risk."
This bifurcated mindset permeates pro-choice thinking. Embryos fertilized for procreation are embryos; embryos cloned for research are "activated eggs." A fetus you want is a baby; a fetus you don't want is a pregnancy. Under federal law, anyone who injures or kills a "child in utero" during a violent crime gets the same punishment as if he had injured or killed "the unborn child's mother," but no such penalty applies to "an abortion for which the consent of the pregnant woman … has been obtained."
Reduction destroys this distinction. It combines, in a single pregnancy, a wanted and an unwanted fetus. In the case of identical twins, even their genomes are indistinguishable. You can't pretend that one is precious and the other is just tissue. You're killing the same creature to which you're dedicating your life."

 Secular Pro Life has an excellent post pointing out the conversion occurring before our eyes and asks a wonderful question of Slate.

"Mr. Saletan, did you become pro-life and I didn't notice? If you did, congratulations. If not, I'd love a follow-up article on how you're managing to maintain your convictions now that the "wall" of dehumanizing language has been breached."

 Many commenters say they can accept a  abortion when the pregnancy was not planned but the idea of using IVF to conceive and then choosing which one gets to live seems  beyond  the pale. 

An "ah ha" moment, conversion or have they jumped the shark.  This might be our opportunity to
help them across this divide to a full understanding of why abortion is unacceptable....because it kills a defenseless innocent human being. What reason is acceptable for doing that?

Many  of us in the pro life movement are converts some with a personal testimony or reason behind it. Here's to the honest questioning of what are we doing instead of accepting the  callousness of our action as the norm.
